I'm really looking forward to the new series tomorrow! Just watched the last two of the first series - I'll be interested to see how it pans out, as I'm not too sure how it will work 'outside' of the car....! It's one of the few comedy shows that makes me laugh, and it's got a lovely 'gentle' feel to it (or maybe I'm just getting a bit old and soppy....)

Anyone else?

I fancy him a little bit in Car Share but nothing else. It's the sweet little smile.

bebox · 29/04/2017 00:03

Thank goodness it's not just me Maroon. I've heard he's not too lovely irl, but he's very entertaining in a car.

EnidButton · 29/04/2017 00:06

You both fancy John not Peter. I get it with Benedict Cucumberpatch as Sherlock. Don't find him attractive at all in rl or as anyone else but fancy Sherlock.

FairytalesAreBullshit · 29/04/2017 03:10

Aww the sniffing Crocoldile Dundee is sweet.

I'll be glad when people are caught up with it so we can talk. But as likeable as John is. You can understand Kayleigh's view point.

Is PK not that nice in real life?

EnidButton · 02/05/2017 15:52

Peter Kay has said there won't be a Christmas Special or another series! ShockShockSad

Genuinely gutted. How can they leave it like that??

EnidButton · 02/05/2017 15:53

If that's it, then that's the worst ending to any tv series ever and I'm including The Sopranos and Lost in that.

GrimDamnFanjo · 02/05/2017 17:47

I thought the car walking was from "falling down" when Michael Douglas decides he can't take anymore...

I thought the final scenes were some of the best writing on TV. It was so true to life. I was glad that Kayleigh finally tried to push John along.

bebox · 02/05/2017 18:12

I've gone right off PK, fancy leaving things like that.

Miserable sod.

EnidButton · 02/05/2017 18:52

Really annoying.

littlemissneela · 02/05/2017 22:35

Noooooooo! Sad

Halsall · 02/05/2017 22:38

Just watched it. I don't know when they scripted it, but the final scene's resemblance to the opening of 'La La Land' amused me hugely. If 'La La Land had been filmed in a traffic-jam on the outskirts of Manchester, that is.

Disappointing that we didn't get the ending most people surely wanted, but I can see why Peter Kay might have chosen to end it like that. It all got a bit too serious suddenly...

littlemissneela · 02/05/2017 22:39

Also, when they were at some traffic lights, did the sign say Frying Nemo?

EnidButton · 02/05/2017 22:42

Yes, it's an actual proper chip shop apparently. Grin

littlemissneela · 02/05/2017 22:48

Is it really?! I thought it might have been one of their funny signs, like the Shaun Ryder rehab one.

dailydance · 02/05/2017 22:55

Sadthis made me teary tonight (I may also be hormonal)

GrimDamnFanjo · 02/05/2017 23:37

In some way I prefer this ending to everything neatly tied up and riding off into the sunset. John just couldn't handle talking about his feelings and was too scared to talk to Kayleigh.
I reckon a pie and a good nights sleep and they'll be together...

SparklyFairyDust · 03/05/2017 06:45

Apparently no more episodes, no Xmas special, feel gutted. They could make a series on them getting together. I know with Phoenix Nights, Max & Paddy, all 2 series then stopped.

I get that you don't want to wear it out. But it really cheered me up.

EnidButton · 03/05/2017 08:43

It needed a happy ending. Honestly I think the ending to series 1 was better. Maybe they should've left it there. It's not the type of programme that suits a realistic end I don't think.

EnidButton · 03/05/2017 08:44

Grim I think you're right. I also thought that Forever FM would be playing in the taxi so maybe she heard the dedication.

Grin
yumyumpoppycat · 03/05/2017 10:42

Dp told me phoenix nights is coming back (not sure where he heard that) so still hope for a special another year I reckon.

The80sweregreat · 03/05/2017 11:34

Trouble with a christmas special might be that it ends up a bit the same as the Office christmas one when Dawn and the other guy ( name escapes me) finally got together and she ditched horrible Lee.

It would also have to happen outside of the car too i guess! ( ways round that maybe)

StarHeartDiamond · 03/05/2017 16:25

It's mean to leave it like that! Angry

Feel cheated if there really won't be any proper conclusion to it. And no, Kayleigh storming off is not a proper conclusion. We've all done that whilst really wanting our beloved to come storming across a load of paths cars to declare their love Smile doesn't mean it's the end of things!

Would have been great if as a pp said, Kayleigh had heard the radio dedication in the taxi. Reckon they missed a trick with that one!

StarHeartDiamond · 03/05/2017 16:25

*parked

Upset me, reminds of something similar in my life.
The moral of the story is, grab happiness whenever you get the chance because these opportunities don't come along very often. You get no where fast being scared.
