When is it back? I'm sure I read somewhere that it would be back in April. Does anyone have any theories about the storyline or characters?

The AC12 triumvirate comprising Hastings, Arnott and Fleming will definitely be back.

What about Roz Huntley? and her rather drippy DH ?

Wil Nige feature? and will we find out how and why Maneet was being blackmailed by Hilton?

I can't wait, frankly.

Acis or just to keep the same old shit going! I think it's lazy. I'd rather start with a new story. It's just too much of the same thing for me. Veet disappointed. But the upside us I won't spend all week waiting for next episode!

My predictions are that female xpper who was spared from the attack at the beginning will have been in on it. And that the supposedly under cover female us actually in it for something else, not police involvement but not for criminal gain. She is not a 'real' criminal but rather someone with an ulterior motive, hence calling the criminals 'bad people'.

I also think Hastings got Maneet to go under cover. I reckon she knew there was a tracking device or bug in her phone. But if so shy didn't they track her to her location and save her!

icelollycraving · 01/04/2019 11:12

Informer! That was it!

longwayoff · 01/04/2019 11:28

I think it is taken for granted, jessie, that along with enunciation in RP that correct grammar is a given. However thank you for your useful intervention.

But one of the great features of LoD is the way story lines are kept going from one series to the next. It makes it a more challenging watch and a refreshing change from dramas where everything is conveniently wrapped up at the end of each series.

TunstallTansy · 01/04/2019 11:49

Loved this episode - so tense.
Noticed Stephen Graham's screen age was six years younger than his real one Wink.

PMSL at not using dialect when at work/in a responsible job Confused.

DarlingNikita · 01/04/2019 11:53

How can a relative newbie, who has no doubt had to prove himself, become top dog so quickly? Well, no idea on time frame, but how would he make head honcho at all?

Yes, I thought this too.

I think the woman is an UCO too, for another/rival force.

I too think H might be Hargreaves.

Ted is HOT although he's 25 years older than me Jesus, Mary and Joseph is it good to have him back Grin
Steve makes me think of a self-important small dog, swaggering about and yapping at everyone. He's just a wee nyaff made good, in a waistcoat.

Love Kate and her hair.

Sad and disappointed in Maneet.

Don't know who bugged Maneet's phone or how Corbett knew to check it.

Maneet’s cousin… not intelligent enough to speak at work without using local dialect.
Please sod off. The UK is rich in different dialects and accents and if Kate and Steve couldn't understand a bit of non-standard grammar (as opposed to 'incorrect', as you describe it) I'd be questioning THEIR intelligence.

JessieMcJessie · 01/04/2019 11:54

Why so funny TunstallTansy? Bear in mind that LOD isn’t even set in the Black Country so his colleagues wouldn’t all be using that dialect. I would not dream of speaking in broad Scots with my colleagues and clients in London and they would think me a halfwit if I were unable to switch to non-regional grammar and vocabulary at work. However my accent doesn’t change.

WhiskersPete · 01/04/2019 11:55

Ahhh Steven Graham’s gone rogue! What a brilliant actor he is. Cracking first episode.

I didn’t realise the boy on the bike was Ryan though!

WhiskersPete · 01/04/2019 12:02

Also Ted is so vulnerable to corruption. Is he taking bribes to pay for the Travel Lodge!? Please no, fella!

WhoWants2Know · 01/04/2019 12:07

Isn't leaving Maneet on the same dock as Hilton and the social worker a bit counterproductive?

They had just stopped investigating "H", and her body in that spot is going to be like a red rag to a bull.

tinstar · 01/04/2019 12:08

I didn’t realise the boy on the bike was Ryan though!

He wasn't! Ryan is now all grown up and a member of the balaclava gang.

Mrsjayy · 01/04/2019 12:14

Nothing much to add Steven Graham gone rogue thoughbloody marvellous it is going to be good! Me and Dh play the its him game every time Ted glides into shot he has to be H

Mrsjayy · 01/04/2019 12:16

Why would an inspector be staying in a travel lodge?

ghostpop · 01/04/2019 12:17

I had had a few wines but I was finding Hasting's "suspicious" expressions and stares into the middle distance really funny.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 01/04/2019 12:26

I've just had a thought. Maneet implied that she was being pressured/blackmailed from before she went on maternity leave (presumably with her second child) which happened in series 3, didn't it? So could the info she fed to Kate about Dot been deliberate to deflect attention away from someone else 'close to home'?

Mrsjayy · 01/04/2019 12:26

So did we with no wine ghostpop it was funny in one scene he just appeared at Kates shoulder if it was me i would have shit a brick Grin

AlecTrevelyan006 · 01/04/2019 12:27

Re: travelodge - if you are in debt that will show up in a credit check which you’d need to do if trying to rent even a crappy bedsit,

Also - Mercurio loves a nickname. I suspect that H is Stephen Graham. It will turn out that His character DS John Corbett used to be called by his colleagues. As in Harry H Corbett.

Imho

AlecTrevelyan006 · 01/04/2019 12:28

Used to called Harry by his colleague

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 01/04/2019 12:29

Oh that's a good call, AlecTrevelyan006!

Mrsjayy · 01/04/2019 12:29

AH I suppose yes Harry corbert

NoWordForFluffy · 01/04/2019 12:32

Re: travelodge - if you are in debt that will show up in a credit check which you’d need to do if trying to rent even a crappy bedsit,

Nope, incorrect. The credit checks which estate agents do are only for the info on public record, so only if you've an IVA, CCJ, are bankrupt etc. They're not entitled to the full checks which lenders are.

I really would've thought a bedsit would've been preferable and cheaper.

And isn't it meant to be set in Birmingham, so not exactly a long distance from the Black Country?

NoWordForFluffy · 01/04/2019 12:33

Oh, someone also asked about Ted's financial woe and its cause. It's due to a Spanish property investment which went horribly wrong. Which he invested in without telling his wife, hence them initially being estranged and now divorcing.

JessieMcJessie · 01/04/2019 12:33

I don’t think that they ever say what city it’s in. We just know it’s not London as they sometimes deal with the Met.

whoami24601 · 01/04/2019 12:34

Maneet is listed on the IMDB page for episode 2...

NoWordForFluffy · 01/04/2019 12:36

It's assumed that it's somewhere in the Midlands, which would make sense as they refer to East Mids sometimes.
