A miracle happened, I actually laughed out loud watching EE, at something that was intended to be funny, too! But then, it was all in Shirley's delivery, of course, mocking Fi: "yes Mick, can you taste the herbs?!" (Or whatever it was)

Unintentionally funny moment for me was the teenagers' "conversation" at the bus stop. Yeah bruv, you got owned, man! Bar sick, blood! And then something about footwear...

PS: Sharon said 'Chelle had her hair done. Eh? She needs a haircut, pronto, another couple of weeks and she'll have a proper mullet back there!

Shirley's brilliant. One of the best characters in it.

Just catching up with this. EE has been utter dross lately but I still watch it out of habit as I've been watching it most of my life! That new family were cringeworthy.

I might give it a miss tonight. If I want to watch cringeworthy over acting (the new family) I'll go and buy tickets for a pantomime. It reminded me of Coronation Street last night...not good.

I've caught up and I feel like I've watched something from dreary poor 1980's Britain...actually old EE. The new couple make me want to throw something at them, especially the woman with naff clothes that even make Pauline Fowler the queen of cardies look fashionable. And they ran out of Beale's to go and have egg and chips? Wtf were they in there in the first place then? And the old man eyeing up Kathy, who they conveniently remembered and then Carmel conveniently knowing who the new family are! So ridiculous.

I feel so down and out watching it now I can't even make fun out of it. EE shouldn't depress me. Shit programme. I'm going to stop watching it and start some Netflix box sets and Fear the walking dead.

I actually thought the rape storyline was a good one. It's really showing the deep effects of the hierarchical games teens play over SM and the trouble lies cause.

Totally agree about channel 5 documentary - my friend asked if they've employed a journo from the DM as a scriptwriter!

I actually enjoyed last night's ep. I can't be doing with Max's big tedious revenge plot but I like all the character driven stuff, particularly the Martin/Stacey/Kush family, and the development of Steven. The development of Keegan could be interesting as well, although the other kids don't seem to have much potential.

It's good to have a respite from all the Carter angst too - I'm dreading the return of Linda a bit as she's such an unsympathetic character. I've liked the paring down of the Carters, actually - just get rid of spare part Johnny, and I'd be quite happy with just Mick and Shirley running the Vic!

Am liking Fi popping in with her colouring corner - "Tinkerbell"!
