Morning Glitterball
@x-squared hope it's okay to follow in your lovely footsteps and put out a second thread even with 13 days left to go. If there is another one up already and I am being blind, please link to it.

*Love it, so Charles is now officially Btech Idris, and Kevin (from Grimsby) is officially Gavin and Stacey.

Do we any other ‘official’ mn abbreviation for this year’s contingent?*

Btech Idris
Gavin and Stacey
MWMOB (most worse member of Blue) Lee Rayn (I still cannot believe he inflicted Rayn Ryan, sorry, Rayn Lee Amethyst Ryan on his son) maybe we should just call him Eel Fromblue yes Lee love we know it's an anagram
Pashley mk II (Kim and Pash being the original?)

Highlights from other fora include
Graemey Cricket
Not Trinny
Joetube

and Dr Ranj is quite liking his Miss Ranjie moniker according to his instagram Wink

As for the new pros my other half made various lube comments Hmm whereas Grazziano is Ross from Friends if he carries on with the oil.

Move over Shimmy Jimmy Jordan as Brenda states the obvious here but Kate S with Kev would have been a disaster height wise, c'mon Cole you had too much sangria.

@GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat yes totally agree, if they do have the jive I'm disappointed as I'd like to see them do that later on in the competition as I think they're going to do well.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 11/09/2018 21:22

It's annoying isn't it coveting?! I suppose Vick is tall so perhaps she'd struggle with the jive in any given week...but still Grin

I wonder if the producers are going to go mad with props this year argh!

ppeatfruit · 12/09/2018 08:46

I get the feeling that Vick is a good dancer I don't know why. I'm not on any social media (except this of course!).

Kr250710 · 12/09/2018 12:07

Hi all,

Just checking in to mark my place!! Thanks for new thread :) x

HumbleCrumble · 12/09/2018 13:21

Equally it's frustrating when a talented couple get an advanced dance in the early stages - you wish you'd be able to see it performed in the second half of the series to its full potential.

This is very true. And then you suddenly get a slew of boring cha-cha-chas from the good dancers towards the end of the series because they've run out of showy dances to do.

(Sorry I have just completely jumped on these threads with no introduction/niceties, I got over excited at the prospect of regular Strictly chat!)

ppeatfruit · 12/09/2018 15:27

Humble Everyone is very welcome on these threads Grin aren't they people?

I would only say that if a couple is really talented they'll make something special from any dance (or they should!)

MrsJayy · 12/09/2018 15:45

hi humble we all get a bit excited at this time of the year. I hope Graziano isn't going to be oily like he was on opening night it just looked slimey and Vick has huge hair that could just stick to him

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 12/09/2018 16:07

I used to like it when we had a week that was tango and samba, or foxtrot and rumba. It was much easier to compare!

MozzieMagnet · 12/09/2018 16:08

Hi humble Star - these threads are some of the nicest non-quichey ones on MN Smile Brew Cake.
Re training...
Kevin said on twitter they all started this week except for Lauren and AJ who started earlier as she is competing in Oz.
Kev's twitter is worth a look to see his publicity shots for Rock of Ages! Grin They are quite...something.

OP posts:
MozzieMagnet · 12/09/2018 16:12

Pixie did her jive early too iirc
Helen was saving hers but the long legged often do it in the safe weeks?
Vick should be good -certainly in the contempowaft category as she is trained in that.

What do we think of the jazz/street/contemporary categories being introduced? for ringadingdongers Danny/Ashley/Vick

OP posts:
ppeatfruit · 12/09/2018 16:20

I think it would be a good idea Mozzie about time we had something different for them.

BTW I sympathise with your user name, Grin we're also getting bitten by those mean mossies. I sorted out a good treatment that works for me. It's 2 drops of sandalwood ess. oil mixed with weleda zinc cream or neat ess. oil of lavender. It works!!! DH uses neat tea tree oil which works well for him.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 12/09/2018 16:24

I think it should just be ballroom and Latin — I can live with the other partner dances (the swing ones, Argentine tango), but no further!

MozzieMagnet · 12/09/2018 16:30

Aw thanks for that pp at the time of name change I had 32 bites, bloody ridiculous. I had heard Avon so soft worked accidentally but have not tried it...maybe eating less Cake and Chocolate would help, my blood is clearly sooooo sweet.

OP posts:
MozzieMagnet · 12/09/2018 16:36

I'm in two minds. I don't mind some of the contempowaft on DWTS but quite liked Strictly being different - calling it 'couple's choice' is a weird angle too, but I will try to stay impartial til I see it --then I'll be competing with polkadots for which of us can hoik up our judgypants the fastest!! Wink

I hear that marmite puts them off. Mozzie The temp has gone up to 33C again here, at that heat nothing much stops the buggers! Spraying mint helps.

MrsJayy · 12/09/2018 16:49

Kevins RoA promo photos is quite something 😁

MrsJayy · 12/09/2018 16:51

Oh I am going to use the mumsnetGrin from now on my tablet one looks a bit deranged

AvengingGerbil · 12/09/2018 17:45

Popping in to say hello, and also, I can't look at Graziano in the same way now, because as soon as he appeared on screen, my DH said 'Ooh, it's a young Jay Rayner'.

Tablefor4 · 12/09/2018 17:57

AvengingAngel my DH refers to him as Rodolfo who is a very slimy, flexible ballroom dancer from the stage show of "Matilda"

MozzieMagnet · 12/09/2018 18:15

gerbil that hair's uncanny!!! Grin
He is Ross from Friends for me but someone on DS named him Cinzano-no-buttons which I have to admit creases me up.
But I cannot take the piss out of his name anymore sounding like parmesan since a pp explained it meant thankful (his twin died)
www.hellomagazine.com/film/2018091162201/strictly-come-dancing-new-dancer-graziano-di-prima-full-interview/
I do hope they at least attempt to cut down on showmance-fauxmance seeing as how he's loved up already. Same for Nadija. Save all that crap for Btech Idris and Mrs ex-C.

MozzieMagnet · 12/09/2018 18:18

Marmite? me eating it or wearing it?! Confused Wink

OP posts:
BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 12/09/2018 18:22

My winner prediction just from seeing them walk down the stairs, before they even had partners, is no-one-knows-her Vick. But my favourite is Danny John-Jules, I fell in love with Cat from Red Dwarf and apparently he's not all that different to Cat in real life.

MrsJayy · 12/09/2018 18:23

cinzano Grin

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 12/09/2018 18:31

The comments on this thread are gold Grin Star

Welcome humble I do the same, mean to reference everything I read and promptly forget! Totally agree with the boring chachachas etc towards the end!

Omg Vick's hair sticking to Graziano GrinGrin MrsJayy

Mozzie you made me go look at Kevin's ROA promo shots...argh! So hilarious. Love how he lists 'property investor' in his bio Confused
I'm with you on the Pixie jive. I loved her dances! Gutted she got voted off.

This is the first I've heard of the new genre/category. I'm off to investigate! I watched American (Pie) Reunion the other night and it makes me think of Oz's televised Street dance effort but with partners Grin
Can't stand showdance-y contemptowaft either if that's the alternative.

AvengingGerbil hello! Thank you for the young Jay Raynor comparison, I spat my coffee out!

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 12/09/2018 18:33
