Starts tonight, anyone else ridiculously excited about it? Just finishing up rewatching to the end of season 3 now and can't wait.

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 12/02/2019 14:08

Is it def the last season

Buddyelf · 12/02/2019 14:15

Did anyone see Rob on Sunday Brunch at the weekend - he confirmed what tonight's episode is about (I won't say in case people don't want a spoiler) but its what I suspected it would be. Its a longer episode as well. I'll be gutted when it finishes, its been brilliant (bar the last episode I would say), genuine laugh out loud moments for me and Ill be sad to see the end of it.

SheWoreBlueVelvet · 12/02/2019 22:36

Ominous.

MatchsticksForMyEyesReturns · 12/02/2019 22:36

I don't know how I wanted it to end, but I feel a bit deflated.

gower4 · 12/02/2019 22:38

Were they definitely safe??

Arcadia · 12/02/2019 22:38

What was that ending about? Weird.

viques · 12/02/2019 22:39

Oh dear.......

On a very shallow note I loved Sharon's funeral dress.

MatchsticksForMyEyesReturns · 12/02/2019 22:40

Saw on Twitter that the sign said rip tides, no swimming. I didn't catch it properly. So they were unlikely to make it back.

dayswithaY · 12/02/2019 22:42

Very annoying, haven't enjoyed this series at all. Felt like it was so predictable that Sharon was pregnant (don't they learn?) and wanted to cheer when Rob said he didn't even like her. What a let down. Do you think they drowned?

IcedPurple · 12/02/2019 22:42

Not sure how I feel about that... felt a bit twee. I know Rob has a temper but even so, that outburst was a bit unbelievable.

All in all, series 4 has been a bit sad. It was so obvious they'd run out of ideas and I kept asking myself 'What really is the point of this?' many times. Only a handful of laugh out loud moments in the entire series.

But yes, I'm sorry it's over.

IcedPurple · 12/02/2019 22:44

@viques

Yes, that black dress was gorgeous! As is her hair. She's such a great looking woman.

gower4 · 12/02/2019 22:45

I thought the point was they were safe together?

SheWoreBlueVelvet · 12/02/2019 22:49

I think the point was they were not safe but together.

A reflection of their relationship. Which was a catastrophe.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 12/02/2019 22:51

Well I wish I had gone to bed at 10 now, what a shit ending!

IcedPurple · 12/02/2019 22:51

Felt like it was so predictable that Sharon was pregnant (don't they learn?)

I think an unexpected pregnancy is the fall-back for every scriptwriter who's run out of ideas. Yes, I know it can happensbut to go by TV, contraception hasn't been invented yet.

wanted to cheer when Rob said he didn't even like her.

It kind of reminded me of when someone told Donna in "Pulling" that she was incapable of loving another person. I sometimes think Sharon is Donna all grown-up. Totally self-absorbed, so much so that she doesn't even know it.

gower4 · 12/02/2019 22:59

That is an incredibly upsetting ending if they're not safe! The poor kids. The reviews so far seem to have interpreted a happy ending though.

dayswithaY · 12/02/2019 23:01

I've always thought of Sharon and Donna being the same person - they have identical personalities. In TV shows you always know someone's pregnant when they faint, cry or puke. I actually hope they did drown, they were both so smug and boring this series.

IcedPurple · 12/02/2019 23:06

@dayswithaY

Agree with all that. I think this series seemed almost like an entirely different show, and some of the characters were barely recognisable. It totally lost its 'edge'. Mark Bonnar's character in particular was like a totally different person, as was his once delightfully bitchy wife. They all became just so bland.

GrimDamnFanjo · 12/02/2019 23:13

I saw it as "can't live with each other, can't live without each other."

Cel982 · 12/02/2019 23:16

That ending was really unsettling, with the kids asleep in the car as they drifted out... I'm choosing to believe they swam back to shore safely, but ugh. Wish they'd gone another way.

gower4 · 12/02/2019 23:18

Really haunting thinking of the children in that hot car Sad

Janus · 12/02/2019 23:25

That was quite an episode! Don’t think I could ever forgive my husband if he said that about me but god she’s so annoying too!
I always make up my own ending with something like that and choose they got back to the car and the kids and have a slightly depressing life together!

EdWinchester · 12/02/2019 23:28

I thought the last episode was rubbish. In fact the last series was disappointing.

Sharon was a horrible person - I was briefly relieved when he said he’d leave her.

Boston looked gorgeous though.

Cel982 · 12/02/2019 23:42

The Boston street scene was filmed in Tunbridge Wells!

IcedPurple · 12/02/2019 23:45

Really? I wonder if any of it was filmed in America?
