I'm really looking forward to the new series tomorrow! Just watched the last two of the first series - I'll be interested to see how it pans out, as I'm not too sure how it will work 'outside' of the car....! It's one of the few comedy shows that makes me laugh, and it's got a lovely 'gentle' feel to it (or maybe I'm just getting a bit old and soppy....)

Anyone else?

Neanderthal man, she couldn't mention her period without him winching.
He couldn't discuss his feelings when she declared hers? He knew, but loved the attention with no commitment.
He got road rage with random cyclists.
I hope she gets together with trolley man instead. Grin

Yes it was a sad ending for a sweet comedy.

SparklyFairyDust · 04/05/2017 02:04

I agree I hope the taxi driver heard the radio.

TeaMeBasil · 06/05/2017 16:20

Just watched the last episode - how could it end like that?!? So sad! I need more John!

The80sweregreat · 06/05/2017 17:16

Owen, yes, trolley man might be a better match! At least he always seemed pleased to see her about and was gorgeous to boot.

caprifun · 06/05/2017 23:44

Just caught up on episode 4 ... Sad if it's left like that. Wasn't the walking across car tops an REM video? Off to google now.

caprifun · 06/05/2017 23:51

The REM walking on cars video was Everybody Hurts; apt, maybe?

youngestisapsycho · 07/05/2017 00:01

Of course there will be a Xmas special... he's not going to tell us that though is he?!

EnidButton · 07/05/2017 00:03

Why wouldn't he though?

Tableforjuan · 07/05/2017 21:59

There are some brilliant theories online about bits that were seen being filmed but didnt feature, which points to there being more to come :

However it does seem unlikely based on what Kay has said.

StarHeartDiamond · 07/05/2017 22:39

I think it's probably better to say "no more" and then change it if enough quality material comes up to make a fantastic episode out of, than to say there will be more and gave the pressure of expectation pressing on the creative juices which can be stifling. Then it could be worked on in private and to its own schedule instead of people eagerly awaiting its screening.

That's what I'm hoping, anyway!

Anyone seen the latest episode and willing to share spoilers?

FellOutOfBed2wice · 07/04/2018 22:28

Gah no I don’t want to know covers ears

Dozer · 07/04/2018 22:29

The thread helpfully has a spoiler alert already.....

GrimDamnFanjo · 08/04/2018 10:59

I must be one of the few who actually thought last years ending was really good...

FellOutOfBed2wice · 08/04/2018 11:53

Grim I’ve never cried as hard at TV/film as I did at this ending last year (although the recent run of Mum Has given it a run for its money). The use of Marillion’s Kayleigh took me down and I now can’t hear that without getting a tear in my eye.

I’m only interested in an ending now if it’s happy. I can’t get on board with an ending where they aren’t together, I’d rather they had just left it.

MrsJackHackett · 13/04/2018 03:03

Actually I probably said this last year, but it made me cry. Ex was about, he said this isn't real you know. I so wanted to believe it ended like that.

I've now got Kayleigh in my head.

I really hope there's a few more, I know Peter is off till 2020 is it? But I'm guessing the odd Christmas special won't hurt.

I think the thing is, if you take the Royle Family, they had some cracking specials, then others like Denise doing the Christmas Dinner, God Rest her Soul, wasn't so much of a fan. But in another light, Craig Cash although he co-scripted with Caroline, if they came together, so Sue, Ricky, etc. They could make an amazing tribute, I think it would break our hearts more than the Queen of Sheeba episode. Going off the track a bit there. But maybe to see their children and possibly grandchildren grown up. I'd say Sheridan Smith as a daughter maybe but she's already been Ralf's GF in it.

But back to the point I was making, you don't want to water it down too much. Going off on a different tangent you had Max & Paddy from Phoenix Nights. So maybe (please, please, please) he's channeling some creative energy on this break into Car Share. As he's never really done family life, I expect being from Bolton, being Catholic, he could make it into something else.

I know he starred in that 70's throwback show where he was the Dad. (Was there ever a series 2?) I don't think he wrote that though.

Peter's observational comedy focuses a lot on the past, so his take on now could be great. In the digital age. Where parenting is on another level.
