Oh my good god. Just coming to the end of the first new episode. Thrilling.

Idris is also not bad to look at!

The surgeon's brown book will reveal all. How many, how they died, HN's involvement, everything.

Yeah, the George stuff is not as good as the detective stuff. Halliday has pretty much solved the case on her own. And by breaking rules. Go her.

SymphonyofShadows · 04/01/2019 07:49

Benny is a tech expert, he never would have made that call without withholding the number

longwayoff · 04/01/2019 07:51

Shaft! No subliminal messaging there, then. Richard Roundtree was fab.

icelollycraving · 04/01/2019 07:53

I thought that too about Benny. Still, he had the shit kicked out of him. Being shot was probably preferable to being tortured. What a decision to make.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 04/01/2019 08:09

I’m sure Jeremy and HN alluded to an attsck they did together - at the beginning of the episode, they were briefly discussing “little miss Birkenstock”? I missed what was being said though. It happened in Australia and I think they followed the rules (that's what HN said) whatever they may be...I thought the doctor husband was hitching a lift to go back home as he knew what HN might be getting up to with the girl. Think she not he is the 'dominant' one in whatever they do - hence her belittling treatment/torture of him at the first episode.

I agree that there's too much violence in this series - it's pretty relentless. I can't see that it's going to end well for Luther (not sure about Alice), although the trailer for the last episode would indicate that they manage to outwit the baddies.

FabulouslyGlamorousFerret · 04/01/2019 08:11

Too many people have been killed now for Luther to move forward as the good guy now, I think he will die at the end of this series and it will be the last.

He was directly responsible for Benny's death (due to his relationship with GC) ...and Erol's, and probably Mark's - surely he won't survive Mr Palmer!

Miss Chirpy Chops will probably be offed too by 10pm too.

I'm far too invested in this 🤣

Encyclo · 04/01/2019 08:13

Didn’t he ask her to “get rid of it?” I don’t think that was her first time getting rid of a person either. She loves to “play” too that much is clear

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 04/01/2019 08:20

Encyclo do you mean the girl in the basement? I thought HN was only alerted to her presence in the house because the girl screamed when a spider crawled over her? And, thought that his rush to get away from the hospital was because he knew she'd found the girl and he was worried about what she would do to her.

BUT having said that DH was talking to me so I might have missed something vital.

Remember the scene near the beginning when the husband is standing naked face to the wall with all the images being screened over him - presumably that was at HN's instigation? Wondering whether she's feeding him a line about his urges etc... and yet she's subliminally leading him on to do such things?

NoWordForFluffy · 04/01/2019 08:21

I think it's too complex to say if it's him or her; they feed off each other. It may have started with one of them, but they're inextricably linked now. Match made in hell you might say (how do you end up being a couple of psycho killers together?!).

NoWordForFluffy · 04/01/2019 08:23

He told HN to 'Get rid of it,' as he'd seen Halliday and Schenk arrive at the hospital. He told her things had changed, so something like that, and that she needed to get rid of it. He escaped the hospital at speed to swerve the police.

Encyclo · 04/01/2019 08:24

She was alerted by the spider/scream “Newmodel but later he left her a message saying things had escalated and she needed to “get rid of it”

Iamdobby63 · 04/01/2019 08:28

I think the wife has the brain tumour, which is why the surgeon is looking for a replacement (Stockholm syndrome comment). Perhaps the wife doesn’t know she is dying. Preparing to be way off the mark... probably the surgeon lol

OrgyofSausages · 04/01/2019 08:34

The house is in the closed off section of Highgate Cemetery, the section you have to get a pre booked tour to see (and even then a lot of it remains out of bounds). I went there on a tour about 3 years ago with my family and was struck by the weirdness of the ultra modern glass house. It is bizarre and completely out of place there. The section of the cemetery on the opposite side of the road is much more cheerful and less spooky! I love the current series for its London vibe - the address George had traced (Paul McGann's house) for eg is in Finsbury Park and there are loads of other London sites, In yesterday's episode Luther drove through the Strand underpass! my dh was cheering because he refers to it lovingly (don't ask) as the Strand Underpants Grin.

