Wanted Down Under - new series

Breward · 31/12/2016 21:52

Starts on Monday 2nd Jan @ 11am (new time) each day.

DH always says, "You can tell it is the new year when this deluded escapism is on!"

I for one will have it on series record. Anyone else joining me to escape to Oz each morning?

Looks like Cornwall.

228agreenend · 27/01/2017 11:36

£14000 better off. If Candice worked in the UK, they would have that.

AllTheBabies · 27/01/2017 11:38

True 228.

The family videos are particularly unemotional today.

Iamtheresurrection · 27/01/2017 12:08

I think they said she was struggling to find a job doing what she did before.

228agreenend · 27/01/2017 12:13

But a job is not guaranteed in NZ.

AllTheBabies · 27/01/2017 12:17

Facebook update is that she has got a job in the UK but they are still planning on going to nz.

I'm suprised! Thought they'd be there already.

228agreenend · 27/01/2017 13:17

Me too. I presume they would be there already, or about to go.

latedecember1963 · 30/01/2017 11:16

Anybody watching today? Can't believe how much their son has to say from himself! He's 10.

Oldraver · 30/01/2017 11:29

Yep I missed the beginning and the first thing I saw was the bit were he was putting in his two 'pennarth....

Oldraver · 30/01/2017 11:33

Crikey not all bad with the lad....

Thing they have also missed out on 'lifestyle' day going to a sports centre. Its a bit of an irony two PE teachers not having time to do sporty things with their own kids

ZouBisou · 30/01/2017 11:33

I agree re: the son, but he does seem older than his years in a way. I quite like him!

AllTheBabies · 30/01/2017 11:34

I missed the beginning too. When I turned it on he was saying a house was more suitable for a retired couple GrinConfused

Oh look, a trip to a sports centre shows them how different their life could be. Because there are no sport centres in the UK.

ZouBisou · 30/01/2017 11:41

At the beginning they said the family had already tried out a move to Dubai but had to come back as the son couldn't settle at school with the language and cultural differences.

LIZS · 31/01/2017 06:49

Watching it now. There must have been more to it with the failed Dubai trip. Presumably they were in teaching in English speaking schools so language wouldn't have been an issue especially at 6 Hmm is the
Perth suburbs cheaper than other areas of Australia?

smirched · 31/01/2017 09:27

Everyone speaks English in Dubai and there's virtually no culture. Main difference is the weather and the outdoor lifestyle, which is what they say they want. Six year olds go with the flow. Agree must be more to it.

ZouBisou · 31/01/2017 11:08

They seem like a nice couple. But I can't see her agreeing to leave her dad.

LIZS · 31/01/2017 11:11

These suburbs all look a bit retro!

ZouBisou · 31/01/2017 11:14

Wow they have a big budget: did they say what jobs they do? I missed that.

LIZS · 31/01/2017 11:14

Second house is stunning!

Oldraver · 31/01/2017 11:17

Crikey, they have a big budget...I tend to keep missing the beginning so dont know what the score with them is

LIZS · 31/01/2017 11:19

No didn't catch their jobs atm

ZouBisou · 31/01/2017 11:20

Oldraver: the main issue is that her dad has Parkinsons and she doesn't know if she could bring herself to leave him, as she cares for him quite a bit at the moment. Her husband is more motivated than her.

barkinginessex · 31/01/2017 11:21

Ooh just posted a thread about this! I feel very sorry for the woman, the man is being awful to ask her to move away from her dad. They were both crying even just talking about it!

LIZS · 31/01/2017 11:23

Ah she's a postgrad researcher and he is a graphic designer. Not sure how that equates to affording that property.

ZouBisou · 31/01/2017 11:23

Ah, he's got his own business. I guess that's where the money comes from.
