Morning Glitterball
@x-squared hope it's okay to follow in your lovely footsteps and put out a second thread even with 13 days left to go. If there is another one up already and I am being blind, please link to it.

*Love it, so Charles is now officially Btech Idris, and Kevin (from Grimsby) is officially Gavin and Stacey.

Do we any other ‘official’ mn abbreviation for this year’s contingent?*

Btech Idris
Gavin and Stacey
MWMOB (most worse member of Blue) Lee Rayn (I still cannot believe he inflicted Rayn Ryan, sorry, Rayn Lee Amethyst Ryan on his son) maybe we should just call him Eel Fromblue yes Lee love we know it's an anagram
Pashley mk II (Kim and Pash being the original?)

Highlights from other fora include
Graemey Cricket
Not Trinny
Joetube

and Dr Ranj is quite liking his Miss Ranjie moniker according to his instagram Wink

As for the new pros my other half made various lube comments Hmm whereas Grazziano is Ross from Friends if he carries on with the oil.

Move over Shimmy Jimmy Jordan as Brenda states the obvious here but Kate S with Kev would have been a disaster height wise, c'mon Cole you had too much sangria.

well I'm very late to the opening night . Had to tape it and have just finished watching. Will now go back and read what everyone thought .
I am pleased that one of my faves - Dr Raj really looked as if he enjoyed himself, and Kate Silverton wasn't too bad. But you do know how bad it must be that Anton had to break out the ruffles so early on !
The vlogger was a bit nifty , wasn't he :)

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 22/09/2018 21:40

What a show! I'd gone a bit off the boil with Strictly...this year has me hooked Star Glitterball

I'm catching up, only on page 16...Enjoyed the not-too-excessive scoring although some couples seemed a bit underscored. Lauren's was gorgeous for example. I'm going to rewatch them all on YouTube as we sat down to eat and missed a few in the middle.

Felt v sorry for Vick. I expected more and some of the choreography was horrible - booo Cinzano! Didn't like the singers either on that song.

Thought Seann did pretty well, a Sexyback tango is no mean feat (go Katya!). Oti and Mr Cricket were surprisingly good too. I expected extreme dufferness. Loved Joe and Dianne Shock

CocoLoco87 · 22/09/2018 21:40

Im just catching up now. Dr Ranj has just danced. I really like him and hope he does well!

Unescorted · 22/09/2018 21:43

mog DD came out of her room to watch. She almost spoke. I think they will sign up ...or send a text. And there are Zoella's subscribers as well.

awaynboilyurheid · 22/09/2018 21:51

Catching up here too Thought Craig was spot on with Susannah , drunk person dancing, she looked like she'd forgotten where she was and was just staggering about, it was hugely arrogant of her to say Craig should show her how its done! as if he had to prove that he could criticise her.

New guy cut price Gleb(please bring back Gleb forget Brexit we need a vote for this!) The dance was mad and too frantic his partner, might have managed a good jive with basic steps but this made her play catch up with him and didn't show her in a good way.
Cannot warm to Stacey her voice is like nails on a blackboard and the pussycat doll keeps trying to pretend shes not an experienced dancer while showing she really is.
Also why did Shirley comment on Seans (amazing) hair felt it was totally unnecessary, good for him for handling it well it was a bizarre comment. He and katyas dance was funny and entertaining. Also didn't expect to like the wee blogger but he was surprisingly good.

bookbook · 22/09/2018 21:52

well, I missed all the drink ( mmm, not quite sure I'm that taken with some of the mixers...) and the cheesecake .
I did think the costumes were pretty god this year - not so totally OTT as previous years.
Graham Swann was a good one - cricketers always do well. How tall is he that Oti looked right height against him, with those heels on !
What did they see in Faye's dance that I didn't - it was good, but was it that good?

derxa · 22/09/2018 21:54

What did they see in Faye's dance that I didn't - it was good, but was it that good? It was truly wooden

bookbook · 22/09/2018 21:58

thanks derxa - I was being kindish , but yes !

derxa · 22/09/2018 22:01

Of course I can't dance for toffee. So I'm being a bit of a twat.

CocoLoco87 · 22/09/2018 22:05

Just watching Kevin and Stacey. I feel like Karen has won the battle of the Cliftons tonight. Not that I think there's a battle going on but the DM said there was Blush and I believe everything I read on there

CocoLoco87 · 22/09/2018 22:08

If someone is taking drinks orders for next week then mine's Sauvy Blanc in a fish bowl sized glass please Grin

bookbook · 22/09/2018 22:09

I am away next week , so will have to tape it again, and watch on the Monday .

jomaIone · 22/09/2018 22:24

@mogloveseggs Can’t see joe’s teenage fanbase being bothered to faff around signing up to the bbc to vote

I think you underestimate the lengths these fans go to! They're obsessed!

