Wanted Down Under - new series

Starts on Monday 2nd Jan @ 11am (new time) each day.

DH always says, "You can tell it is the new year when this deluded escapism is on!"

I for one will have it on series record. Anyone else joining me to escape to Oz each morning?

I think "Wolf " may have had an advantage in setting his business up over there. They don't seem to realise that the lifestyle relies on them having time to spend with the kids not working.

NancyDonahue · 11/01/2017 14:14

Anyone else get fed up with the friends and family video? I've started skipping through it as it feels intrusive to watch! Most of the time they get all upset but still do the (annoying) card flip to the Oz map.

fourquenelles · 11/01/2017 16:26

Me Nancy more for the way the production company milk the emotional side of things. Surely friends and family have said what they think about the move before and at the stage of the family actually being out in Oz or NZ they should be being supportive?

LIZS · 11/01/2017 16:27

It seems they are planning to go when they've sold their businesses.

LarrytheCucumber · 12/01/2017 09:21

I either mute the friends and family video or find a job to do in the kitchen.

CurbsideProphet · 12/01/2017 11:08

I'm watching today. She wants the children to be more sporty and spend more time outside. Why not live somewhere more coastal or rural? If her parents help so much with childcare etc, how do they think they'll manage? It's the same every episode Grin

Vagndidit · 12/01/2017 11:11

£1.4 million budget to work with today Shock

CurbsideProphet · 12/01/2017 11:16

It's a whole different ball game today on the house front!

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 12/01/2017 11:18

Curbside Kenilworth is quite rural, I agree with you though in terms of why Aus & not say, the Lakes. I do like it when they have a big budget Grin

srtajuanita · 12/01/2017 11:21

Dying to see what jobs pay for a £1m gaff ....

LIZS · 12/01/2017 11:27

They may well have capital in their UK house. Love the houses!

Vagndidit · 12/01/2017 11:30

Wonder what lotto win/settlement/inheritance/London investment afforded that house...? Salary is o.k., but not million £ property big, I think.

Then again, we've seen plenty of people roll through this show looking at £300k+ properties on £20k...

A link to their house, I think. They haven't lived there long if this is it. This suggests it was just on the market in 2014.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 12/01/2017 11:41

Oh it is the house I thought it was Vagn! I used to lust after it on my way to work in the estate agents window.

stripeknee · 12/01/2017 11:52

right moves says it sold 29 May 2015 for £1,090,000 so they hadnt lived there long at all as WDU is filmed in spring and i know the application process starts quite a few months prior as a friend when through early parts a few years ago so despite saying they loved there home they would not have even been in it a year !

NancyDonahue · 12/01/2017 12:03

There's an update on Facebook. Nice family today but I can't see any benefits to the move other than the 'outdoor lifestyle'. No better career options or financial incentive.

Msqueen33 · 12/01/2017 12:03

Could someone link to the fb page. Can't seem to find it. I prefer revisited to see what they've actually done.

wideboy26 · 12/01/2017 12:09

The relatives video was just awful. Her parents were so blunt, although as a parent of grown up children I can understand their position. We have two of our sons living abroad - both long haul distances - but we would never apply that sort of emotional blackmail.

wideboy26 · 12/01/2017 12:10

And I can understand the outdoors lifestyle attraction, but she has so much in the UK, not least that amazing house!

wideboy26 · 13/01/2017 11:24

In today's family her husband looks older than her dad. A stepdad perhaps. Another one who wants a palace for peanuts.

SwedishEdith · 13/01/2017 11:33

She's annoying.

MadisonAvenue · 13/01/2017 11:37

She's annoying.
I was just coming to say the same.

LIZS · 13/01/2017 11:37

Agree, and she's sunburnt! They seemed to swallow their house valuation disappointment easily.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 13/01/2017 11:38

It made me laugh they both work in hospitality & catering yet they don't want to work evenings & weekends. The only way that's possible is to leave the industry!
