A new thread for the new year Smile

Will the truth come out about how Roxy and Ronnie died yesterday?
Will the new exec producer lose his obsession with bins?
Has Max really forgiven Jane, Ian and Phil?
What secret does the new 'Chelle have?
Will Johnny Sausage learn to act?
Is Denise going to go through with the adoption?
What's going to happen with Lee?
What are your hopes for EE this year?

Come and discuss here!

Pauline was gutted when she found out she was pregnant with Martin after having Michelle and Mark as older teenagers. They also lived with lou Beale who was the MIL from hell too ( sent Arthur, the dad, over the edge and he stole the Christmas club money and had a breakdown)
They did have a smaller house, but I think Ian and Jane had an upstairs conversion done on it - not downstairs though. The houses do tend to grow and expand - it is another world on the square.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 06/01/2017 09:56

What the hell is the towel story all about?? Confused

What - now it's 2017 - all change on the Square: bins are so last year, darling, it's all about the towel plotline now...

MrsJayy · 06/01/2017 09:58

Martin Fowler is only a year older than vicky fowler yet chelle talks about when they were kids michelle was nearly 20 when martin went to school and had her own kid to look after and wasnt she out of paulines living elsewhere ?

The80sweregreat · 06/01/2017 10:04

The towel thing is just bizarre, in fact Chelle's whole demeanour is just odd. She seems to be sweating the small stuff as they say.
She hasn't offered any money either and staying there rent free - grr. then load of money for things they don't want.
( does she think Martin is a millionaire stall holder?)

SoupDragon · 06/01/2017 10:28

if jack and his 3x3

Technically they are 3x4 as Matthew has a different father and mother :o

iknowimcoming · 06/01/2017 10:30

Agree re chelle, rocked up on Christmas Eve and has stayed for two weeks yet not one single person (best friend or brother) has asked why! Ridiculous!

The80sweregreat · 06/01/2017 10:56

soup, of course, matthew is a cotton!! ( I should know this!)
so 2x2, ( was never any good at maths) and another one outside the brackets!!

The80sweregreat · 06/01/2017 10:58

and penny too of course although she is being spared ONGAR and lives in france. which is even further away..

ineedamoreadultieradult · 06/01/2017 11:06

mrsjayy I was sure there was a big age gap between Michelle and Martin but I thought I might be wrong as they were acting like they were really close as kids!

iknowimcoming · 06/01/2017 11:07

I don't see why Jack would struggle on his own in Ongar with 3 small kids, they have bedrooms with DVD players in them in Ongar surely? That and handheld consoles are the only things those kids need to survive Grin

WomanFromAnotherPlace · 06/01/2017 11:08

Does anybody remember back in the day Huw and Lennie? Double act friendship on EE. Huw was friendly Welsh guy.

The actor who played Lennie is now a weather presenter on my local news channel Shock Grin

WomanFromAnotherPlace · 06/01/2017 11:13

Also, don't know how Nuchelle and Mart can reminisce, he spent most of his youth sent to his bedroom by Ma Fowl-ah.

The80sweregreat · 06/01/2017 11:20

I don't remember Huw and lennie at all. I think I did have periods in the 80s when I didn't watch that much as I was actually out having a life ( unlike now of course!!)
and it was only on twice a week back then as well.
No I player or whatever to catch up on either. you either watched or went without! hard times...

WomanFromAnotherPlace · 06/01/2017 11:23

The80s, ah, back when EE was on just Tuesday and Thursday. Huw and Len were around mid-late 90s I think

HateSummer · 06/01/2017 11:24

Yes you're right, I don't think Martin would even remember Arthur that well. Michelle and Mark were similar ages yet no mention of her beloved dead brother Hmm

The towel thing is hilarious. Pauline boiled their luxury towels 😂. So disgusting imagine the scum bubbling in the pot.

The recycling was mentioned yesterday courtesy of Shirley and Babe 😉

LineyReborn · 06/01/2017 11:24

So is the ridiculous towel story supposed to signal that Michelle is in fact, as Dr Legg would say, off her rocker?

Although the childhood reminiscing story is just as delusional, inasmuch as they were never actually children together, and Martian seems fine with it.

If it's just down to shit writing, it'll be very disappointing.

MrsJayy · 06/01/2017 11:30

Me and my sister are roughly the same gap as chelle and Martin we have no shared memories about towels and mince pies i was lolling about my bedroom being sullen and teenagery she was busy being a toddler and stuff

The80sweregreat · 06/01/2017 11:35

liney, maybe its the writers, they are all young and hipster like and cant be bothered to look up any of the characters or what they were like 30 years ago! the newcomers to this drama would now think that martin and her were closer in age and memories than they actually are. Why is Sharon giving her a wide berth too?

mid 90s for Hew and lennie, but I cannot remember them at all!

iknowimcoming · 06/01/2017 11:54

I remember Huw and Lennie - in my brain Huw is the same person as the radio one news guy Smile

The80sweregreat · 06/01/2017 11:59

the internet does it again, a quick look up and bingo, I do recall Hew!!
He was nice too. used to wind up Ian Beale.

SoupDragon · 06/01/2017 12:01

I thought there were some great moments last night. Babe as the drag queen was inspired revenge fromSausage! Her shiftiness about the feral pigeon pie was wonderful too.

SoupDragon · 06/01/2017 12:03

"Me and the kids.... we're going to Ongar was unintentionally funny.

And I've been singing that bloody Oasis song all day so far!

MrsJayy · 06/01/2017 12:06

There was some howlers on the EE facebook page about Ongar Grin bet they wished just said Essex now

HateSummer · 06/01/2017 12:30

I remember Hew...I swear he looked like Bex Confused

JustAnotherSilentOldNumber · 06/01/2017 13:15

That double draw front was impressive wasn't it.
