J'adore this series. All the old faithful's are back in action.

Can't wait. Saturday 30th December. Channel Four.

Wondering when series 7 will come to UK shores.

Only seen series 6 and already super invested in all the main characters' story lines. Time to go and find the previous five series to binge-watch methinks.

Elendon · 04/02/2018 09:25

I liked the ending, but I want to know what will happen to Josephine!

I understand Laure's escape, reminiscent of the running when she realised she wanted the baby in the last series. I felt her fear then and I understand her fear now.

Some areas were tied up but mostly it's left hanging, as in real life, nothing is fully resolved.

Can't wait for series 7!

Me too Elendon - I think Gilou will drag her back or at least get her to go back.

Josephine's life has been a car crash for years. I thought Edelman was brilliant getting her to face up to things and she did let slip that 'he couldn't have seen her' when she had to be interviewed at the face to face meeting. She needs to tell the judge what that bastard Vern did to her.

I enjoyed it, if that's the right word, it resolved the case and left lots of threads hanging for the next series.

I did want to punch Madame le Maire when she turned up to see Herville though.

ReelingLush18 · 04/02/2018 10:24

Why is Laure so afraid of committing to anything? What's that all about?

Fekko · 04/02/2018 11:01

You don’t really hear much about her background.

Elendon · 04/02/2018 13:07

I'm not sure she is all that committed to Gilou. She needed comfort and Gilou was the most available. I think she went with the wrong man, and it should have been TinTin. I loved that he said to her you do not call me that. Harsh but true.

OP posts:
ReelingLush18 · 04/02/2018 13:25

I would suspect Gilou isn't entirely reliable (but a great shag) whereas TinTin would have been.

Elendon · 04/02/2018 13:31

The problem is though that TinTin was just newly divorced and feeling vulnerable.

fussychica · 04/02/2018 15:51

Oh no looks like my favourite character is out of the picture. Come back Tintin, you're the only one who does your job properly.
Laure, and to a lesser extent, Gilou are getting on my nerves now, pity the baby being released to someone who has made no provision for her care and is pretty unstable, perhaps it's best she gives her up.
Poor le juge and Josephine. I don't mind cliffhangers but not when it's likely to be 18 months or more until the next series is available.
Did make me jump when Jolers shot himself, wasn't expecting that.

Fekko · 04/02/2018 16:02

I thought he might. But did he really murder his colleague or was it the pimp/trafficker?

LooseAtTheSeams · 04/02/2018 16:04

I don't know how Edelman will get Joséphine out of this mess - but I'm looking forward to finding out.
I'm just hoping the hint of regret in his expression when Tintin listened to Gilou's voice on the phone might mean he will change his mind and come back. I'm not sure the others can function at all without him! They don't function that brilliantly with him...
Loved Roban's expression when the doctor said 'vivre'.

Fekko · 04/02/2018 16:06

I think the bad boss man will retract his accusation after she has suffered a bit more, and keep it as a nasty little secret hanging over her so that she does his dirty work.

Moanranger · 04/02/2018 19:23

I think I read somewhere that season 7 is in production, so hopefully not too long to wait.
I think everything about this series is brilliant - the gritty authenticity of Paris, the camera work, the great storylines & plots mixing politics with police and legal system in a believable way. But most of all the acting - the great French tradition & skill really shines through.
The ending - completely unsurprising. What would have been weird would have been Laure walking out of hospital, baby in carrier, looking serene.

Brainwashed · 04/02/2018 19:37

Yes season 7 currently being filmed 😁
AmazingDisgrace watched ep 5 of Dead Beautiful today....oh my!! Some seriously good acting too. Thierry Godard really does vulnerable so well.

wowfudge · 05/02/2018 15:38

It was Moldovan who 'dealt with' Mercier by killing him @Fekko. Vern thinks he is Teflon coated the number of times her has got away with sexual harrassment. He's not going to retract his statement. Josephine has already let slip she was driving so she needs tell the judge and the court what he did to her.

AmazingDisgrace · 05/02/2018 17:34

I know Brainwashed Its such a good episode! I'm trying not to binge it and eke it out a bit longer but since I'm on episode 8 that's not panning out so well!

Fekko · 05/02/2018 17:37

I don't know if she did admit to driving.

‘He couldn’t have seen me’ could be ‘I had a bag on my head’ or ‘I wasn’t there, so he couldn’t have seen me there’.

He will retract if he thinks it means she will be beholden to him.

Brainwashed · 05/02/2018 19:48

amazingdisgrace I have all the earlier seasons of spiral to watch once I've finished dead beautiful. I am contemplating getting hold of A French Village though to continue with my in depth study of Thierry Godard's fine acting skills Wink

SPOILER ALERT
Sorry if this is a huge spoiler but I just have to share as I'm so excited (yes I know it's pathetic)

I'm spending a weekend in Paris and was walking past the Palais de Justice yesterday telling DH about Engrenages/Spiral and how good it is (he hates subtitles so refuses to watch)
I had just explained that many scenes take place on the steps of the Palais

Then someone shouted "action" and there was M. Le Juge Roban being filmed walking up the steps - they were filing series 8!!!!

I can't wait to see it (and look like M. Le Juge will still be around).

officerhinrika · 17/02/2018 20:15

Cortex that’s fantastic! Worth the trip to Paris on its own.

LooseAtTheSeams · 18/02/2018 11:16

Cortex brilliant! I am so jealous!

StableGenius · 18/02/2018 12:02

Gah, I was in Paris at the end of November, why couldn't that have happened to meeeeee?

I'd have been so excited to see M. le Juge I'd probably have embarrassed myself so maybe for the best after all Grin.

wowfudge · 18/02/2018 22:25

I've just started watching the DVD box set from the beginning. They all look so young! Including the rather lovely Pierre. Gilou is dodgy as.

Brainwashed · 19/02/2018 19:35

Gilou may be dodgy as but he's also sexy as....Grin

wowfudge · 19/02/2018 19:38

Each to their own - Pierre is more my cup of tea.
