Methadone Mick! I thought he looked familiar. Great start, I'm a tad confused too thoughGrin

wowfudge · 26/03/2017 23:06

He had a rucksack of evidence in his flat. He took the balaclava out of that, didn't he?

Misovexed · 26/03/2017 23:07

So Tim has to despatch her or keep her captive . . .

Misovexed · 26/03/2017 23:08

Balaclava not in evidence bag, therefore not evidence but personal (dodgy) use.

Misovexed · 26/03/2017 23:11

Wearing balaclava to make plod think he was balaclava man (assuming he isn't) wouldn't work if he was driving his own car.
Unless he took the bus to home base.

But I can't see balaclava man using public transport. He's more milk-tray than tfl.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 26/03/2017 23:16

Yes there were a few items in plastic bags in the rucksack. Very odd.

If he does allow her to live how the hell is he gonna explain the fact he was about to cut her to pieces!
Lest we forget, season three killed off the main new character in episode two so there is form for killing off big names early on, I don't know Thandie is free to shoot another show alongside Westworld.

TheHiphopopotamus · 26/03/2017 23:44

Series 2 also killed off what looked like a major new character in the first ep as well. It's just a bit predictable. I hope she survives but how can she?

Can someone just remind me why he went to the cafe to see one of the victims? What did he need her DNA/fingerprint for?

Isitjustmeorisiteveryoneelse · 27/03/2017 00:32

Don't drive/walk around wearing a balaclava. When was the last time you saw someone innocently wearing one? That'd be '77, Nigel from primary school.
Anyway, Tim had balaclava because he IS balaclava man but balaclava man ISNT the murderer/abductor IYSWIM. Tims faked him all along to discredit Huntley as they clearly hated each other from the beginning

Ciaovenora · 27/03/2017 05:10

If anyone wants to know who dies at the flat watch the trailer for this years series! You're welcome.

I think balaclava man is Thandie Newton's character's husband!

stonecircle · 27/03/2017 06:39

I think balaclava man is Thandie Newton's character's husband

I thought there was a hint at that when he came home and took his briefcase out of the boot. The camera seemed to linger on the boot ....

When Steve interviewed the woman Farmer was accused of raping, there was a clear suggestion that she might have been lying. She said something like,'he said he did it so what's the problem?' Steve looked suspicious, but when Ted asked him how the interview had gone he just said fine and mentioned nothing else. Seemed a bit odd to me.

wowfudge · 27/03/2017 07:57

Statutory rape but consensual given their respective ages? Farmer isn't the murderer.

ButtonMooooon · 27/03/2017 08:06

When he buzzed her in that room was full of photos and descriptions of victims on the wall as well and then he went back and pulled the door to behind him

Dulra · 27/03/2017 08:49

New to line of duty so missing some of the nuances but really enjoyed that episode It was like silent witness on speed.

Just wondering who people think was in the car that pulled up outside forensic guys flat after Thandie went in. Could it be her husband following her to give her the phone she left behind? Not sure how he'd know she was there though? Hard to know what will happen now between Thandie and forensics guy, will he try to really kill her now? or try and cover for what he was about to do.

Really don't think Farmer is balaclava guy

Ancienchateau · 27/03/2017 09:05

I can't get past the fact that TN's boss, ACC Hilton, is Jamie from The Thick of It. I kept expecting him to let rip a torrent of abuse in a broad Lanarkshire accent.

MrsHughesCarson · 27/03/2017 09:17

I thought it was excellent. The only niggle I have is that I thought it was a bit too convenient for TN to forget her phone meaning she can't be traced to Tim's flat.

Megatherium · 27/03/2017 09:23

TN character's husband has to be involved, if only on the well-known premise that they wouldn't cast someone like Lee Ingleby for him to be insignificant.

hackmum · 27/03/2017 09:47

StoneCircle: "When Steve interviewed the woman Farmer was accused of raping, there was a clear suggestion that she might have been lying. She said something like,'he said he did it so what's the problem?' Steve looked suspicious, but when Ted asked him how the interview had gone he just said fine and mentioned nothing else. Seemed a bit odd to me."

I thought that was strange too. What's Steve up to? It seems fairly obvious that Farmer isn't the killer.

Much as I adore Line of Duty, I thought the ending was ridiculous. Wouldn't he have checked Thandie was dead first before coming at her with a chainsaw? The trailer for next week has characters mentioning that she hasn't turned up for work, but I think they're teasing us - I don't think he'll kill her. It also shows them finding another body, but I imagine this is going to be the woman who went missing and whose body hadn't previously been found.

Belindabelle · 27/03/2017 09:47

I think it is the husband too. I also think that TN suspects which is why she was so keen to ignore the evidence.

ElspethFlashman · 27/03/2017 10:06

She definitely left her phone behind on purpose. She kinda looked at it, thought about it, then laid it down. Especially when they had mentioned tracking via triangulation in the Michael Farmer interview.

TNs husband has a big flashing light above his head spelling out "D.O.D.G.Y." in neon capitals.

Incidentally the bloke playing Michael Farmer is excellent. I really really believed he had learning difficulties from the very first interview - just perfect the way he's doing it.

PossumInAPearTree · 27/03/2017 10:46

I think...

She will wake up and kick him in the nuts, overpower and arrest him. They will say he's balaclava man.

But I don't think he is.

I think it's Thandies husband who was "late" back at the time there was an abduction. Steve and thingy will finally work it out.

Groovee · 27/03/2017 10:50

First time watching. The end made me jump

MusicToMyEars800 · 27/03/2017 11:06

this is the first time I've watched this, but I am hooked already.. I knew there was something dodgy about that forensic bloke and I suspect Thandie's husband is involved in some way.
