Wanted Down Under - new series

Breward · 31/12/2016 21:52

Starts on Monday 2nd Jan @ 11am (new time) each day.

DH always says, "You can tell it is the new year when this deluded escapism is on!"

I for one will have it on series record. Anyone else joining me to escape to Oz each morning?

I'd love to do a spoof of WDU - possibly with Vicky Pollard.

It would include a family video section where either the couple or their families would say:

'Nah, don't really give a fuck if they/we move. Never liked them anyway.' or a Father Jack character sitting in a corner with a bottle of whisky.

I'd show the family a house completely out of their budget and include a shot of them sitting in a traffic jam for an hour cos the property they are in is 20 miles outside of the city.

The family time video would them realising they don't actually like spending time together anyway.

toothfairy fab idea. Peter Kay could do it, like the spoof talent show he did.

They could compare the cost of fags, see through leggings and triple buggies.

I sense a lot of tears! THEIR MARRIAGE IS AT STAKE oh the drama.

greenworm · 06/02/2017 11:08

As someone living abroad in my DP's home country on the understanding that one day we will go back to live in the UK for at least a while, I'm instinctively on her side here.

MauiChristmas · 06/02/2017 11:25

I love the speaking the bloody obvious stuff. A project manager would have transferable skills... Response: that's great news. Like he didn't know that.

LIZS · 06/02/2017 11:31

Surely when you marry someone from elsewhere you have to accept this situation may arise.

greenworm · 06/02/2017 11:45

God, that was really quite sad. A bit more real stuff at stake and less 'manufactured drama' than a lot of other episodes.

LIZS · 06/02/2017 11:56

Yes not exactly a happy ever after.

JeanSeberg · 06/02/2017 12:43

It didn't seem like he will ever move. At some point he was going to have to just take the plunge, the circumstances were never going to be 100% perfect. I was surprised she hadn't run out of patience to be honest.

LIZS · 07/02/2017 11:30

Anyone watching today?

NotSure202 · 07/02/2017 11:32

I am watching!

fourquenelles · 07/02/2017 11:40

My TV keeps losing signal so I have popped in here for a recap if anyone would be so kind Grin. Did all the kids go?

NotSure202 · 07/02/2017 11:42

Everyone went and they seem very happy.:)

LIZS · 07/02/2017 11:42

Yes they've all gone but took until 2012. Self built a house but no pool! They have had to self fund uni which presumably isn't cheap.

cushioncovers · 07/02/2017 11:42

I'm watching. What a lovely family.

NotSure202 · 07/02/2017 11:44

I have extended family in Australia and we only go and see them every few years for a week or so at a time.

DH and I are both watching and I have suggested we go during the summer holidays (ours) in 2018 for about 7 weeks to give it a go and see if we may want to move there full time. That time period coincides with my current employment contract finishing and DH is more or less retired so we may be able to think about it.

Pity it will be winter in Oz then though!

NotSure202 · 07/02/2017 11:44

I am thinking out loud though,as this idea has literally just occurred to me!

greenworm · 07/02/2017 11:46

I'm surprised they went, it didn't seem like they would.

They really remind me of a couple of families I know who are pretty religious. Very close knit.

I was interrupted when they were explaining what all the kids are now doing in terms of work/study - can someone fill me in? I just caught that one of them, I think the youngest daughter? - was engaged.

NotSure202 · 07/02/2017 11:47

Older daughter is studying to be a vet nurse, youngest an art teacher, I missed what the son was doing.

They seemed like a lovely family, you are right. And close knit.

LIZS · 07/02/2017 11:49

Think son was doing psychology and said he'd found transition to uni hard at first.

fourquenelles · 07/02/2017 13:06

Thank you one and all.

greenworm · 08/02/2017 11:23

Anyone watching today?

Not a particularly interesting/entertaining episode so far.

LIZS · 08/02/2017 11:26

It's a bit marginal. Don't reckon they go.

greenworm · 08/02/2017 11:29

That is the least convincing 'dint worry about us' EVER (from the guys dad) and that is saying something!

greenworm · 08/02/2017 11:32
