Oh my good god. Just coming to the end of the first new episode. Thrilling.

Idris is also not bad to look at!

I think HN plans strategic murders, very well planned out, with needles and things, and she "matches" one of her patients to each crime as a suspect with notes and recorded confessions. I reckon that used to be enough for her and her DH, but now he's got a brain tumour, he's behaving recklessly and not being as thorough. It's not planned, he's just taking opportunities (the bus, the fridge lady) and not telling HN or covering his tracks as well, so there's no easy suspect for HN to hand over if they get caught.

I think that's why HN keeps asking about his symptoms and telling him he needs to be calm and fight his urges or he'll end her career and her liberty.

canigetaliein · 04/01/2019 10:14

One thing I liked was that fridge girl went for it & fought back.

helzapoppin2 · 04/01/2019 10:19

Wouldn’t the police get suspicious if a number of her patients were murderers? Unless her speciality is treating psychopaths. Perhaps she could have a go at treating Alice.

Iamdobby63 · 04/01/2019 10:23

It’s possible that although she would obviously be aware of having investigative scans she may not actually know the results or the true results. Just a thought, probably off the mark. Lol -

I did wonder whether the wife was once in the position of his latest kidnap victim and he brainwashed her, hence his statement to the latest victim ‘I’m going to make you love me’.

But maybe not... I do love programmes that have you going around in circles.

cheesydoesit · 04/01/2019 10:24

The hit man that killed Benny was Miller from Foyle's War.

Iamdobby63 · 04/01/2019 10:28

Oh and I meant to add that as they had worked out that he left the hospital in an ambulance, I hope they have the common sense to check that the husband hadn’t arrived in that ambulance that was treating the wife’s stab wounds......

helzapoppin2 · 04/01/2019 10:37

The husband leaving in an ambulance was odd. Wouldn’t the paramedics be asking him all sorts of questions?

helzapoppin2 · 04/01/2019 10:47

.....such as “Who are you?”

GoldenSyrupLion · 04/01/2019 10:48

Maybe Alice and Cheeks end up in adjacent jail cells.

brassbrass · 04/01/2019 11:03

I'm struggling with this season as much as I was looking forward to it. The writing is a bit off.

  • Suddenly announcing Jeremy left the hospital with paramedics.
  • Benny sacrificing himself. Why would he suddenly commit Hari Kiri like that? He would have done better causing a distraction for Alice to go psycho on the hitman.
  • Woman victim barely fighting for herself even when she was untied.
  • the awful lighting throughout. When the two colleagues enter Luther's house they're looking at a document in the frigging dark. Who wouldn't switch a light on FFS. It's not moody photography just too try hard!
Bluntness100 · 04/01/2019 11:06

Which woman victim? I thought fridge lady fought well,,,

brassbrass · 04/01/2019 11:10

Oh and Halliday finding the exact MRI Jeremy had been looking at. That drawer had loads of files and each one could have had an MRI in it. It's possible for patients to have multiple ailments so their medical file may contain x-rays MRIs etc over time. Luther asked why would a heart surgeon look at an MRI? Why not if the patient had multiple issues. Didn't make sense to me.

brassbrass · 04/01/2019 11:12

Fringe lady. At one point she had her hands by her side while she was being throttled by HN

StoorieHoose · 04/01/2019 11:14

Maybe she had pins and needles after being tied up for so long?

surferjet · 04/01/2019 11:15

It’s all a bit silly tbh.
As if a group of top gangsters would have just let Alice ( a random stranger )wander in, & wearing a coat that looked like she had 58 machine guns under it.

brassbrass · 04/01/2019 11:17

StoorieGrin

Charley50 · 04/01/2019 11:17

@Iamdobby63 - I wondered that about his wife and Stockholm Syndrome.

Re: ambulance: I think he's in it. Luther was a little distracted and no-one else seemed to check..

Alice is a liability to say the least! Why didn't the hitman just kill her? She's the bad guy as far as mr gangland is concerned.

Awrite · 04/01/2019 11:17

Luther passed an ambulance on the way into the hospital - sirens blazing.

The lady in the basement had recently been drugged unconscious.

Agree, lighting bad. Adds to atmosphere I guess.

Don't know Benny's intention. We didn't actually see him killed so maybe he's still alive. Wishful thinking.

Charley50 · 04/01/2019 11:18

I hate the lighting. It's so bad it looks blurry.

BeyondShattered · 04/01/2019 11:49

Dunno about all these fancy London locations (like Hampstead woods... Wink ), I'm looking out for the bit filmed outside the courthouse in Newport, that I spotted being filmed about 9 months ago Grin

SymphonyofShadows · 04/01/2019 12:47

HN having the tumour would explain her tiredness. The talk about her liberty and career could just be delusion.

AuntieStella · 04/01/2019 13:24

Or symphony it might simply be 'I don't want to spend my dying days banged up, and I want to have as much fun as possible in the time left'

and the 'career' might be that of serial killer

Are any of the Lake murders ones she could not have done?

SymphonyofShadows · 04/01/2019 13:35

True

BlancheM · 04/01/2019 13:36

I'm already looking forward to tonight's finale.
I reckon Alice is going to kill either Luther or herself depending on whether things go her way or not. It will be driven by narcissism, not sacrificial love, since sociopaths aren't capable of love.
I'll overlook the plot holes, it's just a bit of fun. The whole show isn't exactly realistic anyway!
The piquerism storyline made me think of the serial killer Albert Fish 😷

iklboo · 04/01/2019 13:45

Hmmm. Have the police checked she even is a registered / practising psychiatrist? She just rocked up at the station with James' file - which she could have just cobbled together by befriending him or from meeting on online forums? I know she had a client in one scene but that doesn't mean she isn't bogus, especially if it was a private patient.
