Looking forward to watching this tonight. Feel it might be one to watch with your teenagers..

sorry, 90% of conviction is 90% of convictions. I meant to say 90% of convictions is not necessarily 90% of cases.

In the Leeds Uni report (p247) the Office of the Children's Commissioner expresses concern that stereotyping specific groups as grooming children makes it more likely that those who don't fit the stereotype will not be spotted. Plus (p248) that at the same time as the high profile Rochdale prosecution a similar case occurred in Torbay involving white men, which received very little attention:
media report here

Strangely that's missing from the EDL list, although they do include two Muslim men assaulting local (white) girls at about the same time.

Lillian You are misrepresenting quite a few things I have been saying and you are also misrepresenting whether anyone agrees with me (not saying they have been persuaded by me, but certainly I am not the only poster making some of the points I have).

I'm not going to bother pointing out where you are misrepresenting my views - people can read.

As I said earlier when asked to stop posting, I will decide if and when I post on this and any thread.

I haven't read all the posts on this so am jumping in a bit about the Three Girls issue. My question is this, I read Jayne Senior's account of her work uncovering the Rotherham scandal, it's called Broken and Betrayed. However, it has no index and I can't really recall her mentioning Sara Rowbotham, and when I Google Jayne Senior and S R hardly anything comes up, they might not even be in the same country. Am I missing something here?

Also, when I google J Senior, I get this:

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-south-yorkshire-37254770

which implies the usual anti-whistleblower strategy continues to be alive and well in Rotherham council, even once you've been publicly commended and get an MBE! What gives?

It does seem very odd that with the whole Brexit thing about taking power back from unelected EU bureaucrats, we have local councils and social services basically acting as they please. Everyone seem to know this, yet nothing seems to happen. If you allow nameless, unaccountable public officials power over families and make money a factor, well, that's a toxic combination.

@NewspaperTaxis think you are mixing up Rotherham and Rochdale

alicemalice · 29/05/2017 12:31

Just finished the third episode and read this whole thread. Very sad and stunned.

Someone summed it up perfectly - 'Because penis'.

NewspaperTaxis · 29/05/2017 17:33

Ah, thanks @Jakeyboy1 okay that's right. One is near Manchester and Rotherham is South Yorkshire. Odd though, cos I thought Rotherham was the more famous story. Still, both need to be told.
