Simon is getting too big for his boots. Either Negan will kill him once he gets the chance now he knows what happened at the scrapyard or Dwight will kill him and maintain his double agent status.

It was exciting to have a new character introduced though. I am getting a bit bored of the Negan/Rick dance.

DontOpenDeadInside · 20/03/2018 07:14

I thought it was one of the better episodes. And I actually understood 99% of the dialog as there was minimum mumbling. Even Daryl Shock. They must be taking elocution lessons.

StripySocksAndDocs · 20/03/2018 07:16

Maybe Simon will kill him, in licked room.

When Negan discovers all the dumpster people were killed, despite his instruction, Negan will filp out, he'll punish Simon in a locked room. Simon ends up killing Negan in defence; then Negan comes back and eats Simon.

Next episode hopefully.

StripySocksAndDocs · 20/03/2018 07:17

Locked room.

😐

Really enjoyed this episode. Probably the best one this series.

I agree that Negan is becoming tiresome, but interesting to see what Jaydis has planned for him (although it's a stretch of poetic license that she managed to get him into that car - how?). Some great moments with Rick busting Simon on the scavengers. For once, Rick wasn't that cheesey. Usually he's all Kevin Costner (let's do some good Hmm). Negan certainly is not a happy bunny now. I like the new character (Georgie) - felt a bit like Lost when she arrived asking for records?! Wth? It will be interesting to see when she pops up next.

Maggie really should be showing now? Rick's daughter is going to be a teenager and Maggie will STILL be pregnant? I found Enid a bit annoying like Tara was last week. I still like Michonne and weirdly like Negan (because he laughs so much). Simon's days are definitely numbered and as for Dwight, I think he's now in the shit as he hadn't counted on Simon wanting to wipe the Hilltop out. They also have the Saviours imprisoned there to give them more manpower...and that will be the end of Gregory (hopefully).
Only 4 episodes left and it's just getting warmed up - 'bout time! I hope there's some indication as to where that helicopter came from by the end of this series, but next week's episode looks like there will be fireworks Shock

DispatchReady · 20/03/2018 08:50

I'm finding the Rick/Negan stuff so tedious now! Surely Rick could have just gone straight to the overturned car and shot him?! Ridiculous as if it had been any other random he would have.

How come this Georgie character has never come across the saviours?

There will be a Negan/Simon showdown for sure. Where did Jadis come from and yes once again just kill Negan!!

naughtymutha · 20/03/2018 09:02

@DispatchReady but it would've been such a let down if Rick just went over and shot him. I did think how many bullets Rick wasted on him and he didn't even scratch him.

I reckon Georgie character is aware of the Saviours. Maybe she belongs to a community that observes quietly. Her and her 2 strange companions seemed to be well organised and 'professional' looking. Perhaps they are underground?

Everyone is counting on the Negan/Simon showdown, but maybe Negan will offer Simon to Jadis. If/when Negan dies, there needs to be another direction for the storyline to go, so perhaps Negan will be kept imprisoned and will have to work through his badness - will he ever get Carl's letter either?

Iggi999 · 20/03/2018 09:08

It had to be Rick who kills Negan. He told him he would.

DispatchReady · 20/03/2018 09:21

I totally agree naughty and that's why they won't just kill him off that easily but don't have a silly storyline where Rick could have easily killed him but kept missing! I'm still going to keep watching but it really has jumped the shark!

Mammabear31 · 20/03/2018 09:58

It has to be Rick with the axe. That's what Rick told him he would do back in the campervan after Abe and Glenn got bashed sob. I don't think the writers would let him die any other way (but then again, Gimple could ruin it for us all, as per usual)

naughtymutha · 20/03/2018 11:31

For Walking Dead fans, this guy gives a good weekly short review of each episode, if anyone is interested:

Iggi999 · 20/03/2018 13:43

He could have killed him with the axe when he was hanging by his fingertips, instead of making him fall.

glowfrog · 20/03/2018 22:39

I thought the stuff with Simon was brilliant. One minute you think he's being kind of sensible, then the next you realise he's the real bloody psychopath.

Negan is too important to be just killed... I'd keep him hostage, too if I could.

I don't think Negan will die. I think they will find out what Simon has done, realise Negan is weirdly not the monster here and Rick will make Carl's dream come true.

glowfrog · 20/03/2018 22:40

Iggi I thought Negan let himself fall?

Willow2017 · 20/03/2018 23:20

I think Rick was aiming to chop his fingers off like he told Rick he would 'take his hands' and Negan just let go as he knew the hole was there.

Loving Georgie, very intrigued as to where she came from and what she does.

