old one

OP posts:

We all liked Sally Sparrow because a) the actress was very good and b) the Mighty Moffatt wrote the dialogue. And he does have a two-part episode in series 4, so I'm expecting fireworks.

UnquietDad · 04/07/2007 13:11

and c) she was well fit.

SueBaroo · 04/07/2007 13:21

Got to admit, she was very pretty, UQD.

But she didne stir ma loins...

persephonesnape · 04/07/2007 14:09

it's just. plain. WRONG.

not happy at all. :'(

foxinsocks · 04/07/2007 14:12

Steven Moffat is a fab writer - did you see he has done Jekyll as well which, if you ignore the annoying twat that is James Nesbitt, is actually very good.

I can't stand C Tate. Can't see why she's got it. Would rather see a no namer given a chance tbh.

slalomsuki · 04/07/2007 14:17

More cybermen and daleks here and less Martha and Catherine Tate.

The best episode was the Sally Sapprow on and the worst IMHO the one with the layers of traffic.

However ds1 says he like CT and like Martha.

I thought it might have been the dishy male doctor from the last episode who was shot trying to kill John Simms

Mossy · 04/07/2007 15:17

Foxinsocks I've been watching Jekyll and have to admit, I've never been a fan of Nesbit until now!

Yes, wouldn't it've been great if Sally Sparrow could have been the new companion?

finknottle · 04/07/2007 15:38

I hope you notice I started a new thread about CT so as not to sully this one with slurs of any kind

lemonaid · 04/07/2007 15:59

(Hey, SueBaroo, did you notice my (very subtle, admittedly) Doctor Who reference on the MM thread? Didja, didja?)

SueBaroo · 04/07/2007 16:52

Goes back to check..

SueBaroo · 04/07/2007 16:55

brain collapses trying to wade through hysterical nonsense about dangers lurking around every corner

Nope, you'll hafta tell me

lemonaid · 04/07/2007 17:05

It was just before you shrugged off the shrapnel...

"I'm happy you're glad."

(Now I hope you do get the reference, because I can't remember the name of the episode so my Who-geekery is going to be called into question)

UnquietDad · 04/07/2007 17:07

From Lawrence Miles's blog (no point linking to it, because he takes stuff down as soon as he puts it up:

' Today's News:
The BBC has confirmed that Kylie Minogue will be appearing as a special guest star in this year's Doctor Who Christmas Special. The Australian actress and singer will be playing a new character called "The Face of Boetox", an impossibly ancient pair of buttocks which floats around inside a big glass tank and shimmies enigmatically at the Doctor. Ms Minogue has described the role as "challenging". '

persephonesnape · 04/07/2007 17:29

snerk!

wionder what he would have to say about catherine TATE? ( can't type 'Tate' in lowercase, as I'm spitting the word out at the moment...)

finknottle · 04/07/2007 18:14

lol at the spitting, persephonesnape

Earthymama · 04/07/2007 18:27

Please tell me this is not true!! Please?

Catherine Tate ruined the Christmas episode she is just shouty and awful.

How can they do this, I was SO excited about Kylie, and hoped that Sally Sparrow would get new assistant, but FGS Catherine Tate!?!
I dare not tell DP, who is working late, as it will cause trauma.

I'm going off to sulk now......can't we have a petition to stop this?

persephonesnape · 04/07/2007 18:43

i think there already is a petition - I'll try and drag up the url.

Peachy · 04/07/2007 18:44

totally agree with earthmama!

Terrible, terrible decision

persephonesnape · 04/07/2007 18:47

www.petitiononline.com/bovvered/

please pass this on to everyone you can think of who may be interested. popular will of the masses and all that.

Peachy · 04/07/2007 18:49

signed

thank you

Earthymama · 04/07/2007 19:16

I've signed too.

I've been pontificating to anyone who'll listen about the high standard of writing, the excellent characterisation, the fact it is really not a children's programme and now I feel really let down.

I hope I have to retract all this but I really don't expect to as CT sets my teeth on edge.

sallysparrow · 04/07/2007 20:45

I didnt think she waas that bad in the Xmas show, but not so great either - certainly not worth giving the part to!

Now me, on the other hand...

Peachy · 04/07/2007 20:53

You're just jealous sallysparrow

sockmonkey · 05/07/2007 07:51

signed the petition. I just hope it's not too late for them to change their minds!

lemonaid · 05/07/2007 10:28

Of course it's too late for them to change their minds -- they start filming in a couple of weeks. [ hopefully ] It may not be too bad.