Anyway onto to more pressing matters: RIP Benny Sad but at least he gave a description of the hitman to Luther first. I think that the wife Hermione N is the one who is dying, which explains why she will take the rap for her beserk dh - what's she got to lose?

I am hoping that Shenk will come through and do something a bit dodgy but morally necessary which will ensure George gets sent daaahn for a good long stretch.

Will Alice disappear in an operatic blaze of violent glory? I think she will have to kill herself in order to save John which will be her redeeming feature - ultimately despite being a cold blooded murderer it will demonstrate that she is capable of love and sacrifice.

All will be revealed....Grin tonight!

Bluntness100 · 04/01/2019 09:03

It's an interesting thought that it's the wife who has the tumour, it doesn't explain why she would be worried about her career and liberty though if she is dying, but she might not know.

I suspect it's him as she as asking him about his appetite etc.but it could be her and its trying to make you think it's him.

I tell you what though, she takes getting stabbed well. That's the second time and she seemed ok with it 🤣

surferjet · 04/01/2019 09:10

I could never understand the Luther love on here, but having watched this series I’m getting it - it’s his personality.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 04/01/2019 09:19

Thanks for enlightening me Encyclo - clearly when DH started chatting to me.

There seems to be a lot of transference and counter-transference going on with HN and her DH. HN defo seems the more 'in control/controlling' one but who knows?

I think that you are right that Alice will 'take it on the chin' for Luther. Hoping Mark doesn't die too. Wondered whether George's super assassin is a police officer (although not quite sure why)?

MaidenMotherCrone · 04/01/2019 09:23

I think psychiatry/psychology must be the perfect career choice for psychopaths.

I wonder how many there are hiding in plain sight as it were.

I love Alice.... I can see a bit of myself in her which is slightly worrying.

I am not a psychiatrist/psychologist or a psychopath btwGrin

AuntieStella · 04/01/2019 09:32

I think the person with the tumour must know - you can put unconscious people into scanners, but it's a hell of a palaver and having the dept open at an odd time would be conspicuous.

I wonder if dead patient (James? who was expended too soon) was meant to be the person he-Lake was meant to frame if it all went wrong after she-Lake incapacitated/dead. So something about the witnessed murder spooked him enough for her to trigger the use of James.

There's definitely a folie a deux - what would the Wests have done had they been rich, well-educated and resourceful?

And I think she is the dominant one of the pair.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 04/01/2019 09:45

HN definitely playing mind games with her DH. There's some type of extreme S&M thing playing out between them too. Are all the killings we've witnessed (linked to them) of the same type though? I reckon he might be responsible for the 'impulse' ones (the first one we saw and on the bus) and she the strategically positioned 'needle' ones

A bit silly using the same property as had been used in another drama (the owners must be raking it in!) - I recognised it immediately too, although struggling to remember the plot of the Silent Witness episode it was in? Don't think it was that long ago though.

Would the pathologist have been able to identify whether it was a male or female brain? And wouldn't the patient's name (and other identifying details) been on the scan picture?

Yousignup · 04/01/2019 09:45

@Bluntness100 when has she been stabbed before?

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 04/01/2019 09:47

She was stabbed on Hampstead Heath (at the end of the first episode), allegedly by James...

Bluntness100 · 04/01/2019 09:49

Yup, she was stabbed in the arm in the first episode and then stabbed in the side last night, neither time did she seem to bleed excessively. I'd have been rolling about screaming I've been stabbed I've been stabbed 🤣

NoWordForFluffy · 04/01/2019 10:04

I thought that too, Bluntness. We didn't see her get medical attention either time!

Yousignup · 04/01/2019 10:14

Ah yes, I'd forgotten that. Just a flesh wound x 2 then!

Moondancer73 · 04/01/2019 10:14

He's super easy on the eye, seriously hot 😛😍
