Wanted Down Under - new series

Breward · 31/12/2016 21:52

Starts on Monday 2nd Jan @ 11am (new time) each day.

DH always says, "You can tell it is the new year when this deluded escapism is on!"

I for one will have it on series record. Anyone else joining me to escape to Oz each morning?

My word. Who knew the bridal industry was so lucrative!

ZouBisou · 02/02/2017 11:25

Wow, I'm surprised how much she could earn working in a bridal shop. I don't know much about retail salaries, but it seems like a lot.

wideboy26 · 02/02/2017 11:29

Given the cost of wedding dresses and all the add-ons, I'm not surprised at the salary she could command, although I would have thought you'd need to be a business owner to earn at that level.

Brodie is gorgeous.

MauiChristmas · 02/02/2017 11:29

Thoes houses are so far out of town. they'd have hiddeous commutes to get to their jobs in the centre, to earn the big bucks.

ZouBisou · 02/02/2017 11:30

It is ridiculous to have a vote on overall lifestyle based on one day out at an aquarium!

Heatherbell1978 · 02/02/2017 11:32

All the houses they show on here are about 30 miles out of town...I wish they'd talk more about the locations.

Their house in the UK is gorgeous though.

wideboy26 · 02/02/2017 11:34

They never judge overall lifestyle on a visit to the opera, a museum or an art gallery!

LIZS · 02/02/2017 11:34

The other day I'm sure nappies were costed cheaper in Aus than Uk, opposite today?

Vagndidit · 02/02/2017 11:35

And more tears... "I could be a mum again..." Massive eye roll

wideboy26 · 02/02/2017 11:35

Get ready for more tears....

MauiChristmas · 02/02/2017 11:36

Pass the tissues - here we go.

wideboy26 · 02/02/2017 11:37

Oooh I think I'm going too...sniff

wideboy26 · 02/02/2017 11:38

Stepdad knows his place. Just nods along with what Mum says

Heatherbell1978 · 02/02/2017 11:39

This is one of the worst tearjerkers yet.

Heatherbell1978 · 02/02/2017 11:42

Off topic but did anyone see A New Life in Oz last night on channel 5? Still a bit confused about how the family could afford that huge house emigrating with £20k which included their deposit.....seemed like a fairly middle income family too.

Vagndidit · 02/02/2017 11:42

Such manufactured drama. Ffs.

Facebook Update will report she's pregnant again and plans "on hold"

ZouBisou · 02/02/2017 11:45

Yeah, they're not going anywhere. She just needs to sort out her work/life balance and I'm sure there are ways she could do that in the UK.

Vagndidit · 02/02/2017 11:53

Yup. A few changes make a world of difference. BBC could save themselves a load of money by shelling out for career counselling over trips Down Under.

"The Evans family are still living in Cwmbran, and currently making lots of home improvements with a new bathroom, doors and decorating!
Work life balance has greatly improved for Laura since the filming, due to hiring more staff to help in the shop, which has meant Laura has a lot more time being a Mummy and spending time with hubby Andrew. She has fallen back in love with running her own business since she’s got the great support from colleagues and is finding it easier to delegate all her responsibilities.
The family have started looking at the visa process and are currently weighing up their options.
Exciting times ahead in 2017!"

theothersideoftheworld · 02/02/2017 11:55

Are there no aquariums in Wales?

NancyDonahue · 02/02/2017 11:58

Drama lama overload today.

This programme needs massively updating. Get rid of the awful video and 'lifestyle' sections and get more information on education and job prospects for children in the future.

ZouBisou · 02/02/2017 11:58

No beaches either theotherside

wideboy26 · 02/02/2017 11:58

Ah well. It was something to watch while I had my coffee and currant bun.

NancyDonahue · 02/02/2017 12:00

I live near an Aquarium. We go there all the time. It's in Bournemouth Hmm

Heatherbell1978 · 02/02/2017 12:14

Pretty much every couple on this ask for 'more family time' yet they base their house searches in suburbs miles and miles from the city which means a huge commute and often need to look at working more hours to make ends meet. There always seem to be glaringly obvious things they could do in the UK to get that work/life balance with the exception perhaps of nurses who seems to have much better shift patterns in Oz.
DH and I are emigrating to Perth next year but we have loads of family time here! We genuinely just hate the weatherConfused
