...tomorrow and I’m excited!! Anyone else?

Get on my screen Jimmy Perez!

It looks great from the trailer too...

OP posts:
FintyTin · 13/03/2019 21:11

I’m still not convinced it’s not Rhona. She seemed very keen to push the inquiry, maybe to keep the focus for Calum’s death on Sandy. Who’s to say she didn’t sneak into the cell in the 40 minutes and do it herself? She also knew about the ransom meeting. Just saying.
I hope it’s Creepy Graeme or Alice/Chris though.

After last night I’m starting to feel rather sorry for Sandy. He clearly feels awful about what happened. Plus Jimmy sharing that kind of sensitive information with a member of the public (even if he has got the hots for her) is surely a much bigger howler than giving someone a pen??!!

longtompot · 13/03/2019 23:04

Didn't Perez tell Alice what had been happening with the case? I think she is involved with the people being shipped in, but she has only just moved to Shetland, hasn't she?
I keep thinking the cop who is looking after Perez & Duncans daughter is up to no good, but I guess after watching this since the beginning, EVERYONE is a suspect Hmm

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 14/03/2019 06:27

These police procedurals usually have their own signature style don't they? Trying desperately to recall previous series and whether the villain(s) are usually centre stage or not.

Early on in this series Alice did imply that these rings tend to involve people from all sectors of the community (including the police), so you could be on to something with Rhona, FintyTin?

DuggeesWoggle · 14/03/2019 06:52

Just caught up with this thread and very glad to see there is not much love for the Jimmy/Alice thing. The way she manipulated both her husband (saying he was looking for something that wasn't there which was a blatant lie) and Jimmy (telling him her husband walked out on her). She's a controlling bitch who wants Jimmy at all costs.

Weirdly have never fancied Douglas H in anything else but I think it's his eyes in this, plus he seems to be ageing well.

No idea how this story will pan out but I do wish poor Zezi will catch a break - she seems a very strong feisty character who I really want to see come out of this ok.

OllyBJolly · 14/03/2019 08:57

Unless the scriptwriters are going to give him a major change of character, and remove him from the next series, of course. Could happen .

Not likely. This is the last ever series apparently....

Unless we start a petition Grin

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 14/03/2019 09:24

Not likely. This is the last ever series apparently.... Oh no, OllyBJolly!

whatashower · 14/03/2019 10:26

Olly where did you see that there would be no more? I know the original author Ann Cleeves has written her last Shetland book (Wild Fire) but the tv series is quite a loose adaptation so I was quite hopeful they would commission another series 😢.........

tattychicken · 14/03/2019 14:12

I think Alice has targeted Jimmy deliberately to use him as a source of police info, inside information etc. She is a baddie!

diddl · 14/03/2019 14:18

" She is a baddie!"

He's rather a twit for telling her anything though!

Clawdy · 14/03/2019 14:27

As whatashower said, Ann Cleeves has written the last Shetland novel, but I've seen nothing about this being the last tv series.

DarlingNikita · 14/03/2019 14:32

I think I've read somewhere about it being the last series (nooooooooo!), but I can't find it now. It might be that someone has read the interview with her on her publisher's website, where she says she's not writing any more books, and misunderstood it to mean there won't be any more TV series?

GarthFunkel · 14/03/2019 14:35

I think the mole/bad guy is Sandy. He acts like a bumbling fool but underneath he's a criminal mastermind Grin

LoisWilkerson1 · 14/03/2019 15:32

I haven't read the books. Are they a good read? Or would it be pointless now that I know most of the storylines?

OllyBJolly · 14/03/2019 15:53

I know some of the crew who were saying it was their last visit to Shetland. Maybe the next series hasn't been commissioned yet.

whatashower · 14/03/2019 15:57

Fingers crossed Olly, would love to see more ❤️

lorn195 · 14/03/2019 16:59

Me too, final part next week 🙁

Kinraddie · 15/03/2019 08:53

I do think Alice is a baddie, in cahoots with posh Glasgow guy?
They found a knife at the b & b so why do they believe Olivia is innocent? That bit is confusing me.
And why did that dog walker on the beach completely ignore the drunken sleeping Duncan and not even spot the bodies in the sea?!

thedevilinablackdress · 15/03/2019 09:06

Am enjoying all the Duncan action, Mark Bonnar is excellent. Absolutely outstanding in Catastrophe.

Clawdy · 15/03/2019 10:15

LoisWilkerson1 the books are well worth reading. As said before though, they're a bit different from the tv show. Cassie is nine years old in the last novel, not a teenager! Tosh isn't in them at all, the female detective in the books is called Willow, and is nothing like Tosh. Sandy is in the books, though - happily engaged to be married!

GarthFunkel · 15/03/2019 10:27

Sandy is in the books, though - happily engaged to be married! All part of the cover He's got to pay for the wedding some how.

Loopytiles · 15/03/2019 11:02

Sandy was an idiot, policing 101 fail! Jimmy too. Agree that Alice deliberately targeted him, perhaps her DP is involved too.

Missmarplesknitting · 15/03/2019 11:14

I'm convinced 'mild mannered' Chris (Alice's husband) is the baddie, in with slimy Glaswegian man.

LoisWilkerson1 · 15/03/2019 14:11

I will give them a read thanks. Smile

Xiaoxiong · 15/03/2019 14:14

Clawdy in my mind the books are prequels to the show - so maybe Sandy is divorced now, Willow no longer on the scene, Tosh moved to Shetland, Cassie is an adult now, and Perez has been single for two decades still grieving for Fran. That makes a bit more sense with people saying to Perez that he has to move on etc if it's been that long.

Clawdy · 15/03/2019 15:02

Xiaoxiong I like your theory of a prequel ! But how can Willow no longer be on the scene, if you recall what happened in the last book?!
