I was being genuine, shame you thought otherwise.

I agree DA's are far too frequently portrayed as being obvious, thick, working class etc when they're just as likely to be well educated, well spoken professionals. For too long even the people supposedly professional experts in the area were in denial about it happening in 'naice' families.

I remember an Inspector Wexford episode years ago where a seemingly lovely GP turned out to be horribly violent and domineering to his wife. Can't remember if he was the killer, though! Think Simon Shepherd played him.

cheapskatemum · 25/08/2018 19:30

Ooh, Simon Shepherd, Clawdy I would love to see him in series 4, I've loved him since he played Piers in Chancer, c.1989!

If you click on HelenaDove 's link a few pages back, you can vote yes for wanting a 4th series. Unsurprisingly, 100% respondents have said yes, I should imagine only die hard fans would read to the bottom of the article and then vote!

Just caught up on this after being on holiday. Some posters haven't been too impressed with NE but I love Cassie. I thought it was a good choice to have it all getting to her and needing time out. I think the character of Sunny has developed nicely. I can't remember the flipping actor who plays him but I think it's the best performance of his career.
Every series has had real quality supporting actors. Tom Courtenay was amazing in series one. James Fleet and Alex Jennings are always great to watch. I'm not too familiar with Kevin McNally but what a great role he had. I loved the scene with his ex wife where she basically said he can't blame himself for his son's problems. As the mother of a wayward teen I can relate to his feelings! However I wasn't too pleased to see Neil Morissey. I'm glad he didn't last long!

Noooooo @MissEliza! Whilst I agree with everything else you said, Neil Morrissey was fabulous. Really played it deadpan and nice failing guy but slimy. I thought he fitted so well in with rest of brilliant actors , felt sorry for bit frustrated at his obvious faults as a human. He made him seem relatable but unlikable except sad and pitiable. He was perfect in the role and underplayed it beautifully! No gurning. I thought he was excellently cast. The usually cheeky chappy.

I have to agree that NM was fantastic in it.

Horrible character, but you could relate & on occasion have a little sympathy.

I also thought that he was good in Line of Duty.

Sanjiv Bhaskar MissEliza and I agree with you about Tom Courtney. He’s not in much these days, but is brilliant in the few things he is in.
The actor who played the Scottish lawyer who was hoping to adopt, in series 2, I thought was excellent too.

cobwebsinthebelfry · 04/09/2018 08:40

Mark Bonnar cheapskate. He's a regular character in Shetland (BBC1 murder mystery) and is an ornament to the series.

cheapskatemum · 09/09/2018 23:41

Thanks cobwebs I think he knocks David Tennant into s cocked hat, must check out Shetland!
