Anyone watching?

The ads looked good but I’m a bit bored by the cliched/lazy writing already.

Oh thanks @southeastdweller for the link, I loved it first time around!

Just finished watching the final episode on catch-up. What a load of drivel. And I had such high hopes.

The plot had more holes than a swiss cheese.

You cannot deposit more than 10K into an account without alerting the money laundering systems (and she deposited 2 lots of 25K for her daughters and was told it would be fine).

Agree, the Pretty Woman pastiche was embarrassing.

Too many clichés in general.

Also, for someone on the bones of their arse, Sam took an awful lot of taxis and DLR trains. Very lazy writing.

I love Sheridan Smith, but she's totally missed the mark here. And the Botox and lip fillers are a big mistake. Epic fail.

I did have to work very hard ignore the reality of the laws around renting / landlords and the process of the section 21 and court orders etc to get rid of a tenant.

Just watched part 6.
Would Swanny, Blake and Graham really believe that Sam was FCA? They’d just take that woman’s word for it?
Also the woman who really was FCA undercover, why wouldn’t she have reported Sam and the other cleaners? Surely there would be a real investigation??
And Jess and her boyfriend were never a convincing couple!

I didn't notice Frances telling them Sam was FCA, when was that bit?

The undercover FCA woman would in real life have reported them to the police at the end, though that's not the FCAs job specifically. She couldn't report them until her own investigation was done, at which point they all got locked up - but I think the police would be involved at that stage.

Re Jess and her bf, yes, it was very weird.

It was a terrible series. Really badly written and some terrible acting. The younger daughter was so lovely but far too posh and well-spoken to be Sheridan Smith's character's daughter. There is no way there will be a second series.

The more I think about it the more questions/plot holes I have

  • surely offices in Canary Wharf have cleaning contracts in place? And would be unlikely to take on 2 bit cleaners with no equipment anyway?

  • how did Sam know Swanny and Squeaky Voice Man (Graham?) weren't in regular contact with Blake?

  • why didn't Blake have a password for the burner phone?

  • I don't believe that Swanny wouldn't have men waiting in the wings to go after Sam or whoever else crosses him?

  • why did the cleaners have some weird full time man whose sol job seemed to be carrying clipboard around?

It's like a GCSE drama script isn't it. No dogs join together

I did enjoy but a few plot holes

So swanny etc right off their £50k as think SAM was the investigator
But really they got caught few days later

Didn’t understand how they made money from shares going down

Who bets on stocks falling

Or is that like me betting on football to lose

And yes Jess gave £6k but they all shared £2k and SAM got £14k to pay loan off

If she actually did a cleanin company and did 3 x 3hr jobs a day at £15ph she would be earning £120 a day

And yes return the coat

VanGoghsDog, didn’t Frances tell the three guys that Sam was undercover, when she returned from Sams locker to get the money? Sorry being poorly this week so might have got it wrong...
Money was missing from a company, on the arrest of Swanny and Co, surely it would somehow be traced back to Sam? Isn’t there a law called the Proceeds of crime Act?
Finally, anyone can set up a cleaning company so it is possible that Sam could set up her own business in Canary Wharf.

I think the Complaince lady didn't turn Sam into the FCA because of the £15k she blackmailed her for

Report
VanGoghsDog · 18/02/2019 21:29

There wasn't any money missing from any company, it was Swanee's money Sam stole (sort of by accident).

Who bets on stocks falling

Er, well, loads of people, fund managers funds, individuals etc etc. The whole film The Big Short was based on the concept.

But yes, a trillion plot holes. Yes, firms have cleaning contracts in place and go out to tender when they expire, not randomly.
The guy with the clipboard was the supervisor. Even cleaners have to be supervised.

I thought it was money stolen from his company hence why wanted it back ASAP

Yes Frances blackmailed £15k off Sam so she couldn’t dob her in or else SAM would say that and Frances be in jail

VanGoghsDog · 19/02/2019 22:46

Ah, yes, he borrowed it from his own company.
