Starts tonight, anyone else ridiculously excited about it? Just finishing up rewatching to the end of season 3 now and can't wait.

I'd say that between Rob's dream and the later foreshadowing talk about potential widowhood, that those of you who suspect he's terminally ill are on to something. In real life Rob Delaney's son died between the last season and this one, so I wouldn't be surprised if an exploration of grief is on the cards for the show. He's done a few interviews about the interconnection of grief and humour, so I think this is something that really means something to him.

Delatron · 31/01/2019 17:28

Yes I was wondering about his real life situation. Someone mentioned upthread he seems detached in this series and I can understand why.

He’s very open about taking about his son’s death and his grief. Heartbreaking.

SavageBeauty73 · 31/01/2019 18:27

Douglas with the band! First time I've laughter this series

SavageBeauty73 · 31/01/2019 18:27

*laughed

Tuppencew0rth · 31/01/2019 19:58

Oh my god. I love it even when it’s not good I still love it. The Irish humour is sooo so so so so so on point. The bitchiness unlikeable-but-likeable of SH is so dublin. I’M HOMESICK!!

I sometimes spotted her clothes in Anthropologie. Rixo dresses. Love it all.

My favourite episode so far was the get healthy one. The babysitter - “are you going raving?” “People like you - 60 or whatever - shouldn’t move” Grin

Clionba · 01/02/2019 18:45

I agree with pp, Douglas and the band was very funny. I also liked his plastic surgery retort to Sharon!

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/02/2019 20:55

How sad about his son :(

chezbot · 06/02/2019 11:36

@ministerforcheekyfuckery @scotschic Marc Bonnar did the bedtime story on CBeebies last night,

Cheesymonster · 06/02/2019 14:19

Really enjoyed this week's episode. Johnny Squirtypants Grin

Clionba · 07/02/2019 07:35

I thought this was a better episode. The baby was there, but on the floor Hmm.
I felt for Harita with that ghastly boss, all pally with the men.

Iwantedthatname19 · 07/02/2019 07:45

Does anyone else think that Catherine (mother of Daphne) seems to have changed character a bit this series? Maybe it's deliberate, to show that motherhood has made her more pragmatic.

If Rob's so busy at work how can he go and meet Sharon from school? Must be about 4.30/5pm?

dogsdinnerlady · 07/02/2019 08:06

Sharon always seems to leave school at the same time as the pupils - I thought teachers left later. Some of the things she says are really cringey - the service for the dead teacher - talking to the kid who wet himself because he was scared of her. She wouldn't last long in a real teaching situation. But, I love the show.

Boredboredboredboredbored · 07/02/2019 09:52

Ah I love it!! It reminds me of the mine and dp relationship. Sarcastic but we love each other really!

Cheesymonster · 07/02/2019 11:26

I loved her speech to the new head. Don't tell me my blouse is nice. I know it's nice.

ItsHardToExplain · 07/02/2019 12:28

Isn’t the big boss at Robs work Carrie Bradshaws Mr Big?

CreakyBlinder · 07/02/2019 12:32

I still feel a bit Confused about it.

I mean, a storyline about a wet patch?

Although I did enjoy her 'I'm fed up with men' speech. Could have written it myself Grin

EachandEveryone · 07/02/2019 22:44

Yes Mr Big is still gorgeous

youngestisapsycho · 08/02/2019 14:13

Well if he had been sitting in the wet, it wouldnt have still been there in a puddle when he got up surely?!

lurkingfromhome · 08/02/2019 16:15

I think the writing is really poor this season and some of the story lines (a wet patch, really Hmm) are clutching at straws to say the least. Quite liked the "death to the patriarchy" theme but it's all done in such a laboured way.

There was also a TERRIBLE bit of exposition in the first ep where Rob said something about the Stasi and Chris said "What's the Stasi?" so that Rob could explain "The East German secret police" - as clearly viewers were thought to be too stupid to appreciate the wit of it all. That's pretty poor.

Lottapianos · 08/02/2019 16:20

Anyone else about 'OH ITS MR BIG!' when he popped up? His eyebrows are really quite something

I've always been iffy about this show. Sometimes it's very funny, and I adore Sharon's clothes, and I love her and Rob, but I'm not sure it's as funny as it could be. There's something a bit formulaic about it

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 08/02/2019 16:20

Another nothing episode for me this week; last week’s was ok and the one before that better but I’m glad it’s ending this series.

I don’t think they will address Carrie Fisher’s death, if they’ve not done it by now there seems almost no need.

But - can I get a HOLY MOLY for Mr Big?! Yay! Pity the episode was gruel.

peachgreen · 08/02/2019 16:33

I fancy Rob so much. He is pretty much my ideal man (he's very similar to my husband) and I'll be gutted if he dies! Though I know it's the last season of course so doesn't matter. But I want them to have a happy ending.

Lottapianos · 08/02/2019 16:40

He is yum Peach, and even more so outside the show, where he seems to be all about the checked shirts and bushy beards. Mmmmmmmm Smile

peachgreen · 08/02/2019 22:30

@Lottapianos oh God I know, I find myself swooning over interviews and refusing to follow him on Twitter because it would merely exacerbate my already problematic crush.

45andahalf · 11/02/2019 14:03

I have a little boy who loves Bitz and Bob on CBeebies, and I was delighted to see Rob voices one of the characters.
