I reckon Will will end up as Head of Values

RhiannonOHara · 26/10/2017 16:53

Sinister, yes, I said to my DP after the last episode that in the next series Will would end up as some big executive cheese by mistake. Grin

TeachesOfPeaches · 26/10/2017 20:11

Thank you, I think I must have missed that bit

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 26/10/2017 20:47

According to Wikipedia, this this the third and last series.

To quote News bloke
Bollocks

tribpot · 26/10/2017 21:11

Wikipedia cites this Radio Times article as the source of the info that it is the third and final but actually that's not mentioned in the article at all. I do think it probably is, though - it needs fresh pastures and the number of sleb cameos is getting too high.

Petalflowers · 26/10/2017 23:04

Love this series and hope it's not the last.

Maybe we should have hour specials, when they plan for specific events, similar to 2012, such as william and Katherine's baby or Royal Wedding coverage.

CanIBuffalo · 27/10/2017 06:57

Yes. Exactly. Very strong. Really.

RhiannonOHara · 27/10/2017 09:57

Yes, Wikipedia looks to be talking bollocks about that being the last series. I hope so anyway.

I do love the idea of specials, but I'd want those ON TOP OF a normal series. Grin

YesVeryGoodVeryStrong · 27/10/2017 10:59

The fact is, I read an article where the writer John Morton, lovely John - we LOVE John - said he approached writing it thinking it was the last series, so I think he was thinking "let's nail this puppy to the floor!". Not meaning to be negative or anything.

OP posts:
CanIBuffalo · 27/10/2017 11:19

Well John will know best how he wants to deal with that but if you're asking me, that would be cutting off his own nose...and not in a good way.

BoreOfWhabylon · 27/10/2017 12:23

Yes. Exactly.

The fact of the matter is that John Morton has said he wants to challenge himself. New direction. New horizons.

www.radiotimes.com/news/tv/2017-10-20/w1as-john-morton-on-ending-the-show-and-why-hes-writing-a-romantic-film-next/

He will know how he feels about that of course. But, and I'm just hoisting this up the flagpole to see if it flaps in the breeze, moving forward by going backwards and doing more of what he does best, but better would be a win-win.

BoreOfWhabylon · 27/10/2017 12:25

What I'd really, really like is some sort of mash-up of The Last Kingdom and W1A Grin

YesVeryGoodVeryStrong · 27/10/2017 12:37

Bore Grin Well as we're try to do more of less, but better, that could be a way of doing it, by persuading John to write more (doing more), but only specials, like Rhiannon suggested, (more of less) and making them better than the series (quite hard to do).

But if John, lovely John, really does want to go in a different direction than he should really speak to Matt Tavener. Ideally in Mary Berry.

YesVeryGoodVeryStrong · 27/10/2017 12:39

Also if he's doing a romantic film, I hope it features Anna.

  • Do you want to go out with me?
  • Yes, exactly, yes.
  • Do you like me?
  • The fact of the matter is I do.
  • Do you want to go out for tapas?
  • No, I don't want that. No.

It left me wondering what Hugh Grant thought about being painted as a bit of a mardybum, wanting money (albeit for charity) to make up for being doorstepped by Will. Or do we think any mention on W1A is fine with clebs?

RhiannonOHara · 27/10/2017 12:55

Oh, I can't take credit for suggesting specials! It was Petal; I just agreed.

The80sweregreat · 28/10/2017 12:09

I had to smile at the idea of David Attenborough having Hugh Grant's private mobile number.

kazzaD66 · 11/11/2017 09:01

Just seen on BBC homepage, they've posted a spoof interview between Simon McCoy and W1A's head of news Neil Reid to mark 20 years of the BBC News Channel. Made me chuckle. Huw Edwards hair, Fiona Bruce's eyebrows and "bollards, or a word similar to that beginning with b and ending in s, and I don't mean biophysics" Grin
