The 'kill or be killed' thing didn't work out though because they all did kill and then were killed anyway??

teddy you're right but if I tried to rationalise that could get very complicated!

minesapintofwine totally agree. I liked that it wasn't all explained though - just adds to the tension, drama and eeriness of it.

I enjoyed watching this and loved the scenery but I can't help thinking that if i watched a British version, say set in Aviemore, I'd be complaining about the pile of guff I've just watched.

Dame what was because he was half Sami? The predictions? I know he was experimented on as part of genetic studies but I thought maybe that would be a plot explanation as to why the drawings the boys did depicted what was happening in the present day.
I agree it was more eerie and effective than it would be if it was a British version. I do wonder how much is lost in translation with subtitled programmes though and if that's why there are so many loose ends. I don't think there were so many unanswered questions that it ruined it though. I've just remembered Paula and how awful that was.

Yes the predictions. I remember from another series that Sami can predict/ see into the future.

Ah right, I never realised that. I will look into It, sounds interesting. Thanks!

Apparently very spiritual people. I know very little only what I've seen on other dramas.

there will be another series apparently. It will be a prequel. And now I am watching Eyewitness which starred Odin Waage (Jostein) and is excellent. I think the ending annoyed the critics because they expected a murder mystery but it was a horror really, so of course there was a spooky ending. The producers said that the ending was meant to reflect the idea of brothers hurting each other and that reflected the hurt caused to the Sami people by Sweden and Norway....

But it was Mikel doing the drawing at the end, not Errki (who was Sami)

Where are you watching Eyewitness anonymice?

It is on Walter Presents which is part of All 4 @rumbelina. I meant to watch it some time ago but did not get round to it. I don't know if All Four is a subscription channel - I think it might be. It's really good!!!

finally I caught up with it all.
very gripping. and beautifully shot the contrast between the dark inside and the very bright outside.
creepy in an enjoyable kind of way.

Just finished this. I thought it WAS a bit of a cop-out, although I like the fact that Jostein was revealed to have a red eye at the end. Classic horror ending: when you think it's all resolved and they're safe, only for a last-minute reveal.

so did it turn out that Helgesen and the murder of the family was a complete red herring I can't figure this out either. They spent a lot of time on it if it WAS a red herring.

mines, Why did Frank act as though he had done something wrong? What was his secret? I think he killed Osvald. Don't know why else he'd have been outside. I don't believe he went out for a piss in that weather.

How did Jessan and Osvald die? see above re Osvald, but Jessan: don't know. Was she genuinely mentally ill/disturbed? That was all left a bit messy.

Why did Hanne not save her brother? I think she said words to the effect that he was clinging on to her and if she had let him, she'd ahve drowned herself.

both 'johan' and 'frank' are baddies in the first of the new Beck.
