They really should have called Woody Shaggy! Missed a trick there.

iknowimcoming · 20/05/2017 20:11

Justanother - he was unrecognisable on the tv- is uncle fester the silent one? If so that might be bearable? Grin

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 20/05/2017 20:18

I loved the last line of your poem, A new age of wank very profound.

It was getting quite difficult to sort the rhymes out - bloody Betjemanand his abab rhyming schemes! Grin

The80sweregreat · 20/05/2017 20:20

That line made me lol too. It seems very apt with this new producer on board!

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/05/2017 20:27

Ok. My pathetic attempt 😂😂

The carters including mick
Live in the Vic
The roof leaks
But everyone still meets
There and drinks all day
Spending all their pay
Poor tracy got the push
Denise dumped kush
And has no food
Woody gets in the mood
And gets his leg over again in micks bed
And max wants everyone dead

JustAnotherSilentOldNumber · 21/05/2017 05:28

Justanother - he was unrecognisable on the tv- is uncle fester the silent one? If so that might be bearable?

Nope he's the bald one.

JustAnotherSilentOldNumber · 21/05/2017 05:31

If something has Les Dennis in it they shoud at least have the courtesy tgo lower the ticket price.

ChevalierTialys · 21/05/2017 06:42

Place marking!

If Denise was really starving, she wouldn't need convincing to use the food bank. Her attitude is really annoying me.

Cary2012 · 21/05/2017 07:27

In the right hands, the Denise story line could make powerful tv drama, highlighting the plight of so many who suddenly find themselves in Denise's situation. However, it appears with these scriptwriters that they aren't dealing with it as sensitively as they should. We should be feeling sorry for Denise and really rooting for her, instead she's annoying and irritating. How many people, truly starving, would give food away then rummage through a bin? If they are trying to portray a woman whose pride is her downfall, then they need to get us on side before they tackle an issue like this.

Poems are great, what a talented bunch you are x

TheweewitchRoz · 21/05/2017 13:19

Theonly, fab poem!

I have to disagree re the Denise storyline - it is one I'm finding very moving. I went through a situation last year with benefits (thankfully nothing to the extent of Denise & my children were never near starving) but the pride situation really resonated with me.

I don't understand what Max is up to - I can understand revenge on Ian, Jane & Abi but what did Jack or the Carters do to warrant his vengeance?

Akire · 21/05/2017 14:14

Agree about Denise, she's not eaten for ages bar some biscuits, most people would not be able cope with that without feeling awful plus extra walking about. Though why she walked food bank in suit and heels not jeans and top I don't know.

The Woman with kids would surely get more access to crisis loans or extra food vouchers if benefit delays. and in any case manybfood banks only give you 2-3 visits a year and then support to get out of hole. Denise only had one voucher and we know no benefits for 3m still.

She has to be cut off soon for not paying the electric bill she had red one ages ago. She used to be BnB must have least one room spare if not Patrick's then rent it out asap!

southeastdweller · 21/05/2017 15:16

As much as I admire Diane Parish, the Denise story doesn't work for me at all. When you're desperate to the point where you can't afford to feed yourself, you ask a friend or family member for help (if you're fortunate to have them), of which Denise has many. It's so unrealistic and really crap writing for someone like her to be in this situation.

JustAnotherSilentOldNumber · 21/05/2017 15:19

It's not Diane Parish's fault, she's ceretainly trying the best with what she is given.

MrsJayy · 21/05/2017 18:18

I don't believe Denise is that proud it just doesn't fi,t her kindness to the family just came over as irritating. Her friends/family know she isn't working it would be no surprise she would be skint

HateSummer · 21/05/2017 19:23

I agree Cary and everyone, we should be sympathising with her, but the way she's been written is just plain irritating. Even Janine used to evoke a small amount of sympathy when going through hardship and she was a villain!

She could have given the woman a few things from her bag, but no, she gave her the whole lot! Then she wouldn't take money from Cora. Honestly, fuck off if you're that arrogant.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 21/05/2017 19:29

I agree, Denise would have kept something back for herself surely?
And poor Cora having to keep chasing her down the street, God she's hard work.

I was wondering if the mum whose buggy she hung the bags of food on would get stopped leaving the food bank and accused of stealing it without a voucher. Confused

Cary2012 · 21/05/2017 20:06

It's sloppy scriptwriting (again). If we assume it is pride that is holding Denise back from asking family for help, then fine. But surely Kim and others would think "Dee's not working, so how is she managing, we'd better buy her food, give her a loan' or whatever. But they don't and that is why it's so unrealistic. Writers would rather ignore reality and zoom in on her empty cupboards and then create the daft food bank/Cora storyline. Normal families who live in the same small area, who see each other day in and day out would step in and help. Denise has a network of support, irrespective of whether she reaches out, they would see her situation and help.

youarenotkiddingme · 21/05/2017 20:29

I think though with regards to Kim not realising that is in line with her character. She spends Vincent's income quicker than he can earn it and sees luxuries as a right.
I don't particularly like my sister but there's no way I'd turn up at hers or anyone's eating a nice roll from a bakery and not have bought them one too.

JustAnotherSilentOldNumber · 21/05/2017 20:31

Yeah with Kim.... but Kush saw her empty cupboards and still didn't do anything.

OhTinky · 21/05/2017 21:55

How and why is Vincent so minted? Kim burns through his money on unnecessary outfits for herself and their daughter and he really doesn't seem that bothered? Must be selling a shed load of jam jar cocktails at The Albert! 😂
