I've only just started s1 on Netflix - wow!

FeralBeryl · 30/03/2017 14:05

Oh SuckingEggs you lucky thing!
Cancel all non urgent movement from the couch for the next day or so Grin

I think Steve's character needed to have an identifiable SE accent for the Caddy's profile.

Fwiw I think Martin is a cracking actor and is really versatile. apart from his intermittent Aussie/Welsh intonations

CoolCarrie · 30/03/2017 14:14

I find it hard to see how they could sit there interviewing the suspect with the sleeping lawyer and no appropriate adult present especially as they know he has learning difficulties, surprised that the writer has made that mistake & , that is really annoying me.

Hygellig · 30/03/2017 17:50

Dot had a Brummie accent in the office. The writer is from Cannock hence why it's set somewhere vaguely Midlandish. I'm surprised he'd get things like the appropriate adult wrong as well.

buggerthebotox · 30/03/2017 18:34

Dead envious of sucking Envy. What a treat is in store!

I've had to console myself with a 4th watching of S4, episode 1. Not sure I'm going to make it to Sunday without another fix. Counting the hours!

OutwardBound2016 · 30/03/2017 22:47

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks TN is a shit actress. I disliked her in ER, mainly because she broke Dr Carters heart (and I had a huge crush on him!). I'm hoping this series isn't going to get too silly, we became massively over invested in the previous ones.

SuckingEggs · 31/03/2017 00:11

I looked it up after reading this thread and am also watching s3 on telly. My interest was piqued when posters raved about LoD on the Replacement thread.

Thanking you 👌🏽😊

NormaSmuff · 31/03/2017 07:06

just caught up,
that was exciting, if over acted, I do like that Tim bloke as an actor.

MarilynWhirlwindRocks · 31/03/2017 07:43

Adrian Dunbar blows the acting competition out of the water, IMHO...just natural and effortless.

I may just have a bit of a not so tiny crush on him...

CoolCarrie · 31/03/2017 09:15

He is lovely and been around a long time now, one of those actors who is always working, not a star , but concisely good , like Roger Allam

ButtonMooooon · 31/03/2017 10:14

Right I am about to watch again whilst doing the ironing!!

CoolCarrie · 31/03/2017 11:50

Great choice!

SapphireStrange · 31/03/2017 12:55

I actually genuinely love Adrian Dunbar and I love Ted Hastings. He's so noble. I live in fear that his character will be unmasked as the most ultra-corrupt of the lot of them. I'd sob. Grin

So is Jason Watkins' character dodgy? Or is he just obsessive and genuinely wants the bad forensics to come to light? is it Thandie N's character who's corrupt?

I like the theory about her husband and I did think they lingered on his getting the briefcase out of the boot a bit suspiciously long.

Martin C's accent is atrocious. I can't see why he couldn't just be Scottish; Dot was a West Midlander and Ted is Northern Irish, so it's not like they don't think we can handle a mix of accents.

NotJanine · 31/03/2017 13:22

I didn't know he was Scottish for a long time, I think he does a very good job.

buggerthebotox · 31/03/2017 13:45

I think Ifield is annoying, officious and obsessive but not dodgy. I'm not sure that TN is dodgy either. I'm wondering whether TN is somehow being used by her powers-that-be in particular the ACC Hilton, whom I think Hastings feels may have something to hide.

I had the feeling Hilton was dodgy in S1 too. Just something about him!

SapphireStrange · 31/03/2017 13:49

I think Hilton is corrupt too. He just looks shifty. [irrational]

Sorry but Martin C doesn't do a good job with the accent; it's all over the place. Hilton is better, although he sounds a bit stilted talking with his English accent.

youngestisapsycho · 31/03/2017 14:21

I've read the full thread. but may have missed it.... has no one mentioned the car outside Tim's flat? When he looked on his PC and saw it was TN at the door, he than looked out the window and a car pulled up.... do we know who that was? was it relevant to the storyline?

diddl · 31/03/2017 14:45

"I think Ifield is annoying, officious and obsessive ."

Me too-& I still preferred him to TN's characterGrin

When she said about "assaulting a police officer" & was thinking oh good grief-get over yourself!

buggerthebotox · 31/03/2017 15:42

young yes, a car did appear to pull up outside Tim's flat. At first glance I thought it was Hubby with TN's phone. But we didn't see any more of it! Where did it go? If it was there at all?Confused.

Whoever was in it, assuming it was still there, would have seen Tim leave and possibly return with the equipment.

buggerthebotox · 31/03/2017 15:47

diddl that "assault" on TN was a bit...tame. And yes, she did seem to overreact? Overdo the "you've assaulted a police officer" thing?

Couldn't she have just arrested him at that point?

That whole scene looked a bit staged. I wonder if it was?

diddl · 31/03/2017 16:08

It was all a bit daft really-presumably to get to the end point, but it was a bit clunky.

Well, he just shouldn't have let her in!

"At first glance I thought it was Hubby with TN's phone."

Me too!

ButtonMooooon · 31/03/2017 16:29

I thought it was her hubbys car too. I took a picture when I watched it earlier and meant to rewind it to compare it to the one he pulled up in earlier overinvested

ButtonMooooon · 31/03/2017 16:37

Definitely her hubby's car, look at wheel trim and sliver trim down car. The only thing is she said she'd been outside for ages and then he pulled up after she'd already gone in? I wonder if he's been parked outside all the time but if he didn't know who she's visiting he wouldn't necessarily have clocked Ifield leaving and returning

ButtonMooooon · 31/03/2017 16:38

So did hubby drive away then? Did he actually see TN go in?

Why did Tim take so long to answer the door? He knew it was TN, having seen her on his screen. If he was reluctant to let her in, why do so at all?
