Hi all

Here is the next thread for those who are watching The Handmaid's Tale Season 2 on Channel 4. Please don't put any spoilers on this - the other thread (for those in other countries who are watching ahead of the UK) is:

The letters!

This is what Luke can do!

Roussette · 15/07/2018 21:46

Thank god the letters are out of Gilead

RedorBlack · 15/07/2018 21:46

At least they are not knocking around for Eden to find now

CurbsideProphet · 15/07/2018 21:47

I think that bar was called The Comrade, so perhaps it's a known hang out for Americans?

AWomanIsAnAdultHumanFemale · 15/07/2018 21:47

Surely they’re refugees? Or asylum seekers? Not illegal immigrants?

WitchSharkadder · 15/07/2018 21:48

BringonSpring, Alaska and Hawaii remain the US. What’s left of the American government is in exile in Anchorage.

kashleesi · 15/07/2018 21:48

Oh it’s like watching a weird tv show crossover to see them all together Wine

Crinkle77 · 15/07/2018 21:49

hygge that's what I was thinking. Surely Canada wouldn't do that!

WitchSharkadder · 15/07/2018 21:49

The part about Canada potentially extraditing the immigrants is in the epilogue of the book. Canada did indeed start sending the refugees backz

MonkeySlutIsBlown · 15/07/2018 21:50

I get so frustrated when the adverts go on!! I just want to scream PUT IT BACK ON AND SHOW ME WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!!

So glad Luke has the letters but did nick make a mistake by giving him his name and occupation?

Serena is desperate for her old life but will happily stay as she is to get a child out of it

JustLikeBefore · 15/07/2018 21:50

Hygge · 15/07/2018 21:51

Surely the timing of the letters getting out will put Nick in the frame.

It's a big risk he's taken.

The more reasonable Aunt Lydia sounds the worse she lashes out usually. This is making me nervous.

kalapattar · 15/07/2018 21:53

that's what I was thinking. Surely Canada wouldn't do that

The UK deports people fleeing dangerous places for them. I suppose it depends on the impact the refugees are having on Canada.

Crinkle77 · 15/07/2018 21:53

Very clever june. Very clever

kalapattar · 15/07/2018 21:54

Any man who would hurt a woman?

What did Aunt Lydia do to to all the handmaids?

AWomanIsAnAdultHumanFemale · 15/07/2018 21:55

How on earth could aunt Lydia make that promise? She isn’t living with the babies. How could she protect them from an abusive man? She is a mere woman in gilead. She couldn’t speak out against a commander.

MonkeySlutIsBlown · 15/07/2018 21:55

It wasn't my fault?

Hygge · 15/07/2018 21:55

This bit with Aunt Lydia might be the best bit of the whole thing tonight.

It wasn't her fault? That's the most we've ever heard about her.

Hygge · 15/07/2018 21:57

A polite Canadian fuck off to the Waterford's.

theredjellybean · 15/07/2018 21:58

So Canada was not believing the escapees who must hVe told the same stories as the letters???

AWomanIsAnAdultHumanFemale · 15/07/2018 21:58

Hang on a minute, they say someone uploaded the letters so now Waterford no longer welcome. But refugees have been saying the same things for ages. Why wasn’t that enough?

Teeandmo50timesaday · 15/07/2018 21:58

This episode feels more and more timely with all the trump protests just now Hmm

Crinkle77 · 15/07/2018 21:59

Why did the Canadian government not believe the testimonies of the refugees who had already left. Why did it take the publication of the letters too force them to do something?

AWomanIsAnAdultHumanFemale · 15/07/2018 21:59

Xpost jellybean

Roussette · 15/07/2018 22:00

Indeed it does Tee
