I feel neither sorry for Stephen or Lauren. She's on the brink of having an affair and had a termination behind his back. Why is everyone criticising him and not her?

The80sweregreat · 21/06/2017 10:43

South, true. Both are just as bad as each other! Abi is her father's daughter, the Brannings are a rum bunch. Although Oscar seemed sweet.

iknowimcoming · 21/06/2017 10:44

Holes in the condoms I think southeast? But I agree Lauren isn't any Snow White is she? Shall I go first with the prediction that Abbie will get drunk at her 18th birthday party (how many times can she mention that in one episode - obviously trying to build it up) and blab that Stephen knows about the termination? They really are a very dysfunctional family - unsurprisingly I guess. Although I do quite like evil Abbie, lord knows we need a villain around the place besides Stephen.

I quite liked the scenes last night with Sharon/Louise/Keegan and his mum - was good that Denny got some comeuppance for once, and nice to see Sharon get knocked off her perfect mother perch too

The80sweregreat · 21/06/2017 10:51

Shazza seems blind to Denny's many faults. He isnt a nice kid.
I think that Keegan fancies louise really but cant show any emotion apart from being surly/ horrible / bully etc.
(whenever i write or hear Keegan, i always think Kevin..( old gimmer that i am)

SoupDragon · 21/06/2017 11:05

Keegan admitted to his mother (Karen?) that he liked Louise.

The80sweregreat · 21/06/2017 11:10

Phil would have dished out his own revenge no doubt. Good job for Keegan he is away!

iknowimcoming · 21/06/2017 11:46

Yeah I also wondered about Phil when Shazza called the police for the rape and the assault - Mitchell's don't do police- they sawt fings aaat themselves Hmm

MrsJayy · 21/06/2017 11:59

Stephen makes me tense i canhardly watch him without my skin crawling good episode though. I think Sharon needs knocked off her Denny perch she did give him a talking too but she is soblind to him.

SoupDragon · 21/06/2017 13:07

I think Steven is played really well actually. I feel so sorry for him with the whole Ian thing and the termination of his baby and forget what he is really like. We know that he is "evil" but all the outsiders would think he's nice and normal.

I actually quite like Waynetta too. Despite the brash "stereotypical common" exterior she's said all the right things about Keegan and the non-rape, pointing out that because she was so drunk it made it rape etc. I suspect she might change mind you.

MrsJayy · 21/06/2017 13:14

Karen was really good about it all I think the sterotype will dissapear as we learn more about her. Yes Stephen is evil l but it all boils down to not being a real beale and we never know how he is going to react think that is why he makes me tense condom knife was a step to far.

MrsBotox · 21/06/2017 13:40

This thread seems to be dying a slow death - it used to be top listed after every episode.
Anyone else notice the distinct marks on Sharon'sv snout nose last night? Never seen her in specs or even sunnies. They might be from sun bed goggles?

MrsJayy · 21/06/2017 13:50

Yes i noticed them i paused the telly I think it wasunblended make think it is contouring when the camera panned out you couldn't see them

MrsJayy · 21/06/2017 13:51

Unblended make up*

choccyfiend78 · 21/06/2017 13:54

It was supposed to be bruising from where Keegans mum lamped her one last week Grin

Theycalledmethewildrose · 21/06/2017 14:18

she's said all the right things about Keegan and the non-rape, pointing out that because she was so drunk it made it rape etc.

While I'm glad it was said, it was another public service announcement type thing really.

Wonder if Stacey will get ill again and Carmel will urge Kush to fight for Arthur this time? Bit silly though to think he would be better off with single dad Kush than with his mum, stepdad and half siblings.

Why did Max throw things off the table in temper last night? I thought Jack said something along the lines of 'something good to come out of me losing Mathew is that you shouldn't lose Oscar', unless Max is feeling a bit guilty, I didn't get why he would be in a temper over it?

It is very odd that Josh is sniffing around the square after Lauren in full view of everyone. Steven plays a good part, but I think the writers don't know what way to spin his character instead of it being a case of him being a complex character like the way they conveniently forgot he is gay.

bluedrinkstwo · 21/06/2017 14:25

Steven is bisexual not gay

MrsJayy · 21/06/2017 14:29

Oh it was bruising not the contouring Grin

spiderslight · 21/06/2017 14:37

Yes, I warmed to Waynetta too in the last episode.

Steven getting Lauren pregnant like that is a form of abuse. Also I still can't forget when he took one of them hostage at gunpoint (Is he still receiving treatment, I can't recall if it was mentioned) and tried to kill Pat. Lauren I don't care for either, she should leave Steven if she doesn't much care for him.

youarenotkiddingme · 21/06/2017 16:38

Abi clearly hasn't mentioned her Birthday enough -!its her 21st not 18th WinkGrin

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/06/2017 17:01

true, know stephen is a bit psychopath -well lots Grin but he was upset over ian and over abortion

oscar seems grown up and sad he doesnt see his dad much, even if it was once a month

Right everyone, repeat after me..this is a soap, NOT REAL LIFE. We shouldn't be wasting our time trying to figure out its whos, whys or wherefores. Nothing in RL could produce such a mix of semi-psychopathic, dysfunctional, intellectual pygmies. Nothing!
The plot lines are ridiculous, the characterisation poor, no-one says or does the right or sensible thing in any given situation. The Square is alive with murderers, liars, crooks, villains, adulterers, bitches, bastards and abusers of every type.
They all scramble about in dire situations of their own making as everything in their world gets worse until someone or something explodes. Then it starts all over again.
Can't wait until Thursday's episode Wink.

Theycalledmethewildrose · 21/06/2017 17:18

MrsBotox - what you describe is the old EE. It is now a public broadcast catering for the dumbest of tv viewers who don't have the ability to decipher anything unless it is spelled out to them. These viewers won't notice inconsistencies, any old storyline can be trotted out.

Ah well I guess I will tune in on Thurs too Grin

The80sweregreat · 21/06/2017 17:23

mrsB, you are right! however, trying to figure out why they do as they do etc is all part of the fun of EE ( and this thread!!)
bit of escapism for me to tune in and realise my life isnt as bad as it could be.. lol

MrsBotox · 21/06/2017 17:24

Oh I see wildrose,. I didn't understand that. Guess I must be one of the new target audience Grin. Where have all the discerning, eagle-eyed, sharp-witted viewers gone then?

MrsBotox · 21/06/2017 17:27

80s. Same here - in fact the thread is ten times more entertaining than the show. have a Wine on me and we'll watch together.
