Starts on Sunday on ITV1.

Yeah I think the son is early 20s now...I got the impression in ep1 that he was a university student (or have I made that up?)

I've just realised that the twin sister is the incredibly irritating Cheryl from Hollyoaks. I think she's been great in this so far

The80sweregreat · 23/07/2018 08:41

who else thinks that the Neil morrissey con man character is Hayley's boyfriend? she has been dead for 18 years and they said that the b/f was 23 at the time so he would be 41 now.
Not sure how the other men all fit in to it, although quiz man did hire the cottage with some other men. good job they had records going back that far! love this show and Nicola walker is very good in it.

southeastdweller · 23/07/2018 09:14

I don’t think Neil Morrissey can pass for 41 these days!

The80sweregreat · 23/07/2018 09:27

No / your right! Thinking about it he can’t be the old b/f! Unless it’s the teacher ? He looked younger. Trying to work out the linkage here.

The80sweregreat · 23/07/2018 09:30

Neil is 56 irl so I’m way out there! 😊

EachandEveryone · 23/07/2018 17:27

That friend who was cleaning looks far too young doesn’t she? She only looked early twenties?

The twin has a great accent doesn’t she? She was fab in the other show with JAmie Doran.

EachandEveryone · 23/07/2018 17:28

Max and Patricia! Smile

Violetroselily · 23/07/2018 17:58

I thought the detective from the first case also looked far too young

The80sweregreat · 23/07/2018 18:07

I suppose if the cleaner was 16 in 2000, that would make her 34. She does look younger though.

FawnDrench · 23/07/2018 20:55

I wonder if the "blogger" woman is significant - she got straight on to an "I blame the parents" blog piece as soon as she saw the newspaper article.
Why would she be in it if she didn't somehow have something to do with the crime?

diddl · 23/07/2018 21:49

"I thought the detective from the first case also looked far too young"

Too young for what?-the actor is late 40s I think.

I thought that the teacher was the boyfriend-didn't he have the same surname as mentioned by the detective?

Violetroselily · 24/07/2018 06:55

I thought they said he was the DCI at the time of the case, which he'd have been pretty young for 17/18 years ago.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 24/07/2018 08:13

Is the guy with the beard (quite trim and clearly 10 years or so younger than the other four) involved? Couldn't work out how he fits in - was he even in the first episode? Is he the teacher?

The80sweregreat · 24/07/2018 08:39

Yes , there was a teacher that popped up from nowhere in epi 2.
All the ‘potential suspects’ seem to be men.
Unless twin sis has a dark secret. How old was Hayley when she died? I missed that bit.

diddl · 24/07/2018 08:41

"I thought they said he was the DCI at the time of the case,"

Didn't he keep referring to what his boss at the time thought?

"Is the guy with the beard (quite trim and clearly 10 years or so younger than the other four) involved?"

Isn't he the "boyfriend" who was 23 at the time?

His name was mentioned by Nicola Walker & then he was seen to get something (with thatname) from a pigeon hole? And yes seemed to be a teacher.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 24/07/2018 09:06

Thanks for clarifying, diddl and The80sweregreat (the 90s were better!!!). I watched it on catch-up and wasn't entirely paying attention.

I reckon the four guys are all involved together. Two clearly rather went off the rails in the aftermath (didn't Neil Morrissey's character's wife say something about him having gone walkabout somewhere exotic for years?) - guilt? Suspect the doctor as the actual 'perp' though, if only because he seems to be the most 'together' of them all.

FawnDrench · 24/07/2018 10:09

Neil Morriseys wife mentioned him dossing around or something like that for 6 years in Singapore when she told him to face up to his responsibilities.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 24/07/2018 10:14

Yes, FawnDrench that was it!

CoolCarrie · 24/07/2018 10:53

Hayley was 15 when she died. I wonder if this series will go along different lines, like accidental death?

diddl · 24/07/2018 11:37

I wonder if the James Fleet character thinks that he did it?

So the suspects are also Kevin McNally, Neil Morrissey & Alex Jennings?

Or they all played a part somehow?

southeastdweller · 24/07/2018 11:41

Hayley was strangled so she didn’t die by accident.

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 24/07/2018 11:50

Theory :

Alan Bennett did it, but Vicar Of Dibley disposed of the body for him hence his care of him now

Neil Morrisey and Paxman witnessed it and that's why NM had a breakdown and went to Hong Kong

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 24/07/2018 12:18

James Fleet (if that's the Vicar of Dibley character) is kind of living 'off grid' isn't he? So perhaps he does think he did it?

There was a scene in the last series, wasn't there, when all the suspects met up for a drink...This lot are supposed to be doing the same, aren't they?

EachandEveryone · 24/07/2018 14:36

Yes but aren’t they planning it as a social outing? In the other season it was because they were all being questioned and needed a plan.

diddl · 24/07/2018 14:43

Who did Kevin McNally phone when he said something like "they've been. It'll all come out?"
