Nooo! Don't pollute MN even more with links to that hateful rag. They lift threads all the time, and then someone puts the link on creating clicks and revenue for them.

Funnyfarmer · 17/07/2017 21:59

Send it me in my personal messages then if you can? Didn't realise it wasn't allowed

OP posts:
paxillin · 17/07/2017 22:03

It is allowed

paxillin · 17/07/2017 22:06

Daily Wail clickbait on MN is just irritating, they have lifted (and therefore destroyed) so many personal and heartfelt threads. And people are outraged about it and post the link and then everybody reads it, which is of course exactly what DM need.

My partner and I quite often joke about the trope (or is it "meme"?) of women being bad drivers; even though he does readily acknowledge that I'm much safer than he is (and I even beat him on a race track).

Anyway, on that theme, I came across this photo and found it quite amusing:-

I'm not sure about changing something just for the sake of political correctness however I will still watch the new series of Doctor Who and I hope people give Jodie Whittacker a chance and she does a good job.

Snapespeare · 19/07/2017 20:44

I find that photo nauseating in relation to a female doctor. Tennant crashes tardis into the titanic. Smith crash lands the tardis in Amelia ponds garden. All doctors have always been shit drivers regardless of genitalia, yet all of a sudden it's terribly amusing that it's a woman doctor and OH LOOK she can't park.

At least she doesn't fly the tardis with the brakes on.

Snapespeare · 19/07/2017 20:47

Oh and I'm prob just a bit cross about this because I pulled someone up on it and was told 'calm down, it's just a joke'

Yes. Too fucking right it's a joke. It's sexist bullshit, which always provides me with belly laughs.

KnockMeDown · 20/07/2017 21:35

I'm still watching the first series on Netflix. I think I'm going to name change to HarrietJonesMPFlydaleNorth.

Funnyfarmer · 20/07/2017 21:48

I'm going to name change to HarrietJonesMPFlydaleNorth
You do realise if you do will have to announce that's your name before you write any post.
Is the 1st serise the only one you've watched so far?
If so you've still got so much to look forward too.

FunnyFarmer I am rewatching. I have avidly watched every single episode of the new Dr Who, but it's a long time till Christmas, so thought I would go again from the beginning. It's great so far!

flownthecoopkiwi · 21/07/2017 16:46

I'm rewatching/watching with DD who is 8. I wasn't really a fan years ago so only watched a few, but currently on series 2 and forming unhealthy addiction to David Tennant.

Sad news tonight of a past companion... Sad

I haven't read the whole thread, but my 2-cents are...

The Doctors two defining values for me personally are intelligence and empathy. If anyone thinks a woman isn't capable of this, they've had a very terrible childhood.

RustyBear · 22/07/2017 12:32

“Never cruel or cowardly. Never give up, never give in.”

KnockMeDown · 22/07/2017 23:31

Just watching Empty Child & Doctor Dances. Absolutely fantastic episodes!

Are you my Mummy?

KnockMeDown · 23/07/2017 00:48

So this may be a result of too much wine, but I have been thinking of what Christopher Eccleston would have been like as the Doctor, as a woman. And I think the episodes would have been a lot shorter!

She would have figured it out much quicker!

QuiQuaiQuod · 23/07/2017 12:43

Rusty I saw that on the BBC red button entertainment news thing. Didnt notice it said in the main news thoughm they foccused more on John Heard.

was she mentioned at all? was watching tomb of the cybermen recently.

RIP Deborah.

Im still wondering why they couldnt just have brought back the Rani and Romana- they wouldnt dare change THEM to men though would they?

same with Missy. she should have been the Rani.

and read that Georgia Moffet (doctors wife/daughter Grin) is doing a set of audio adventures as Jenny.

why cant they do that on tv, maybe on CBBC to fill the much missed gap of the Sarah Jane adventures? CBBC is getting crapper by the day.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 23/07/2017 21:47

Has anyone on here been to the Doctor Who experience amd has tips to share? For example, wpuld you do the walk first, then the experience or other way round?

Cheguevarahamster · 23/07/2017 22:18

Drink feck. You go through the "experience" first anyway. It's an actor led show which is good fun. Then you go through to the exhibition. When are you going? We hope to go again in a couple of weeks.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 23/07/2017 22:27

Hi cheguevara thanks! I meant the locations walk though? It's to be booked separately - 75mins. I think that's dofferent to the experience/ exhibition thing.

I'm wrecking my brain atm - i think it'll be he weekend of 12/13 Aug. Not sure if we ahould stay for a night or two or do a day round trip! We're coming from london.

iklboo · 23/07/2017 23:24

We went to both London & Cardiff. DS was about 5 when we went to London & dressed like David Tennant. The crew were brilliant saying things like 'we need you Little Doctor, only Little Doctor can save us now'. Made his day (as well as all the American tourists taking his photo) Grin

ChoccyJules · 23/07/2017 23:28

There's an Ad for the Christmas Episode, just out tonight. I won't spoilerise but one thing made me very happy.

RustyBear · 23/07/2017 23:29

We did the locations tour in 2011, but it was longer than 75 minutes - it covered locations around the city centre first, then a coach trip to St Fagans, which has a lot of the locations in Human Nature/Family of Blood and it ended up at Ronald Dahl Plass, near the exhibition. So if the shorter tour ends up there, it would probably make sense to do the exhibition after the tour. We actually didn't do the exhibition then, as it hadn't opened yet, we came back the next year.
If the tour you're doing doesn't go to St Fagans, it's well worth a visit, and not just for the Doctor Who locations - we went back again the next day to see the rest of the place.

Funnyfarmer · 24/07/2017 10:56

Just saw the trailer for the Christmas special. Looks fab.
Looks like gatiss is to star in another one of his stories. I don't what it is about gatiss but he really irritates me.
His writing is fab.
Is acting is spot on
But he just really annoyes me.
Anyone eles?
