I think the only difference is that you get a fever first but if you’ve been lanced by an arrow it’s hardly going to be a joy waiting to die anyway.

I guess maybe it spend up deaths/made death happen from a wound they would otherwise survive. But I’m also a bit confused as to the sickness side of things. Most of these people would have survived from a natural immunity from the sickness part of the virus? And the bit they are all carriers of is activated after death. So why would them being exposed to the virus kill them? Or maybe they just were people who have doused themselves in detol since patient zero got sick? I’m sure someone has the answer and I’m just over thinking.

I can understand Gabriel getting something like dysentery from his guts day (or possible the virus as he’s a bit of a wuss who didn’t go near walkers). Why aren’t there more dysentery cases with there being so many dead bodies around, zombies or not?

DH was concerned about the unrealistic amount of bullets being used but I reminded him they’re in the south and they have probably only just used the average daily amount from an American NRA member thus far into the apocalypse between them...

glowfrog · 28/03/2018 04:53

Apparently the theory is that getting bit activates the virus or injects you with the full blown working version of it and so your immune system becomes overwhelmed.

Re: dysentery I am continuously amused by the lack of hygiene on the show, with people casually wiping zombie blood off blades on their clothes...

At the prison they did have an outbreak of some kind of disease, which I think they got from pigs?

As for bullets - these days they tend to kill zombies with knives etc and save bullets for people, so perhaps not quite so unlikely.

Plus there will be a lots of ammo lying around with few people to use it all, so that will help.

BeyondDeadlySiren · 28/03/2018 08:15

I was annoyed by the lack of guards/security at the "hospital" - do they not remember what happened in the prison?! People can die of illness and massively fuck everything up, even if they weren't bit you wouldn't leave the entire "hospital" unguarded. Even thought it was louis ck who turned first, there's bound to be someone who was injured worse and on the edge of death anyway.

OohMavis · 28/03/2018 08:26

I thought the prison sickness was from the poisoned stream? The governer sunk some walkers in it if I remember correctly. There were lots of scenes of them drawing water.

DispatchReady · 28/03/2018 09:07

My understanding was everyone is infected so whether you die by natural causes, infection or being bit, you're going to turn. Look at Sasha. I think the first consensus on Tobin would have been oh he was obviously more seriously hurt than we thought and died in the night from his infection, not oh he died so the weapons must have been zombie laced!

As an aside, what is Fear the Walking Dead like? I saw a preview on The Talking Dead programme and thought it looked good so wondered if worth a go?

MiddleClassProblem · 28/03/2018 09:15

The first season I found all the characters annoying but it finished on an intriguing point. The second series they became tolerable and 1 or 2 you actually start to like. Season 3 is great. There are a few eps with a fair amount of subtitles so if you are doing something else whilst watching there are eps where you have to watch the screen but I don’t think it happened much in season 1.

glowfrog · 28/03/2018 09:18

Louis CK, hahaha!

@OohMavis oh I don't remember that at all about the Governor and the stream, interesting

Yes there was no reason to assume from Tobin's death that the weapons were laced. He could have had a heart attack in his sleep.

@DispatchReady I've watched 2 series of Fear The Walking Dead and I'm "meh" about it at the most. I enjoyed the first series more as it is about the very beginning of the outbreak but I just haven't warmed to any of the characters. At all, and quite a few I actively dislike. The one good thing I'd say about it is that it is trying to be different from TWD.

glowfrog · 28/03/2018 09:19

@MiddleClassProblem I might check out s3 then! I liked what they did with Chris, I thought it was interesting, although it could have gone further.

DispatchReady · 28/03/2018 09:22

Thanks - I might not bother as I have such a huge list of things to watch already but I'll add to my watchlist!

MiddleClassProblem · 28/03/2018 09:27

Yeah, season 1 they are just a bunch of twats. In TWD you warm to Rick pretty quickly in season 1.

Season 3 they are a lot more hardy. I have no idea how twd crossover is going to work given the locations though.

glowfrog · 28/03/2018 11:45

It's not just the locations - we know that Morgan spent a loooong time wandering the woods killing people then with that Eastman guy. So not sure when he found the time for a holiday to the seaside of Mexico.

MiddleClassProblem · 28/03/2018 12:13

Even if series 4 they time hop a bit and travel a bit, it’s a long way to go and an odd place to go so they need a reason to get there. I can’t see how he would go anywhere near them since he’s been on the Atlanta area since ep 1.

I do like the idea that they went on a lads holiday for a bit of bonding in the middle of their ethics training.

StormyLovesOdd · 28/03/2018 13:18

Do you all watch FTWD on BT or is there erm (cough) another way of watching it. I watched series 1 and 2 on Netflix and would like to watch the rest but Im too tight to buy the episodes.

MiddleClassProblem · 28/03/2018 13:23

1 and 2 in amazon. Someone has posted links before for 3 but I’m afraid we used an amazon voucher we got for Christmas to watch 3 (plus I’m too much of a coward these days to search for it 😂)

glowfrog · 28/03/2018 13:59

Same here, Amazon. As I work in the film and tv industries you won't catch me pirating stuff...

Classuposely · 28/03/2018 14:08

I'm excited about this one! Hoping it will be greater.

MiddleClassProblem · 28/03/2018 15:06

Oh I’ve just seen the trailer. It looks like a massive time hop. I hate a gap! I hope they do it well

glowfrog · 28/03/2018 16:00

Smacks a bit of ratings-grabbing desperation tbh.

MinorRSole · 28/03/2018 21:02

I've heard you can watch them on showbox but I wouldn't know anything about that...

cushioncovers · 28/03/2018 21:22

I liked this weeks episode been a while since we had a walker infestation. Henry is annoying though.

MayLeaveADentInYourSofa · 28/03/2018 21:54

I agree cushioncovers. It has been ages since we saw a walker feast like that.

With Fear The Walking Dead, season one was alright, season two okayish, but season three really warmed up.

It looks like there will be a time hop at the start of season four when Morgan arrives and my prediction is, if they have put the two shows on the same timeline, they will eventually merge them.

MiddleClassProblem · 28/03/2018 22:55

Can you imagine Madison going on about what’s best whilst Rick and Maggie roll their eyes?

She like Andrea (tv not comic) if she had settled down and had kids.

Although I’m going to have fun thinking who to ship the kids with.

Willow2017 · 29/03/2018 08:43

I hated ftwd first season never finished it. I couldnt care less about the characters what a dysfunctional lot in that 'community'. And when they tortured that poor squaddie i thought they deserved whatever was coming. Gave up then

May try again but surely it shouldnt take 3 seasons for something to get good?

MinorRSole · 29/03/2018 09:11

I've watched the 3 seasons of it and still don't care who lives and dies. It's very watchable but something about it just doesn't click and I'm not sure what it is. I'll probably watch the 4th season though

Abra1de · 29/03/2018 13:43

I prefer FTWD as the characters aren’t based on cartoon people and have a bit more complexity to them. On the whole. But this week’s TWD was good.
