Anyway, just wanted to get the thread started.

Yes talk of babies is like ‘last day on the force’.

It seems very odd bringing her back for one episode. Couldn’t se have just stayed away indefinitely?

I’d be more pissed off if they had killed her off off screen.

But why kill her off?!? Couldn't they have just amputated some limbs and called it a day?!?

Linda Bassett deserves a BAFTA or something. Acts everyone else off the screen

I knew she was going to die when she rallied so suddenly.

Thought Tom’s acting was a bit over dramatic and never thought that he and Barbara made a convincing couple.

I did think the Psalm and Amazing Grace was nicely done and the voiceover at the end was touching.

Amputation and having her make changes and strive against adversity in her quest to remain linked to midwifery would have been a much better story. Presumably the actor chose to leave the series???

No need call the midwife! I was actually going to start a thread saying that this series hasn’t been as devastating as previous series and then this happens!

I thought the most we were looking at was amputation!!

Why did they just not cut off her fingers? Did they not realise in the 60's that you have to cut off the dead tissue?

My grandad died of septicaemia in the 50's as he trod on a rusty nail, I would have thought that by mid 60's they would amputate as a matter of course.

My friend died of septicemia inthe late 90s she had a urine infection and it just took her over I didn't get to visit her because I was pregnant it was heartbreaking she was 29

They could have done a good story line with them both coming to Terms with her amputations. I love CTM, but this series has been disappointing. Time to stop now.

They killed us into a false sense of security with all the schmaltzy happy endings this series before delivering the killer blow.