Simons backtracking of his plans that he suggested to Negan a couple of weeks ago and to Dwight was a bitch. But then he is just a big a psychopath as Negan is.

naughtymutha · 21/03/2018 08:48

@glowfrog - I think he did as well to avoid his fingers being chopped

Simon is a complete power hungry loon and has had enough of Negan. I agree that Negan shouldn't be killed off and I think he will be kept imprisoned or they will try to rehabilitate him Hmm but not sure if that would be any way believeable.
I love a charismatic baddie and both Simon and Negan are brilliant. Unlike Eugene, who is just a spineless wimp. My prediction for the next big death is Dwight and then Simon. They're not the ones I want to go, but at least Carl has finally gone...yay!!

glowfrog · 21/03/2018 09:20

@naughtymutha I think Negan can be rehabilitated because he is more deranged than psychopathic (his attachment to Lucille suggests as much to me).

Also, Negan is consistent. He does what he does because in his view of the world, it really is the way to ensure survival. He doesn't come across like the Governor and as far as HE is concerned, he kills when he deems it necessary. He did not want to kill the Scavengers or the Hilltop.

But actually Simon is right - they don't scare. Yet Negan is persisting with the strategy.

Negan believes in an alpha dog view of the world. If Rick beats him and becomes the alpha dog, then he may well get with Carl's programme.

He was seen seriously considering it when Carl gave him that speech. He was almost moved. Whereas Simon is more dangerous because he's taken the wrong lesson from Negan re: power.

metalmum15 · 21/03/2018 09:41

I haven't a bloody clue what's going on this season

Me neither. Every episode seems to throw up more questions than answers. There used to be more action in each episode than there has been in the whole season so far. There's so many characters turning up I have no idea who's on which side, too many dull monologues and arty farty close ups, the timeline constantly jumps about so it's impossible to keep track of what's happening and when. We used to be on the edge of our seats each week, and now we feel like we're just watching it to get it over with.

I'm determined to watch to the end to see what happens, but I'm really bored with this whole story line now. It's disappointing because it used to be such an awesome show and I feel it's slowly losing that.

naughtymutha · 21/03/2018 09:49

@glowfrog - good analysis!

I agree totally that Negan is consistent, but he will never make Rick work for him and although Simon is a psychopath, he is far more brutal and not to be reasoned with. You're right that he is far more dangerous and has no real emotion for other people.

I don't believe Negan would ever consider Carl's programme seriously and the fans probably wouldn't buy it - even if Rick became the alpha dog. Negan would never be trustworthy.

Simon won't have the same influence as Negan - I can't imagine the Saviours chanting "I am Simon" - doesn't have the same ring to it Grin

I really hope next week's episode is not just guns guns guns as this past episode was quite revealing in how the story has turned.

yumyumpoppycat · 21/03/2018 10:58

Negan has a unique moral compass that's for sure, I do agree he's not all bad. Simon is bad but wanted to just cut his losses leave and find new people to intimidate. Negan couldn't do that because he want's to be the saviour, he can't let the thing with Rick go - he wants his way to be the right way. Is it consistency or inflexibility? I think negan thinks he is god, if people all follow Rick instead then that messes with that delusion. Negan would play the game but always looking to take his rightful place as leader back and 'save' people from Rick.

glowfrog · 21/03/2018 11:27

@naughtymutha "I am Simon" Grin or maybe he could make Simon Says his thing...

@yumyumpoppycat Simon doesn't just want to cut his losses, though, does he? He could do that by just leaving but instead he's talking about killing everyone, which seems surplus to requirements.

glowfrog · 21/03/2018 11:30

I am beyond annoyed with Daryl, though. How does he get away with messing everything up with the Saviours?? Rick's plan was working. And yet Rick just says "that's ok, mate." It's like Daryl has forgotten his previous little outburst got Glenn killed.

And what's with his hair?? Where does he get the hair dye??

yumyumpoppycat · 21/03/2018 11:41

That's true - did he tell Dwight they would just head off for pastures new? I am misremembering a bit. Initially he wanted to cut his losses when they were on the back foot and under attack from rick at their HQ, and tried to persuade Negan to do that, but it seems like now he is taking the whole thing personally. It also seems like he wants to take over from Negan and this might be his way to make his mark. I'm not Simon just to be clear - he is defo an unpredictable psycho!

Willow2017 · 21/03/2018 11:51

He did tell Dwight the same as he suggested to Negan but when they got back from looking for Negan he changed the plan to killing everyone at Hilltop.

I wonder how Dwight will deal with this.

yumyumpoppycat · 21/03/2018 11:54

The rick and daryl thing doesn't make much sense to me either - fair enough if Daryls plan had actually worked but it didn't!

Maybe hair dye is all that left at the ransacked pharmacies and he couldn't manage highlights anymore! Funny how there are medical students but no hair dressers left.
