RTL -- PMSL at

"Q. What are Harold Saxon's plans for the National Health Service?

A. The present shortage of doctors and medical students is certainly high on Harold Saxon's agenda."

MrsWho · 23/06/2007 21:54

Unless he is going to defend the Dr?

when he said ''its like when you fancy someone and they don't notice you exist' and Jack said 'you too?' to Martha

Anyone else LOl at the tellytubbies? 'evolution' says Saxon

OP posts:
lemonaid · 23/06/2007 21:54

I'd assumed that was one of the bits I'd missed. Maybe it's that Jack's immortal and MArtha isn't, so getting her out of the Master's way is a higher priority? (But on an objective level having your sole earthbound freedom fighter being immortal would have been handy)

MrsWho · 23/06/2007 21:55

going to watch again now

OP posts:
lemonaid · 23/06/2007 21:56

In the middle of watching again now (bizarrely, was on "you too?" scene as you posted that [Twilight Zone doo-doo-doo-doo noise]) (sod waiting for tomorrow).

RedTartanLass · 23/06/2007 21:57

Oh Mrs Who can I join you??? DP is cheesing me off, by reading the posts on OG in his Simpons' Comic Shop Guy voice.

However it is mildly amuaing , but don't tell him

MrsWho · 23/06/2007 21:58

he said 'this regeneration is a bit cheeky '

OP posts:
lemonaid · 23/06/2007 22:02

Come to think of it, given that all the other alien encounters are explicitly referenced in the Saxon broadcast, why is this one being trailed on TV as "First Contact"?

RedTartanLass · 23/06/2007 22:04

Oh wow Lemonaid good point!!!

MrsWho · 23/06/2007 22:05

because all the others they went straight for the guns

OP posts:
UnquietDad · 23/06/2007 22:05

The Teletubbies thing was a cheeky reference back too. In one of the Jon Peertwee episodes the Master is watching "The Clangers" and refers to them as an "intelligent extra-terrestrial species".

It's clear from his expression that he is taking the piss (as he Simm Master is here) and yet some fans persist to thi day in believing that the Master genuinely thought the Clangers were real!

MrsWho · 23/06/2007 22:07

Yeah JS was a bit sarky over it.

Haven't seen the Clangers one though!

OP posts:
UnquietDad · 23/06/2007 22:08

MrsWho - it's The Sea Devils (one everyone who was a child in 1972 remembers!) where the Master is in prison.

AttilaTheMum · 23/06/2007 22:10

They showed the Clangers clip on DW Confide ntial

lemonaid · 23/06/2007 22:11

Anthropologically speaking (and presumably xenoanthropologically speaking too) first contact is the first meeting of two cultures previously unaware of one another, though. Guns are an entirely acceptable aspect.

( that I am giving so much thought to how fictional subeditors on fictional news programs in a fictional universe dealing with fictional events headline their stories)

MrsWho · 23/06/2007 22:11

UQD- I was born in 1978

Atilla -was that tonights? haven't wattched it yet

southeastastra · 23/06/2007 22:12

quick hijack on behalf of my son. does the master have two hearts?

lemonaid · 23/06/2007 22:12

Who was that bloke with Martha in the trailer for next week...? We could be wiped away by a veritable tsunami of oestrogen on this thread next week (UD, better lash yourself to a mast or something).

lemonaid · 23/06/2007 22:13

Yes

RedTartanLass · 23/06/2007 22:13

yes

lemonaid · 23/06/2007 22:13

(Yes, two hearts, and yes, unacceptable levels of geekery, sorry )

MrsWho · 23/06/2007 22:14

The master is a timelord so yes I would say so (haven't seen any tests though to prove it!)

Lemonaid -I thought that too , really shouldn't go out next week should I ?
