I loved the first season, so really looking forward to this, especially seeing Uhtred again -v swashbuckling. I never watched GoT so I have nothing to compare it to. (GoT fans seem not to like this so much.) I do like it's historical basis.

I was watching Versailles the other day. Everyone and everything are so bloody prissy! Was the French court really that camp and flamboyant? Compare to the rough and ready Danes, I just wanted to slap everyone into some testosterone.

I only lasted 5 mins! Where was the dirt under the fingernails, the braids, the fur and leather?

I actually love that period of French history but it really pisses me off that they plug Versailles endlessly and seem happy to "lose" TLK in the schedules.

I'm re watching the last 2 episodes just to see Erik. I love that moment when she's asking for a bath and Erik lets his guard down, and he sneaks a peak at her in the river.

Rewatched that episode today as well

I loved the change to his expression when he was watching her bathe and then when he turned back to Haesten and had to act tough. Again, when he prevents Haesten from raping her and shouts "She is precious" Ooooh ❤️

Lastly, on their moonlight outing, his face is soft and he looks as nervous as any guy on a first date.

Also, Uhtred's realisation of Erik's feelings during that episode was really well done. Very subtle, but his slight changes of expression were all that was needed to let us, the audience, know what he had realised about Erik.

Can you tell I love the show?!

Ive only just discovered The Last Kingdom! have binged on S1 over the past three nights (staying waaaay up past midnight). Just gone onto Iplayer to watch S2 but the first 4 episodes are missing.
Can I not watch them anywhere????

Not sure where you'll find them, apart from buying S2 on DVD - it's worth it though!

The grime isn't historically accurate. Historians believe that the Vikings had much better hygiene than the AngloSaxons...despite our modern assumptions.

To all those of you who've read the books - I've just finished Sword Song and I'm not sure whether to continue into further books, thereby "spoiling" myself for future plots. Or stop now and read other things?

Was even more impressed by the writing on the TV show. They fleshed out the Aethelrik story so wonderfully. It's only covered very briefly in the books, obviously only from Uhtred's POV and what he sees in Erik's reactions and how Aethelflaed looks. It's done so wonderfully in the show. SHE. IS. PRECIOUS
