I didn't like the comments about TN from Adrian Dunbar about her career being stalled, when she'd had a break to have children but unfortunately it happens in the real world. Also calling her darling, glad she pulled him up on that. He can be a bit patronising! Was a shock to see she survived an Tim is dead.

CraicMammy · 03/04/2017 16:22

Is Jodie on work experience? She keeps leading the witnesses. She suggested to Hana that her attacker was wearing a balaclava, and to Hunter that he'd been to St Anthony's Hospital. Why hasn't Roz pulled her up on this?

I think Tim is a serial killer fanboy. He's been following whoever does the kidnappings/murders (maybe just Roz's husband, maybe both) and disguises himself with the balaclava whilst doing so. Hence always being near the scene.

He works in forensics, so when Roz fell and hit her head, he knew what to do to dispose of her body neatly. But his heart wasn't in it, so when she woke up he was relieved and he tried to do a deal with her, but her husband arrived and they both killed him then cleaned up afterwards.

wowfudge · 03/04/2017 17:39

Nah - he just knew enough about the investigation to make out Balaclava Man killed Huntley. But he didn't follow through his plan to dispose of the body.

The woman was dismembered by balaclava man. The police have had three cases:

1 Woman murdered and dismembered.
2 Woman missing assumed dead, whose dismembered body was found in episode 2.
3 Hana, abducted and rescued.

EmilyDickinson · 03/04/2017 18:10

My guess is that there will be a fourth case, showing that neither Michael nor Tim are balaclava man, but that it will come too late for Michael who will either have been attacked by other prisoners, or who will have committed suicide.

ActuallyThatsSUPREMECommander · 03/04/2017 19:30

Bloody Kate hasn't done anything to protect Michael. Just like they didn't do anything to protect Lindsay Denton in season 3.

buggerthebotox · 03/04/2017 19:33

That scene in the prison was very powerful. Poor Michael.

Choccywoccyhooha · 03/04/2017 19:37

Okay, my (ridiculous) theory at the moment is...
Roz was under massive pressure to close the case, so she set up her husband and Hana to stage Hana's kidnapping, planning to get into the house and rescue her at the last moment (which she did), pinning all three crimes on Michael Farmer. (Not sure yet as to why Farmer, but maybe as Tim suggested, she just thinks he's a sad loser, so worthless in her eyes). They arrest Farmer, but Tim notices the anomalies in the biometric data, there is more than her career at stake now, she also needs to ensure that no evidence points to her husband. Tim was close to uncovering that Hana was in on her own kidnapping, which is why he went to her work, to get her fingerprints to prove she ripped her own earrings out.
I'm still trying to come up with a convincing story as to why Tim had the balaclava, but something to do with using it to check his theories, or, he found it and was doing his own forensics on it to get more evidence that Farmer is innocent.

Is the victim's body found in episode 2 the original missing woman, or an additional victim?

BaggyCheeks · 03/04/2017 19:38

I stand to be corrected but I'm totally not buying Huntley's husband being involved - she left her phone at home and they had conversations about her having to go out in the evenings, and she's said she was at work. They wouldn't have those conversations if he knew where she was or they were in it together.

bonjovigirl · 03/04/2017 19:41

ChoccyWoccy love your theory, explains Ifield looking into Hana

Isitjustmeorisiteveryoneelse · 03/04/2017 19:41

Scott Reid playing Michael is an amazing actor. Recently saw him in The Curious Incident of the zdog in the Nighttime. Excellent.

ActuallyThatsSUPREMECommander · 03/04/2017 19:42

That's bloody brilliant choccy. Insanely high risk strategy though.

DispatchReady · 03/04/2017 19:42

Just caught up. Love all your theories - they will probably turn out to be far more interesting than what really happens!

I don't think TN's DH could have been in it with her, otherwise there would have been meaningful looks etc at the dinner table. She has the most bitchy resting face ever, her expression is never nuanced, always the same!

I am positive we will see a flashback of what happened.

Don't understand why she is keeping all the evidence about her person though, her locker could be searched at any time if she is under investigation and she just chucked the gloves she wrote on into the boot - wouldn't you destroy them completely? They will be her undoing!

Why isn't the forensic lady questioning why TN asked her to re-examine evidence? She just seemed to go along with it!

Lots of far-fetchedness, but still enjoying it! Love AD too!

BaggyCheeks · 03/04/2017 19:45

Methadone Mick! I totally forgot the name of his character in Still Game. I wanted to cry for him when he was taken back to his cell in this week's episode.

tribpot · 03/04/2017 19:48

The glove with KRG-30 written on it is going to be her undoing. I can imagine the scene now - she's being interrogated á la Dot in the AC-12 office, getting increasingly desperate to avoid incriminating herself and then - voila. The glove.

Alas unlike Dot she isn't going to be able to order an immediate paramilitary strike on the building to get out.

buggerthebotox · 03/04/2017 19:55

I like choccy's theory too. I've always been convinced the kidnap was a set up.

There's something about Jodie that doesn't ring true to me. I'm wondering if it's her that's undercover, or something. She seems a bit too keen, is always watchful, and she led Hana into saying "balaclava". A bit try-hard.

My theory, for what it's worth, is that Jodie is working covertly with AC12. Kate's cover is already likely to be blown - Buckells knows her from a previous case- and she will be being watched, no doubt. She's a crap undercover officer anyway-she must be pretty well known by now! Kate's there as a kind of decoy undercover person whilst Jodie is doing the real undercover stuff. IMHO. Smile

ButtonMooooon · 03/04/2017 19:56

Martin Compston on Twitter:

Thanks to everybody tuning in again and not to tease but on paper Ep3 my favourite of this year explosive stuff to come next week #LOD4

The constant "mate" between him and Kate is driving me mad this series

NoelHeadbands · 03/04/2017 20:03

I struggle with Martin Compson's speech- that's not to say his accent isn't good, it's spot on IMO, you never get a hint of his real accent but... it doesn't flow If you know what I mean? Sometimes it's almost like he's really having to work at what he's saying. That probably makes no sense to anyone but me Grin

Not criticising though, it's one of the best things on telly. I love how they originally named the character 'Dot' Cotton, with only the briefest of explanations why. Just such a wonderful unashamed nod to British trivia , you don't see much of that anymore with so many series going international

CraicMammy · 03/04/2017 20:05

choccywoccy AMAZING theory!

Choccywoccyhooha · 03/04/2017 20:11

Alternatively, she got someone else (not her dh) to help stage Hana's kidnap. She has put a lot of time and effort into this, sneaking around etc, which has got her DH's suspicions up, hence why he is following her.
She talked Ifield down from the chainsaw incident, left the apartment and her dh went in and attacked Ifield (on the assumption that he and Roz were having an affair).

Idk, but i'm sure Roz set up Hana's abduction, Hana was definitely in in it, and Tim was close to discovering this.

It's bloody mad, but not as mad as Dot being the caddy and having his pals machine gun the AC12 office to orchestrate his escape.
Fwiw, I miss Dot. He was a wrong 'un, but not all bad.
