When is it back? I'm sure I read somewhere that it would be back in April. Does anyone have any theories about the storyline or characters?

The AC12 triumvirate comprising Hastings, Arnott and Fleming will definitely be back.

What about Roz Huntley? and her rather drippy DH ?

Wil Nige feature? and will we find out how and why Maneet was being blackmailed by Hilton?

I can't wait, frankly.

Isn't it more that the Catholic church doesn't allow its members to be masons than the other way round?

So if Ted isn't too pushed on what the Catholic church teaches he could very well be a mason. There's a Masonic lodge here in Dublin, where I'm pretty sure any religion can join. (It opens up to for free public tours once a year.) Actually just thought, Freemasons and Masons - they are the same thing aren't they?

On the name Edward and Gerard are both names used in Ireland (i know several of both). Hastings isn't though.

FindPrimeLorca · 03/04/2019 07:52

In my patchy rewatch I missed the scene where Ros turned the tables on Ted but I vaguely remember that’s where it was confirmed he was a Mason after some dodgy handshake work in series 3 with the appalling Patrick Fairburn (which did not stop Ted finally doing his duty of course, after a bit of early reluctance).

And yes, the Masons are officially happy to let Catholics in but the Church think that they are theologically suspect so joining them used to be a Sin (capital S) for Catholics, now downgraded to a bit naughty.

AverageMan · 03/04/2019 07:56

What was the deal with the broken toilet? I assume he uses the sink for a no.1. Is he bagging a no.2 and throwing it out the window?

poundoflard · 03/04/2019 09:28

@averageman

please the Lovely Ted Fella, would NEVER bag a no.2 let alone throw it out the window.
Too much DNA on/in it Grin it would be traced right back to him.

Gross thought too, dirtymind

peridito · 03/04/2019 09:51

Methinks averageman is an UCO planted to infiltrate MN and undermine the Fella's reputation .

NoWordForFluffy · 03/04/2019 10:15

I imagine they'll fix the loo when he pays up!

And surely to god he's pooing at work?! 😱💩

bibbitybobbityyhat · 03/04/2019 10:21

But why is Ted so broke? And still living in a grotty hotel 2 years after splitting from the wife? He must have a decent salary - so, despite debts from the "unwise property investments" you'd think he could get himself a wee flat somewhere. Oh dear.

peridito · 03/04/2019 10:42

No ,no no ,no to Saint fella my man Ted being mentioned in the same sentence as bowel ( or any other digestive functions) movements .

Just.Stop. Now .

KateGrey · 03/04/2019 11:01

Loving the new series. I came really late to LoD and watched them all on Netflix. Must admit to a big crush on Kate. The writing on this is brilliant but I am a bit sad Maneet didn’t last longer and how her character went a bit dodgy.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 03/04/2019 11:46

It wouldn't otherwise suit the plot arc though, would it? Dramatic licence methinks.

Pomegranatepompom · 03/04/2019 12:33

Agree re Maneet, didn’t find it credible - must be more to come out???

Whenwillthewashingend · 03/04/2019 12:41

Re the toilet. I'm thinking something has been planted in there, so either the plumber will find it, and call the police, or there will be an anonymous tip off, and his room will be raided.

Cushellekoala · 03/04/2019 12:47

I thought he was going to put/find a stash of drugs/burner phone/bug/hidden camera in the toilet!

floribunda18 · 03/04/2019 12:49

But why is Ted so broke?

Paying off wife, gambling, paying off dodgy people I would hazard a guess at.

Pomegranatepompom · 03/04/2019 12:53

Gave wife the house ? No appetite for finding new home for himself as still hopes for reconciliation?

samsamsamsamsamsam · 03/04/2019 13:05

My thoughts -

Hastings will be framed, there will be something in his toilet and he will be arrested (because we see him in a cell in the trailer)
The woman gangster is also undercover
Kate is too happy with her promotion and family - something will happen to her
The woman who was shot in the raid is in on it. (too famous an actress to be in it for 5 mins)
The mole in the office will be the other policewoman who told arnott about maneet.

GeorgeTheBleeder · 03/04/2019 13:19

The woman who was shot in the raid is in on it.

Now, why does this in particular strike a chord? Something in it reminds me of the train suicide-bomber in the first episode of Bodyguard. Total reversal of everything we've been given to understand.

Interesting ...

tinstar · 03/04/2019 13:21

Agree Ted's prolonged domestic issues jar a bit. I'm all for suspending disbelief and enjoying the excellently well crafted drama even though it's unrealistic. But surely it's several years now that he's been living in grotty hotels? Fine as a temporary measure, but why put up with it for years? The budget hotels must cost £40-50 a night - equivalent to £1200-1400 pcm. For less than that he could surely rent a compact 1 bed flat?

LostInShoebiz · 03/04/2019 13:26

His own flat would mean admitting it was over with Mrs Fella.

DarlingNikita · 03/04/2019 13:41

George, interesting idea. I did think it odd that she seemed to have that tiny part –she's too big an actor. In hindsight, she seemed angry/rattled when Kate and Steve pushed her on why she stopped to assist with the burning car; at the time I thought it was because they were questioning her judgement but maybe she's actually got a guilty conscience?

Acis · 03/04/2019 13:46

The woman who was shot in the raid is in on it. (too famous an actress to be in it for 5 mins)

Never a wise assumption with LoD. Look how quickly Daniel Mays and Jason Watkins got written out.

GeorgeTheBleeder · 03/04/2019 13:50

It's sam's idea rather than mine - but I was thinking less about guilty consciences and more about story structure - nothing being wasted. And those opening sequences to a series are always rammed full of significance.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 03/04/2019 14:14

We've already done the innocent/guilty policewoman in a road ambush though (Lindsay Denton). I think the significance of the first scene is that what looked to be a violent OCG raid, involving loss of life and the acquisition of large quantities of heroin, involved one if not two UCOs (and the rest of this series will be unpicking that).

samsamsamsamsamsam · 03/04/2019 14:15

Yes I was thinking that the opening episodes were never bloated in any way. That's why I think she's involved, and that she's a pretty famous actor.

Think of Lindsay Denton being involved in the first ambush, and the suicide bomber in Bodyguard.

DarlingNikita · 03/04/2019 14:22

George, yes, but it was specifically your comment 'Something in it reminds me of the train suicide-bomber in the first episode of Bodyguard. Total reversal of everything we've been given to understand.' that struck a chord with me. The reversal thing.
