I don't think they will go female doctor this time. It's all hype. I think they might go Asian or Black male. I was hoping for Sacha Dhawan but I think he has spoken about how much hed like to do it, which rules him out. I think they will go youngish though. I don't think Kris Marshall has the range. He's just done sitcoms where he hasn't really had to push himself. I think they should go with an unknown.

Funnyfarmer · 15/04/2017 10:28

Kris Marshall played a very serious cop in something. I can't remember it's name. It was set in some exotic place. But even before I saw him in that I always thought he had potential to play a more serious role.

I'm so excited! We watched the Christmas episode again last night in preparation.

Funnyfarmer · 15/04/2017 10:43

I know I sound like a kriss Marshall super fan. I've only ever really watched him in my family so not really followed his work. Just always thought he would be good

As for Oliver Coleman. Think she's great. But I'm getting a little tired of how they keep having to explain how the doctor/companion has the same face as someone that they've met before

I'm with Alice. I had absolutely no idea what was going on from about when David Tenant turned into some weird baby, then RORY was a frozen soldier than Matt smith was stuck in a tower for zillions of years on Gallifre. No idea what any of it was about at all. I feel cheated!

coldcanary · 15/04/2017 11:33

Kris Marshall was in a drama series called Murder City a few years ago. It wasn't brilliant but it wasn't really given much of a chance to develop. He was ok in it though, he played a slightly odd detective.

LouiseBrooks · 15/04/2017 11:46

I absolutely hated Donna, total pita, I cheered when I heard she was going. Mind you I'm not a fan of Catherine Tate.

DalekBred · 15/04/2017 19:31

ALL this fuss about a female doctor What about then if Rani or Romana came back as men? any fuss there?
and they've already got Missy, why should they change the doctors gender too? its turning into Loose women!

As for the new series, muchas I love Peter Capaldi, Im not watching it till the Mondasian cybermen one.

Why? cos the programme makers have sol;d their souls. trying to vie with other sci fi shows and have to tick very box for the pc brigade (that's politically correct, not Peter CapaldiGrin). (now another gay person, notmthat theres anything wrong with gay, just the media are making such a big thing about it. Captian Jack was multi sexual, as others have been.)too much focus on the companion since the series came back with 9, and its supposed to be about a 'madman in a box'.

I got into ''classic'' Who a while back, that's doctors one to , and including seven, and they are the best for me. and the original UNIT were the best, Stewart, Yates and Benton especially.

we attached 3 classic stories today, The Aztecs with the wonderful William Hartnell, The Moonbase with the fab Patrick Troughton and Spearhead from Space with our fave, Jon Pertwee. Now THATS Doctor WHo

hate it since they changed the MASTER to a wom,an. Michelle Gomez is brilliant, but as another character for me. Tardis Tardis.

I quite liked Clara till it was the Clara show.

Dillite2 · 15/04/2017 19:37

I can't with the godawful fashion on everyone.

DalekBred · 15/04/2017 19:40

attatched? Watched three classic, I mean!

Chris Eccleston wasn't too bad though, got into DW cos of him.

And Mark Gattiss episodes aren't TOO bad, he's a Whovian who appreciates the clssics so usually brings in something from there.

BringOnTheScience · 15/04/2017 20:13

Bl**dy excellent episode. 😀

Now water is scary too, along with shadows, blinking,...

TheHiphopopotamus · 15/04/2017 20:27

That was really good!

Just had to come on to say I think Bill is ace. That is all.

LouiseBrooks · 15/04/2017 20:31

Really enjoyed it. Bill is better than I thought she'd be.

coldcanary · 15/04/2017 20:33

I enjoyed that. A bit thin plot wise, it was just a set up to get Bill into the TARDIS but it was a good one.
The coming soon bit made my evening!

UrsulaPandress · 15/04/2017 20:52

We loved it. Tardis

Riversleep · 15/04/2017 21:21

Yes! A proper Moffat scary monster! We really liked it. I like Bill so far. Looking forward to this series now. Havent said that for a few years...

Riversleep · 15/04/2017 21:22

Oh yes Tardis

Funnyfarmer · 15/04/2017 21:35

Only just watched it.
I loved it! Loved bill.
Capaldi was amazing as always. Nardole? Is that his name?
Seems like a bit of a spare part.
Really looking forward to the rest of the season. Loved how they had bills sexuality from the start without some big grand announcement like it was something "Oh so different" and forcible PC for me is was no different to when they introduced previous companions had a male dp's
So a big thumbs up from me 👍👍

Bill was excellent.

Funnyfarmer · 15/04/2017 21:36

Did anyone eles think of 'waters of mars?'

OP posts:
EsmesBees · 15/04/2017 21:45

I loved it too. Bill has a lot of potential. Intrigued to know what's in the vault.

Dillite2 · 15/04/2017 21:47

I allowed my 7year old dd watch it with mr. Now she's scared to sleep [sigh]. I thought it was an ok episode as far as first episodes go, but then I'm not a huge Dr Who fan. I did like Clara, so will be missing her.

QueenieGoldstein · 15/04/2017 21:49

It was a bit waters of Mars but I LOVED it! Bill has real potential and much better writing for PC this time round. I just hope it continues for the whole series.

AliceKlar · 15/04/2017 21:53

I LOVED it. Had low expectations after being totally baffled by last few series but this I could follow and I enjoyed it. Loved Bill. If it carries on like this, with good old exciting plots that are understandable, I'll be happy. It had funny bits, scary, exciting bits. Perfect old school Dr Who.
