Looking forward to watching this tonight. Feel it might be one to watch with your teenagers..

OP posts:

I think this is just the tip of the iceberg.

styledilemma · 16/05/2017 21:43

Harrowing
Those men are disgusting pigs preying on vulnerable young girls.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 16/05/2017 21:45

I love Maxine Peake , she's amazing whatever she's in.

GoatLePew · 16/05/2017 21:45

I'm struggling to watch it.

Garlicansapphire · 16/05/2017 21:46

So sad.

furlinedsheepskinjacket · 16/05/2017 21:47

very sad.they have no one.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 16/05/2017 21:47

Social Services woman fuck Off .

AllFurCoatNoKnockers · 16/05/2017 21:48

Very very hard to watch. Hideous to think these girls went through this and lots of others going/have gone through it too.

The80sweregreat · 16/05/2017 21:50

Awful harrowing. Making me feel sick.
Those poor girls.

Instasista · 16/05/2017 21:51

God. This is harrowing

styledilemma · 16/05/2017 21:51

I dont think I can watch two more episodes of this.

Primadonnagirl · 16/05/2017 21:51

I am struggling with the dramatic narrative though..it's not clear why these girls were in the grip of these bastards and kept going back. I know the reality of it but the way this is filmed is quite clunky...they are unhappy and know their situation is wrong but kept going back long before the threats were made against them ( NB I'm not questioning what happened in real life I'm just saying I don't completely understand how it is being portrayed)

Ineedagoodusername · 16/05/2017 21:56

Primadonnagirl
Threats were made against holly the first time she was raped. Then when she tried to leave threats were made to her family and her little sisters. She's fucking terrified. And no one is listening. That's why she keeps going back.

user1494958001 · 16/05/2017 22:01

That was very sad.

colouringinagain · 16/05/2017 22:02

Awful. Powerful. Well done BBC.

JenniferYellowHat1980 · 16/05/2017 22:03

It was really hard to watch the girl on the child protection register being left behind.

Orlandointhewilderness · 16/05/2017 22:04

Very powerful piece of television. I don't know if I can watch the next two.

Rafflesway · 16/05/2017 22:04

Maxine Peake! Absolutely brilliant performance.

Harrowing watch but this story NEEDS to be told.

WayfaringStranger · 16/05/2017 22:05

Harrowing and horrific. I'm not sure if I can watch any more.
I have to agree with PrimaDonna that, in parts, I didn't see the grooming elements and threats being portrayed, although there were undertones.

I'm horrified that this happened, it's just unspeakable really. Services failed these girls.

woodhill · 16/05/2017 22:05

Very disturbing

PovertyJetset · 16/05/2017 22:05

I think the reasons as to why they went. Can are murky because, it was murky and complicated and they were children who couldn't see what we can see. They didn't know how to handle it.

It's a powerful watch and had made me sick to my stomach.

Dulra · 16/05/2017 22:05

Harrowing to watch. I really cannot understand how inept social services were. I work in this area and I just can't understand how these girls were desperately let down by social services and the police. Absolute disgrace Angry

Dulra · 16/05/2017 22:06
  • work in child protection area not Rochdale area in case that was confusing
WayfaringStranger · 16/05/2017 22:08

Dulra I work in social services too and sadly, because services are still being cut and because we still don't hear those who we really need to hear and because we still make pre-conceived judgments about girls, I can understand how this happened.

YesMilk · 16/05/2017 22:09

I think the 'why would you go back' question was explained and portrayed brilliantly. Confused, terrified and vulnerable.

Those poor girls Sad
