Who’s with me??
So excited!!!!!

Carol didn't want to be part of the group anymore because it was forcing her to care about other people and to need to protect them and fight for them. She was envisaging endless wars. It was all a bit vague to be honest but Carol is complicated! She was also living with an Alexandrian man wearing a twin set and pretending to be nice which clearly she wasn't comfortable with!

yumyumpoppycat · 21/12/2017 00:16

ConcreteUnderpants is polluted water a 'thing' in the walking dead - they have shown toxic pollution in rivers/lakes or whatever quite a few times?

MajesticWhine · 21/12/2017 19:04

I thought the Carol storyline was stupid and not believable. She was always a fighter and it was way out of keeping with her personality. Also when she flounced off because she didn't want to kill anyone, she killed some people on the road on her way. Stupid.
Like quite a few of the recent storylines.

MiddleClassProblem · 21/12/2017 19:10

I thought Carol getting together with the Alexandria bloke was the real weird bit. It was just suddenly there for a couple of eps in the background.

I love Tara Grin

LiveLifeWithPassion · 21/12/2017 21:01

Oh yeah. That was weird. Did it serve a purpose? Was she trying to make herself out to be a simple and ditzy so she could fight well, as no one would be expecting it? I can’t remember.

Middleoftheroad · 21/12/2017 21:12

I don't like it when the two baddest asses Carol and Morgan wrestle with their conscience and become anti-violence for a while. I prefer to see Morgan's stick in a walker frenzy and Carol in full SAS mode taking out multiple enemies.

glowfrog · 21/12/2017 21:22

LiveLife yes, she was just pretending so she could basically spy on them but also be able to take them by surprise if need be.

Morgan wasn't fooled, though - there's a scene when they are prepping the road to direct the herd of quarry walkers away from Alexandria, and he says to her "we're you a cop? You're always watching people."

I think it was meant to show that she can’t go back to who she was pre apocalypse but why she needed a 2 minute partner for that I don’t know

For the speculation regarding Carl being the first one to survive a bite, or perhaps that bite being from a human (e.g. Whisperer), there's been a lot of info on t'internet about Carl's dad being a dick and Gimple not liking him. Apparently only a few months ago Gimple indicated that they wanted the actor who plays Carl to stay on another 3 seasons and so he bought a house in Georgia. The show was going to have to renew his contract as he was about to turn 18 so they fired him instead. He never saw it coming. The father is not liked by locals around Senoia (was Woodbury, nearest town to the studio) for giving invasive tours and a whole load of other stuff, so whether it was that or money or Gimple refusing to follow the comics who knows. Or perhaps because Kirkman has fallen out with the producers too?! The problem is that (from the comic perspective) Carl could be considered the "future" of humanity and the stories told from his POV (hence why Rick is so superhero like in the comics) so where do they go now?

I love TWD but there have been mega plot holes this season which are too awful to ignore; Rick going back to the horrendous Trash people on his own (Again. Why?!) for example. The ridiculous speed at which Negan and co managed to escape and regroup after being overrun (remember after the prison fire the good guys wandered about for episodes!!!). Generally how shit Jesus is. The constant million bullet gun fights that don't kill any one a la A Team.

I really hope it picks up in the second half.

Has anyone watched Ep 9- Honor. Corals farewell.

(Mostly bumping this thread as I love to read all you proper fans reminding me of stuff I forgot!)

cushioncovers · 28/02/2018 15:18

Me me me I watched it.

MichonnesBBF · 02/03/2018 09:24

I still love this programme... I am starting to see the reasoning behind Carl dying...I think Rick will start to distance himself from the killings and try to follow Carl's wishes...

Was interesting finding out the 'flash-forwards' were actually Carl's,
with Negan being a part of the future.

CaptainBrickbeard · 02/03/2018 09:30

I thought Carl’s death was well done - and extremely upsetting. I hate Gimpel though and I think he’s ruining the show. I really feel that killing Carl is a mistake - and I feel terribly sorry for the actor given the manner in which it apparently happened. I think Carl was the heart and the future of the show. I think killing him was yet another cheap ‘shock’ for the mid season finale/premiere which is Gimpel’s favourite thing to do. Short term gain in the sense of a flurry on social media, but long term sacrificing of the whole story and bigger picture. He depends on cliffhangers and tricks to keep people watching but if he could hold together a decent story arc, he wouldn’t need them.

doowapwap · 02/03/2018 10:26

Love TWD!!! I was disappointed they killed Carl off, although I found his hat wearing annoying, it did feel like Carl would be an integral part of the future.

Also the glimpses into the future (when Carl was dying) don't add up as Rick looks 10 years + older but Judith is only 4 years older maybe!

It doesn't feel as exciting as it used to. it's less about the walkers and more about fighting each other. I kind of wish it would go back to surviving.

I read in the news that for the recent episode they got the lowest viewing figures so far

cushioncovers · 02/03/2018 18:22

Yeah I agree captain. Gimple seems really unlikable imo

TellerTuesday4EVA · 03/03/2018 16:25

I've just totally lost my way with TWD. I said to DH on Monday during Carl's death I just felt no emotion at all. I've said it before it really is like I'm just watching out of loyalty to how good it used to be rather than enjoining it iyswim

ArseHair · 04/03/2018 20:22

I'm having lustful thoughts towards Simon.

He needs to be in it more...

AtiaoftheJulii · 04/03/2018 22:52

Agree with TellerTuesday My dd was very sad to lose Carl, but I was wondering how much longer they were going to drag it out for!

Have been very bored by the endless battles, so will be pleased if Carl dying means that might change.

yumyumpoppycat · 04/03/2018 23:54

It's pretty telling how few posts there have been for this episode isn't it? It is just getting a bit boring. Episode was ok but not tv highlight of the week. I just watched talking dead and it did make me feel emotional for coral though.

Apparently Lauren Cohan may not sign her contract? Is money an issue - it seems weird if this is such a big show.

glowfrog · 05/03/2018 12:56

I ugly-cried through all the Carl stuff, and I barely like him. But he was essentially a child and the future and possibly Rick's only child so that's a double-whammy of sad...

Negan lives in the comic. I guess on the show they can at least use Carl's death as the reason for that. But this whole series so far has been decidedly meh. Needs to finish next series, it's really run out of steam.

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/03/2018 14:07

I was surprised that the visions were Corals and that began was there

Why doesn’t someone just shoot him

Sad he died - so where will this take Rick now

yumyumpoppycat · 05/03/2018 16:00

It could work from a tv point of view keeping Negan if he turns goodish but still a bit shadey, could be some mileage in it? He must have had to try to fit in pre apocalypse? Maggie couldn't go along with it though and everyone would feel so vulnerable, he has basically abused loads of people - how could they trust him.

BitOutOfPractice · 05/03/2018 16:03

Oh my goodness that was the most boring episode. I ended up shouting "DIE ALREADY!" at the TV

It also took mumbling to new levels of inaudibility

And in the dream seqyunce, how come Rick had aged 30 years yet Judith was only 4 and everyone else looked the same?

Judith was the best actress in this episode
