Why have we never seen Angela and ?Teddy Turner In the same scene? It's one or the other. Never all of them together. Weird.

Wow the teal is really obvious in those pics. How come I've never noticed it on a Sunday night or even anyone talking about it on these threads before?!

I posted this right at the end of the last thread but Barbara was dead the moment Tom started talking about their future.

With the teal, I think that it’s partly because everyone is looking for it.

DD and I looked at each other about 8.30pm (when Barbara woke up) and said 'this won't end well, it's too soon'.
I actually had proper sobs when she died and quite ridiculously still felt upset this morning*

As an ovarian cancer survivor, I can tell you that teal is the colour we wear. We have teal ribbons like the pink breast cancer ones.

From her interview with Radio Times, Charlotte Ritchie said she wanted to leave but would have ideally liked the 'door left open'... as they have for most of the other actors who have left. BUT... what would happen to Babs & Tom?They've only just married, so they couldn't split! Hence Babs had to be sacrificed.

I also have a sneeky suspicion it has something to do with Jack Ashton (Rev Tom) being with Helen George in RL. He would obviously have wanted to stay in the series ( as Helen George is supposed to be returning)... and whereas in the past they have kept things open for a main character (think Chummy, Patsy...) and have let the lesser character either drift on or leave (think Sgt Noakes or Delia) this time there was no drifting for Tom and no open door left for Babs.

You watch... Tom & Trixie will be back together before you can say 'Campari anyone?' next season.

Tom and Trixie won't be back together as they were unsuited and that's why they split up.

Oh we must be really heartless - me and DH went from saying Ooohh someone's going to die to trying to decide if it would be Barbara, then deciding not her but likely to be Tom as someone was definitely going, then to a sweepstake to see how long it would take

Last week it was a good 30 minutes before the only birth of the evening, although it was twins. Last night was just the one birth and a whole facsimile of what series 1 was. Lots of social issues approached in a half assed manner and shoe horned in. Dr Turner saving the day and Mrs Turner going from needing an au pair to leaving the kids to fend for themselves.

Settling in for my morning catch up after working today. Sounds like this episode is the usual shit this series has been.

Laughing at the Rolling Stones being "undesirable". I used to like Tim when he was turning into a useful but cheeky teenager but now he's a bit shit.

Phyllis is wonderful. The only decent one among them at the moment.

Long time lurker on this & the old thread,just caught upon my usual Monday morning catch up on iplayer (dh can't stand CTM!)
Jesus,that was a sobfest!As many have said Phillys was amazing,especially the bit at the end on the steps of Nonnatus & the grass engagement ring.
I miss the fact that SJ doesn't feature as much as she used to.
I am a card carrying atheist, but if I ever found myself with some dreadful ailment I would want her at my bedside,with her comforting hushed voice,holding my hand & telling me it was all going to be alright.

So many dramas kill off characters when the actor wants to leave. Why couldn't Barbara have just stayed in Birmingham? Or moved from Birmingham to the country?

I just looked up Linda Basset's IMDB page. She got a Bafta for her role at the mother in East is East. I genuinely think she deserves another for last night's episode of CTM. The moment in the steps outside Nonatus House told you everything you needed to know.
