When is it back? I'm sure I read somewhere that it would be back in April. Does anyone have any theories about the storyline or characters?

The AC12 triumvirate comprising Hastings, Arnott and Fleming will definitely be back.

What about Roz Huntley? and her rather drippy DH ?

Wil Nige feature? and will we find out how and why Maneet was being blackmailed by Hilton?

I can't wait, frankly.

OTOH is a Mumsnet acronym for On the other hand.

ElenadeClermont · 01/04/2019 08:11

Could the other woman work as an undercover for another AC unit? There was a time when Kate requested authorisation from another head of an AC unit (?) to collect evidence on Hastings. Or have I just made this up?

RedForShort · 01/04/2019 08:11

Thanks, Calzone. I did know that! Well now I know I knew it, I'd be trying to make it a police / crime thing and evidently the whole wood and trees things occurred!!!

JessieMcJessie · 01/04/2019 08:15

I thought it was a bit unlikely that Maneet’s cousin would be in a position of such responsibility when he was not intelligent enough to speak at work without using local dialect. I was also a bit Hmm at the idea that loyalty within extended Asian families being portrayed as extreme enough to motivate a police officer to put her career, life and family at risk. I don’t think that would have worked if Maneet and her cousin had been white.

RedForShort · 01/04/2019 08:19

Alison (surname?) didn't actually say yes to Stephen Graham being out of contact for months did she? It's just that's where Hastings stopped asking and assumed.

Might it be years? He might be the UCO she revealed, but she also sent Lise in to scope out him? Explain why lise's so shaky and wouldn't kill the cop.

Italiangreyhound · 01/04/2019 08:19

Wht dump body at sane site? Lazy.

Italiangreyhound · 01/04/2019 08:19

Why.

RedForShort · 01/04/2019 08:23

You think having a local dialect means someone's not intelligent? Wo

Even if that was true he didn't have a strong dialect, he had a black country twang. It was notable here and there at a stressful time.

Calzone · 01/04/2019 08:25

The problem with Mumsnet chat during and after a thriller, is that I actually prefer the Mumsnet premise rather than the actual show......

🤣🤣🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

JessieMcJessie · 01/04/2019 08:26

RedForShort he used “her” instead of “she”. It’s discussed upthread.
I speak dialect myself but I know when is appropriate to do so and at work is not one of those places.

Acis · 01/04/2019 08:29

Wht dump body at sane site? Lazy.

No, it's to send a message to any other police insiders they have.

RedForShort · 01/04/2019 08:32

Yes, but hardly suggests lack of intelligence. Slipping into some dialect under stress when your facing life imprisonment in a place where your not going to be exactly accepted and treated well by other prisoners (Or guards, having caused the death of police).

JessieMcJessie · 01/04/2019 08:41

I disagree.

FindPrimeLorca · 01/04/2019 08:43

Maneet’s cousin clearly isn’t bright enough for such a responsible job (a tweet I read referred to the first interrogation being set on easy difficulty) and I’m slightly Hmm about that being associated with a Black Country dialect, but I think his over-promotion is still realistic because he was deliberately placed in that position by Hilton et al who wanted to have someone in the post who they could control.

Stuffedwithnonsense · 01/04/2019 08:44

I think Jed Mercurio came up with 'H' after seeing the blue and white road signs for hospitals.

And someone should have put a camera where that jetty is, poor Maneet, though do love references back to previous series.

That's at least 4 officers gone under UCO that we know about.

HappyGoGoLucky · 01/04/2019 08:54

The ending made me cringe! That lady in Series 1 also had her throat cut Confused can't stand watching scenes like that lol weird I know Blush

longwayoff · 01/04/2019 08:54

Dialect? Intelligence? What? Bloody hell. All of u not speaking RP BBC English please stand down from your positions of authority immediately to make room for me, and my perfectly enunciated vowels and consonants.

icelollycraving · 01/04/2019 09:08

Can anyone remember that programme last year (I think) with uco who infiltrated a group who were known for racial violence? He had a long term partner from it?
It reminded me of that, if you get deep in and then a kind of reality coming from your acting to become accepted.

SavageBeauty73 · 01/04/2019 09:14

@icelollycraving Informer. It was great!

longwayoff · 01/04/2019 09:14

Yes, remember it but not title. Reminded me of the real life cases. Frankly, the IRL cops would have benefited greatly from a stern talking to by Upright Ted.

itsallsoobviousnow · 01/04/2019 09:14

Oh yes icelolly, i think you're thinking of Informer - which was also very good!

I think john may have gone very rogue, but maybe in the sense of thinking the end justifies the means - so he still thinks he is a 'good guy' and working for the police, but is going (much) too far in trying to get to the top of the conspiracy - now thinks it is worth sacrificing the lives of individual police officers.

(no hope that Maneet is still alive then?)

SavageBeauty73 · 01/04/2019 09:15

@ElenadeClermont Yes Kate requested permission from another AC as it was a woman and she couldn't be a mason.

Cagliostro · 01/04/2019 09:16

Signing in! Didn’t get to watch last night but so excited to start

JessieMcJessie · 01/04/2019 09:21

Good point about the cousin being deliberately recruited as a stooge FindPrimeLorca. I think that Hilton et al were a bit obvious about it though!

JessieMcJessie · 01/04/2019 09:22

llngwayoff dialect, not accent. He was using incorrect grammar- “her” instead of “she”. If someone spoke with cut-glass vowels but said “I seen her* I would have made the same observation. Nothing whatsoever to do with accent.
