I stumbled across this on iplayer a few weeks ago and I absolutely love it.

The way that you're quite happily watching and then these touching moments just pause everything. Like the grandad remembering Pete and Kelly's mum 'you were the most beautiful thing...'

I'm not getting the feeling that Cathy is a doormat, or that Pete was unpleasant. I do think she feels a lot of responsibility to everyone around her while at the same time finding their ways quite amusing. She definitely has feelings for Michael but realises how huge it would be if anything was to happen. He's not just any bloke. So she'd have to be really sure they could be together in the long term. Maybe that's why friends is easier.

Why is this show so under the radar? It's excellent.

Poor Michael! I really hope that they get together in the last 2 episodes. Agree I don't want it to end - Lesley is such a brilliant actress well all of them are really!

i am a huge fan and i love the characters, but a third series might be pushing it a bit with the same format - it will become 'samey'- unless the writer changes the direction or has new characters in it or something.
i am not sure where he can take them all. i would love Derek to also 'grow a pair' as they say and tell Pauline where to get go. easier said than done i suppose.
i would also buy goods with michael! bless him.

They've finished filming the third series. I wonder when Cathy will snap. It's bound to happen surely.

I was remembering a scene in series 1 where Michael clears away all the crap the useless son has dragged out from under the stairs an left there. He just gently puts it all back quickly and quietly without anyone knowing. ❤️

I was holding my breath in the scene between Cathy & Michael in the kitchen. Lesley Manville & Peter Mullen convey so much over & above the words in the script with their facial expressions - subtle, beautifully paced and utterly believable

It's so so good. The emotion kills me every week.
Liked the bit where the son admitted he wasn't keen on moving out to his girlfriend. And of course the hug.
There must be another episode as that was ep 5.
