Anyone watching?

The ads looked good but I’m a bit bored by the cliched/lazy writing already.

This programme is so unrealistic. The unlocked computers, the empty offices - it doesn't happen.

The amount of surveillance in an investment bank is incredible

Surely they would have cctv everywhere?
' just hit that fire button' ! As if.

Boring and crap. Thoroughly unlikable main character who I don't actually give a shit about. Not going to watch any more.

Computers left on and unlocked is so ridiculous. Especially in that industry. Laughable

It would have been a good storyline if it weren't for the ridiculous writing and anomalies. As others have said:
No locking of screens - ever. All you have to do is close the laptop, which any employee would be aware of, and would be told how important it is.
No CCTV
No time-outs on PCs
Apparently Sam is useless around PCs and doesn't own one (I think?), yet somehow can owns a USB stick, can plug it in, locate a secret report that is not password protected, and after a copy fail knows how to print it out - all within about 30 seconds.

She's also unfailingly and unrealistically pleasant to the girls under all circumstances. It's just silly.

This is poor. What a waste of a strong cast and a good idea.

It was easier to do dramas like this years ago as everything was paper based and filing cabinets and locked drawers could be broken into. No computers or mobiles to try and navigate.
These days they have to just write it and suspend belief , poetic licence is abused! Lol
I'll stick with it. Just to see if her friend gets the food van for her mum!
There are four episodes to go so have to see how it plays out.
The trader had lost his job : he might get onboard with them?

I like the lodger. He's so innocent, bless him!

The80sweregreat · 18/01/2019 09:31

She is taking a risk with the lodger. Letting her kids stay with him etc ; all a bit reckless.
He could be anyone!

I’ve just heard SS doing voice over for the “in the beach” advert and her voice sounds very strange. What has she done to her normal speaking voice? What is she trying to sound like?

I’m still enjoying. its simple drama

THO stealing from her friend and then gambling away over £1k

GUESS that’s the bug :(

Not sure if lodger is dodgy

WHY so attached to her rings and instead gave her car keys

Changedun · 20/01/2019 14:35

She still loves her husband and vice versa.

She gambles, he cheats... they’re a good match!

I've just caught up. I like it as light hearted fun. Some massive plot holes (and a 5 second shot of the USB left on the table makes me think the target audience is idiots). But this idiot's I'm enjoying the story.

I think we're not meant to like Sam. Which means she's going to get caught/lose everything. I reckon its written as a "gambling is a bad slippery slope" public service announcement.

It’s interesting that SS said she made her character unlikeable because she had zero to do with the production of Cleaning Up, she gets handed a script and has to act accordingly so surely it couldn’t have been her choice as to how she made her character?Confused

Scotschic She says in the interview that some people speak to the director to “protect” their role. It’s become quite common because of sequels in and spin offs. Being the big baddie and being killed off at the end of the first film is no longer a good thing when there’s a sequel or spinoff or series in the offing. So people protect their roles in the minor parts, try to make it into something that will grab the public’s attention...

Frasier anyone?!

Report
Scotschic · 23/01/2019 21:30

Thanks Fusioluxe, I didn’t know that, now I understand.Smile

What do you mean by Frasier, did Kelsey Grammar also protect his character? God I love Frasier and always watch the reruns when I can, I never got the humour of it back then, I’m 37 now and I just didn’t find it funny back then, I was only 13 when it first aired here.

She's in it up to her neck now! It's exhausting keeping up with who is on to her.

Report
Scotschic · 23/01/2019 21:33

I find it odd that she has no fear whatsoever about being caughtHmm

Report
The80sweregreat · 23/01/2019 21:35

She doesn't care does she? I'd be worried about getting caught out ( I wouldn't do any of this though!)
Her ex is very good looking.

There’s an apparent twist at the very end of this drama so I’m wondering if she’s truly a cleaner, has someone put her up to doing this, or am I totally way off?Confused

The80sweregreat · 23/01/2019 21:38

Maybe she is working for her polish boss?

Report
Fusioluxe · 23/01/2019 21:39

Scotschic Frasier was created as a spin-off of Cheers. Frasier Crane returned to his hometown of Seattle and started a new life as a radio host.
