Is anyone watching this? The second landlord with his disgustingly extravagant lifestyle is making me so angry. The communal areas in his flats are horrific.

Is @fuckyduck a DM journalist or just looking for some attention?

Onhold · 12/07/2017 21:55

I think Fucky is just lonely.

thefutureisfemale · 12/07/2017 21:55

Bless @fucky
Attention starved

colouringinagain · 12/07/2017 21:55

Very depressing viewing. I don't like any of the landlords.and the so -called Christian guy. Well I haven't seen much evidence of Christian values, and he couldn't even stick to the budget.

So many people like these landlords really have No idea why and how many people live Sad

Tho to he fair he's held the rent

FuckyDuck · 12/07/2017 21:56

No I'm not!

Mumsnet is so bizarre to me sometimes I don't get it.

That woman's chosen to go to uni instead of getting a job, why should she have cheap rent!!!???
GET A JOB.

Onhold · 12/07/2017 21:57

Bore off.

dillite · 12/07/2017 21:58

I hope that the Christian guy loses all of his passive income and actually has to get off his fat arse and earn some income where he will have a massive £62 to live off. Fucking arsebadgered twat. Christian my ass.

Starsandwishes · 12/07/2017 21:59

Maybe she's found it hard looking for a job so she studying to give herself a better chance of getting a job

SinisterBumFacedCat · 12/07/2017 22:00

Oh Fucky off Katie Hopkins

Wiifitmama · 12/07/2017 22:00

I found the update at the end of the episode heartbreaking. I know nothing about housing benefit but just assumed it would be sorted out for her. Can someone explain why her claim would have been stopped and then rejected?

thefutureisfemale · 12/07/2017 22:00

Ignore @fucky- crying out for attention and a reaction.

Christian guy is redeeming himself a little.

thefutureisfemale · 12/07/2017 22:02

@wiifitmama I don't have experience of housing benefit but I think maybe they are waiting for confirmation of her circumstances?
I did a quick Google and it turns out students are NOT entitled to housing benefit. Has she been a little dishonest maybe?

Wiifitmama · 12/07/2017 22:03

Oh and to the person who said about not understanding the heating thing...it is not so odd. We lived in a flat once (that we owned!) in a large block where we had no control over our heating. It was controlled centrally and on for 6 months of the year and off for 6 months of the year. Literally it was written in the leasehold that it would come on on a certain day for a full 6 months. The weather was irrelevant!

FuckyDuck · 12/07/2017 22:03

Without getting up in arms, can anyone tell me why you think someone who isn't working and who is physically capable of doing so, is able to live in a nice large house and expect everyone else to pay for it? This is what I don't understand

TupperwareTat · 12/07/2017 22:03

Imagine having to actually COOK your own food, how ewwww Hmm

You would have thought the younger couple might have lived in a mansion from their 20 grand a month better house.

Unihorn · 12/07/2017 22:03

Both tenants on tonight's show had back problems which caused issues with work. Both had previously worked and therefore paid tax and were temporarily relying on the safety net we are lucky to have in this country. Is it that difficult to understand?

A full time minimum wage job pays approximately £1100 after tax. After rent, bills and essentials that would leave her with the same amount of money as the housing benefit but would give her less time to study to better herself.

That's my interpretation at least.

Wiifitmama · 12/07/2017 22:04

Oh I see- I didn't know students were not entitled. She came across as very sure she was entitled to it so I just assumed she was.

dillite · 12/07/2017 22:05

You can get housing benefit as a student if you have dependant children. Perhaps she was a bit dishonest, because her daughters looked too old to be dependant on her.

Thisarmingman · 12/07/2017 22:05

Students used to be able to get hb if they had dependent children but now they can't unless the children are really young. I think.

Anyway, agree that the end was really awful. They're basically homeless. That poor poor family.

Thisarmingman · 12/07/2017 22:07

X post sorry.

Whyiron · 12/07/2017 22:36

Single parent students do get housing benefit plus full council tax exemption. If you are lucky enough to have a social work bursary awarded to you from your second year of study (£4500 approx) on top of your student loans and child related benefits you are expected to use this to pay for your own rent which is only fair in my opinion (this is for an under graduate social work degree but I think similar applies if you are studying a masters). I have just completed my year 2 of social work degree as a single parent.

Unihorn · 12/07/2017 22:38

One of her children were working so presumably over 16. I'm assuming her income may have been taken into account as part of the household income and this may be where the problem is.

qwertyuiop1234 · 12/07/2017 22:44

Single parents do get housing benefit whilst at uni, I've just finished my degree.

Rent should be paid on time every month, he was extremely fair to her to have been owed £1600 and still be saying he'd give her another month before having a word.
I understand if her claim was being reassessed that it may cause some delays but 4 months is a joke. (Although this is from my experience that any issues are resolved within several weeks and not months)

I suspect she was being dishonest in some way, it isn't alright to be 4 months behind on rent.
Like he said it isn't a charity, and people saying he isn't a Christian is a laugh! How much money should he be owed before taking action?

The chances are now she's never going to pay that rent she owed him! Whether he's loaded or not that is wrong

Unihorn · 12/07/2017 22:47

My comment about him not being a Christian was in response to his seminars charging people for his "wisdom" about making money. Even though he later went on to refer to his income as passive, and admitted that he spends very little time doing anything to make his money.

Rhubarbginisnotasin · 12/07/2017 22:51

I laugh at what they think is fancy living. They really are just a bunch of bloody cliches.
