I'm really looking forward to the new series tomorrow! Just watched the last two of the first series - I'll be interested to see how it pans out, as I'm not too sure how it will work 'outside' of the car....! It's one of the few comedy shows that makes me laugh, and it's got a lovely 'gentle' feel to it (or maybe I'm just getting a bit old and soppy....)

Anyone else?

I know! I was racking my brains and ended up going on IMDb. Literally 😱

The80sweregreat · 15/04/2017 09:01

couple of annoying things - the back window of his car is really dirty, the way the radio presenter cut off ' red light spells danger' the fact its always bright sunshine first thing in the morning till they come home. Being as Kayleigh is promotions surely she would work shifts? not sure which hours managers work, but in retail i think he would be doing different covers too and they wouldnt work the same days either! still, it is fab and i watched the last episode again yesterday - i do think i am becoming a bit obsessed. There is a car share play list on spotify , i may have played a few songs from that too. It cannot end that way..

Tableforjuan · 15/04/2017 10:59

I read that the car window is dirty to hide the filming tow truck. And Sian Gibson said that they were really lucky to get sunny weather the whole time they were filming so reckon the rain is staged.

As for Red Light Spells Danger- surely the cut off was a plot device to highlight that brief euphoria when they were singing and holding hands...

NotJanine · 15/04/2017 11:53

I'm saving the last episode.

I agree with the comments that episode 2 wasn't as good, but 3 was hilarious, the monkey in the car is still making me laugh when I think about it.

I watched the first series in some pain as I was recovering from a small operation and was crying with laughter (the letter posting scene was my favourite). Now watching this one suffering from anxiety and stress and it feels so good to be able to smile. Should have them on prescription.

NotJanine · 15/04/2017 14:49

ok, I didn't last long. I've now watched the last episode.

Made me cry. Not with laughter.

Damn you Peter Kay

Jaynebxl · 15/04/2017 16:05

Welcome to the club NotJanine!

sweetkitty · 15/04/2017 19:09

DH and I ended up digging out our Phoenix Nights DVDs couldn't believe Sian Gibson is in it too and looks so young.

Raahh · 15/04/2017 20:17

If anyone watches Hollyoaks- Sian is Harry's mum. Grin

NormaSmuff · 15/04/2017 21:08

loved it, just watched final 3 episodes.

BikeRunSki · 15/04/2017 21:33

He's a manager, maybe he's fixing her shifts The80sWereGreat?

The80sweregreat · 15/04/2017 21:37

Ha! Maybe. Or promotions do regular hours!

GinSwigmore · 15/04/2017 22:14

Watched ep 3 again today. "Trying to get it to sleep" makes me howl. Very good episode including George Michael monkey song in end credits.Easter Smile Yay, the bunny ears are back!

cowgirlsareforever · 15/04/2017 22:19

I've watched all 4 episodes and thought this series was great. I love seeing stories about ordinary people falling in love.

EnidButton · 16/04/2017 01:30

The ending pissed me off. Woke up the next day still annoyed about it. AngryGrin

They'd better be secretly making a Christmas special or I'll never forgive them.

Not quite as good as the first series but still better than most comedies out there and I love John and Kayleigh. ❤️ Never wanted two fictional characters to get together so much.

echt · 16/04/2017 08:33

Just watched ep 4.

The Christmas special had better sort this out. It worked for "The Office"

Tableforjuan · 16/04/2017 09:23

An Office-style Christmas conclusion would be perfect and avoid the pitfalls of ruining itself with too many series.

Although I am fantasising about a series where they are newly together - choosing takeaways, awkward sex chat, going out on a date, first argument etc.

EnidButton · 16/04/2017 18:16

They had their first argument last series, when Kayleigh filled the car with diesel and it broke down. Grin

I cried when the Office Christmas episode first aired. Blush Mind you I teared up at the end of series one of carshare too. Ol' romantic.

GolyHuacamole · 16/04/2017 22:56

Just watched episode 4, it can't end like that!!! Noooooo

Bloody hell John get a bloody grip arghhhhh. There'd better be another episode to end things as they should & we all know how it should end...

GinSwigmore · 17/04/2017 01:47

It was a great dream sequence though, especially the slide off the bonnet then reaching out for her hand.
The scrambling over the cars reminded me of Croc Dundee crowd surfing/scrambling in the tube.

EnidButton · 17/04/2017 15:11

Correcting myself, it was petrol Kayleigh used in a diesel car. I'd get it wrong too. Blush

Davros · 17/04/2017 23:37

Watched up to ep 3. Couldn't understand a word Elsie said! I didn't want them to get together, too predictable. Maybe I'll change my mind by the end of ep 4?

GinSwigmore · 17/04/2017 23:44

^ thank God, thought it was just me struggling with Elsie. DH takes the piss because I am so crap with accents. I had subtitles on for Elsie (and the closed captions struggled an' all) Wink I once met a cockney in Majorca (lovely fella like Big Ron/Minty off EE) and like the Crown I said "I'm sorry, I don't understand what you're saying" BlushGrin
(I don't speak RP but DH does his best queen impression when impersonating me saying the above.

Redglitter · 18/04/2017 00:48

Just watched ep 4

THEY HAVE TO BE FUCKING JOKING

There has to be a Christmas special - please

The80sweregreat · 18/04/2017 08:06

The Elsie episode ( which is on bbc tonight) is hard going as i didnt understand a word they said either.

anyway, the best bits of that episode was forever fm being on at night time and when Elsie finally got out of the sodding car! ( if i watch tonight i will put on the subtitles)
