When is it back? I'm sure I read somewhere that it would be back in April. Does anyone have any theories about the storyline or characters?

The AC12 triumvirate comprising Hastings, Arnott and Fleming will definitely be back.

What about Roz Huntley? and her rather drippy DH ?

Wil Nige feature? and will we find out how and why Maneet was being blackmailed by Hilton?

I can't wait, frankly.

I hope he gets back with his ex Sam, although she needs to beg a bit.

I love Hargreaves and his hard boiled act.

Throat killing always seems the worst way to be killed.
Can't look sometimes.

FindPrimeLorca · 31/03/2019 23:09

Yes Maneet has at least two very young children Sad

I’ve just done a full rewatch with DD. DH says he’s not watching it, and hence does not sit down, but he is spending a suspicious amount of time hovering in the doorway, and displays an encyclopaedic knowledge of the plot.

BartonHollow · 31/03/2019 23:09

Not read any of the thread at all these are my LIVE observations - I've just started watching now

MOTHER OF GOD!

Steve's shiny waistcoat!

NoWordForFluffy · 31/03/2019 23:11

Bloody hell. That was tense!

I don't think Hilton was H; Ted seems too quick to box him off as such. I don't want it to be Ted, but is he covering for someone? Clearly he has money issues, but why would you live in a Travelodge rather than get a cheaper bedsit?

Anyway, bloody loved it. I don't think it disappointed at all.

BartonHollow · 31/03/2019 23:11

I fucking love Stephen Graham ❤️

Cushellekoala · 31/03/2019 23:13

Its one of the few programmes me and dH both admit to liking and properly sit and watch * together.

  • i watch it and have to keep nudging/shouting at DH if he starts nodding off!! Then pause and explain what has happened Its hard enough to follow when youre awake. DH insists he doesnt like bgt, x factor etc but usually just watches in a different room (and pretends he is watching something else!)
GeorgeTheBleeder · 31/03/2019 23:27

Poor Maneet ...

It was lovely to see the three of them so upset when they had to interview her. But it all escalated so quickly.

Can't wait to find out who Lise really is.

Was that Kate's husband and child? Rather than a new relationship.

And why can't Ted afford the crappy hotel?

Encyclo · 31/03/2019 23:33

I also hated how quickly Ted went from watching Maneet leave to celebrating how her intel on Hilton cleared up their corruption investigation. That seemed very weird. Ted might not be the real H, bit he definitely knows something

BartonHollow · 01/04/2019 00:04

Maneet Sad

I'm going to RTFT but

If John is the cop and not Lisa - who bugged the phone? Confused

Absofruitly · 01/04/2019 00:06

Just discovered BBC Sounds has a very funny podcast on LoD: Obsessed with ... Line of Duty, with Brett Goldstein & Lolly Adefope discussing the show. Like a podcast version of this thread!

BartonHollow · 01/04/2019 00:11

Yes I think there's two rival UCOs and I think Lisa might even be The Met or something.

Tinkoschminko · 01/04/2019 00:11

Beeeeeeeeeeeee some text missing eeeeeeeeee.... eeeeeeeeeep. Beep. Beeeeep.

Think that was my favourite bit.

Absofruitly · 01/04/2019 00:14

Anyone notice the lady on the dating app reply that Steve looks at briefly on his phone is Martin Compston's real-life wife! And that's their dog too! Thanks to MC's Twitter for that gem.

Sunflowersforever · 01/04/2019 00:14

Oooh, that's a good spot!

FindPrimeLorca · 01/04/2019 00:28

It’s just occurred to me that John’s pointed avoidance of the question of whether he’s shagging Lise may be a pointer that he has remembered at least one of his UCO For Beginners Rules. OTOH his somewhat performative heterosexuality might be an act. LOD’s never had a gay character has it? (Or Lise might be gay). His next of kin was a woman with the same surname (?) which might be either his mum or wife.

BoreOfWhabylon · 01/04/2019 00:57

I think Ted was ringing Maneet. I think he'd arranged for her to go undercover to redeem herself.

He will be consumed with guilt.

And YY woman is also UCO.

KittyWindbag · 01/04/2019 06:07

God I’m happy this is back. I didn’t even know it was either so it was an unexpected joy!

Stephen Grahame is such a terrific screen presence, I can’t wait to see where they go with this. I was quite literally heartstopped thinking we were on the verge of discovering it’s been Hastings all along (please not!!) but I guess not yet...

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 01/04/2019 06:44

I still don't think it's Hastings - if he was bent he would not be living in a shoddy hotel room hovel. My money is on Hargreaves who keeps popping up like a bad penny. Serious Crime is probably where all the money-making 'intel' would be, isn't it?

Poor Maneet?

Is it only me who doesn't think £25K is that much money to sell your soul for - or police career? Or would they get repeat bribes?

Maybe the woman is the UCO checking up on Steve Grahame's UCO? It's an investigation of an investigation of 'organised crime'?

Poor Maneet? And why wouldn't they have offered her cousin witness-protection if he potentially knows so much?

floribunda18 · 01/04/2019 06:46

Is it only me who doesn't think £25K is that much money to sell your soul for - or police career? Or would they get repeat bribes?

He had gambling debts.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 01/04/2019 06:50

So the throat-slitting is the 'calling card' choice of death for victims of balaclava gang? It's a bit strange if both the main people in the 'gang' are both UCOs though? None of the others looked to be capable of being the brains behind their ops?

Also, a bit strange to take all the victims (if to be believed that they bumped off Hilton and the children's home social worker) to the same spot of river to die?

RedForShort · 01/04/2019 07:20

"Clearly he has money issues, but why would you live in a Travelodge rather than get a cheaper bedsit?"
All I could think was it was a bit Alan Partridge.

I struggle to follow as I'm awful for dropping off now and again. Now I'm struggling with the acronyms and initials on this thread! (I'm a bit slow ☹) . Figured most of them but:

"OTOH his somewhat performative heterosexuality might be an act. LOD’s never had a gay character has it?"

What's OTOH?

(And are you referring to be bit where the two women turned up and they both turned around putting their arms around him and walked off? It was such an oddly synchronised movement it felt choreographed. At the time i thought poor acting for a show that usually isn't but you think maybe it was choreographed?)

itsallsoobviousnow · 01/04/2019 07:29

Is there any chance AT ALL that Maneet might be saved - a passing nighttime stroller on the jetty may yet spot her?

Yes she has an older child as well

Flobochin · 01/04/2019 07:37

For those not on Twitter:

FYI, theres a UCO in an OCG who's MIA. While he's AWOL, DCI and DCS from AC12 hunt shipment ED905 from an HGV and trace the links from H to an ACC (RIP)

Thanks to Sue Perkins

LeslieYep · 01/04/2019 07:38

Loved the first episode!

I initially thought oh, he's gone rogue, when the UCO was shown to be Stephen Graham. But then I thought hang on... How can a relative newbie, who has no doubt had to prove himself, become top dog so quickly? Well, no idea on time frame, but how would he make head honcho at all?

It has made me unsure of the new woman Phillips(?) And her involvement. I think Lise might be the UCO and has either been abandoned by her unit head, or is part of a different unit.
She had the heads up that AC-12 are onto the OCG, so could easily have doctored that document she decided to show them on the computer.

Probably way off, as I never have theories on TV shows, just happy to watch with a slightly manic look on my face until it ends...