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 22/09/2018 22:31

Joe's fans will just nag their Mums to vote for Joe. How do I know this? Guess. Grin

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 22/09/2018 22:43

Lol at the Joe army!

I thought James Jordan's comments were very fair. I know he's public enemy no.1 Grin I hope Graziano ups his game or I'll be wishing for a Brendan/Neil substitution!

CocoLoco87 · 22/09/2018 22:49

I luffs Neil. I wish he had a sleb partner this year!

BluthsFrozenBananas · 22/09/2018 23:04

Just caught up. After the first group dance I thought Shaun would be first out, but he wasn’t that bad, probably won’t get to Blackpool but not first boot either. I paused it to go for a wee just at a point where there was a close up of Kev ‘n Stace, she had her mouth open in full on scream, and he had the most fake looking rictus grin on his face, you could almost see him wondering just how long he was going to have to put up with her noise for.

SassitudeandSparkle · 22/09/2018 23:26

Have to agree with book above about Anton's outfit - when he finally appeared with his maracas I said that if he has ruffles on his trousers it means that the dancing is not good. He had sequinned trouser the other year. I think they might go first.

Katie Piper froze a bit with nerves I think - I want her to do well, she seems so lovely.

I saw a bit of Joe's rehearsal and said to DD that I thought he might be good - he's very quick although his kicks and flicks then were not great, he really did improve tonight.

Yeah, they need to drop the simpering 'chemistry' comments.

Poundland Gleb Grin Glitterball

ellenanora5 · 22/09/2018 23:38

Gavin and Stacey are going to wreck my brain, they're so bloody loud and annoying already.

So aside from them I thought it was a great start, but Graziano did make it all about him, he was to quick for can't remember her name, Craig was right to mention it.

I've always had a soft for Katie Piper, ever since I saw the first documentary about her, she is amazing so I hope she gets over her nerves and enjoys herself.

Looking forward to next week Grin

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 22/09/2018 23:39

I'm not one to talk but I thought Kevin looked like he'd put on a bit of timber! Maybe his outfit was to blame - not the most flattering Wink Can't blame him for the year he's had. Hopefully staying in the competitive for a good length of time with Stacey will sort it out Cake

ellenanora5 · 22/09/2018 23:41

Oh forgot to mention Anton, he looked ridiculous.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 22/09/2018 23:43

*competition!

I'm bracing myself for Anton and Susannah on catch up, I missed them first time round Grin

RosemaryHoight · 23/09/2018 00:59

I loved it all and thought they were all good and lovely.

I got a bit tearful Lauren and AJ.

MozzieMagnet · 23/09/2018 03:08

Have just watched them all again - the standard is really high this year. So more musings from catching up with the thread. and because I have insomnia
The flying leap salsa move has been done pre Katya...Gleb did it to Anita in their jive, Ashley did it to Ola in their salsa...sure one of you knows the proper name for it teabagging
No chemistry/passion pashion between Pashley doesn't mean no shagging... Rachel Riley is a case in point/great example of the Joey from Friends rule. Wink
Also if Seann nneeded a mann bunn thenn Ashley needed a hair clip.
8 in week 1 isn't that unusual from past series and not far off 9 in week 2 (Soph/Jake/ Jay/Danny in wk 3). I have her down as a ten in week 4 but reckon they are starting extra low all round this week for journey rigging.
I am going to add the word Gent to the drinking game. I assume because Stace is taken she wants to avoid a showmance but if she says Kevlar is a 'gent' one more time...
Joe's jive has had 112 thousand views already. To put this in context the next best is 12-14 thousand views. @Len cannot get him as Scott from Thunderbirds out of my head now. DD wants him as Jack Skellington for Halloween. I just want to feed him Cake
I thought he or Seann might be first out but I reckon both will be safe. That said, Susannah has ballroom and Tony Beak does know his ballroom. Or should I say Anton Du Book - with a fictional romance about Strictly cum Downton Abbey at a good bookstore near you soon. Gran's Xmas pressie sorted and a consolation prize if he ends up being first boot as he has his book signings to look forward to!
I am a fanton but even I'm going Anton Du Berk re the book and the samba: Those balls were a disaster in the making and lucky no-one tripped over them (I was hoping for a deft kick like when Pash deftly kicked his fez out the way). Book summary here Grin:

hello @mycelialnetwork and warm wishes to Elderflower and also to @user1471453601 who was going to watch Strictly for the first time without her mum - I so hope you enjoyed it, I meant to @ you earlier but my kids were playing up. Danny fans seemed happy with him. Elderflower I did not know I knew George Ezra but it turns out I did know Budapest. He is performing Shotgun next Sunday - I am ignorant as I have never heard of that til today (it's no 12 where I am so less airplay) but I just listened to Listen to the man and loved it and adored the video so thank you very much indeed Daffodil and a big hug for next Sunday x
