Have not been able to log on until now. My quick thoughts

plot: Bit too twee on the whole, I liked the 'miming' bit but need much more Stephen Moffatt stuff.

CT: could have been worse though did lapse dangerously once or twice (bit near the end about 'mating' in particular - I winced). Still not happy about her but we'll see.

Rose: jumped up and down and squealed like a five year old

DT: Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

AitchTwoOh · 08/04/2008 16:57

i agree, it must be difficult to say 'er, Rusty, this plot doesn't really hang together, ya know? what's the big deal with the pill, everyone's happy aren't they?'

Nymphadora · 08/04/2008 18:37

Sphil something in Times about that too!

sphil · 08/04/2008 20:37

The Times! Blimey...

Must be true then

davidtennantsmistress · 11/04/2008 21:21

dtm is now off to cardiff for the w.e given how DT has split fomr his new GF! lol.

is it me thou or not only was that first ep rather weak, but also there was far too much music, & it wasn't really the music that fitted in.

hoping they don't try to get to epic with it all like the xmas special.

even the rose bit returning didn't get me so excited

AitchTwoOh · 11/04/2008 21:28

oh it was definitely weak imo, no question. no real jeopardy.

Solitaire · 11/04/2008 21:31

The first of the runs always are though. You know new assistants settling in etc. Next week it will be oohh look were we can go, and then the assistant will realise that with great power comes great responsibilty ect (soory nicked that of Spiderman )

davidtennantsmistress · 11/04/2008 21:35

lol. dunno thou I loved the first one wiht rose/DT. that one was good, but yes I guess you're right didn't think so much of martha's first one.

AitchTwoOh · 11/04/2008 21:37

i can't actually remember the first eps. oh no, hang on, martha's was the hospital on the moon? it was okay...

Solitaire · 11/04/2008 21:39

It'll hot up soon enough. And now that we know that theres usually a theme running throught the series that will lead to the climax we can try and work out what is significant and whats not.
And anyway, when we where kids the costumes and sets were creeky and a bit rubbish at times. Now its the plot that a bit creeky. It wouldn't be Doctor Who without a bit of creekiness somewhere

Nymphadora · 12/04/2008 09:04

apparantly this years theme is a bit who/what/where/when rather than a 'word'

Nyeh · 12/04/2008 19:42

Metella in atrium sedet!

PersephoneSnape · 12/04/2008 19:45

tonights was pretty bloody awful as well. household gods indeed. don't get yourself in a lather - hells bells, it's not comedy! (especially with la tate) when will it pick up!? whennnnnn?? Rusty you are ticking me off.

in happier news - the doctor who exhibition is coming to Kelvingrove museum in Glasgow next year, in March. it's a year away and we're already very very excited in the snape household. it's my sons 11th birthday the week after it opens - we're having birthday picnic in kelvingrove park with all the small boys, then off to see the daleks!

edam · 12/04/2008 20:57

Does it mean 'Medella sits in the atrium' by any chance?

Nyeh · 12/04/2008 21:09

Oddly enough it does... see, I retained Latin.

Never thought I would see the characters from the latin books in an episode of Dr Who

SallyInYorkshire · 12/04/2008 21:13

yay!!!!! cambridge latin course!!!!!!
caecilius' family was the dullest ever... I guess the joke is that this is their secret story which they were not allowed to mention to anyone ever.....

but that was the only good bit of the episode really. otherwise I think the adipose episode was much better.

edam · 12/04/2008 21:15

Did you watch Confidential? Apparently both Russell T and one of the producers used the same textbooks at school.

What are the chances of Diogene the little saussicon-chien from O-level French cropping up on Dr Who, though.

Nyeh · 12/04/2008 21:18

Terrible episode in all other respects

Missed confidential - will find it later

RustyBear · 12/04/2008 21:19

I was wondering what on earth I'd done to upset you for a moment there persephone!

I remember the Cambridge Latin course! - in fact we were the first school to use it - it hadn't been propoerly published yet & it was in little orange pamphlets.
I haven't actually seen this episode yet as DS was watching West Brom on sky - is it repeated tomorrow or will I have to find it on Iplayer?

PersephoneSnape · 12/04/2008 21:45

rusty you're just fine with me --- unless you happen to write/direct/cast the darn thing in which case you shall have a hard stare....

Monkeytrousers · 12/04/2008 21:53

cath tate was terrible. So annoying. She can't act at all!

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 12/04/2008 21:54

I wish they would get Catherine Tate a sports bra 'cos her bouncing tits when she runs are very annoying.

cornsilk · 12/04/2008 21:55

Household gods bit at the end was something a 10 year old would think up. Silly ending.

Frizbe · 12/04/2008 21:57

I wish Tate would stop lapsing into her other characters when ever she gets into a spot of bother, she sounds like bloody Nan virtually every time she gets in trouble

Monkeytrousers · 12/04/2008 22:04

That's all she was doing though - her characters. It really doesn't work. Think they've made a big mistake casting her
