Breward · 31/12/2016 21:52

Starts on Monday 2nd Jan @ 11am (new time) each day.

DH always says, "You can tell it is the new year when this deluded escapism is on!"

I for one will have it on series record. Anyone else joining me to escape to Oz each morning?

I live an hours drive from the beach. It's way too far for me to me arsed to go. Would they really travel that far every weekend?

ZouBisou · 25/01/2017 11:19

Pretty unimpressive houses so far...

AngelicaSchuyler · 25/01/2017 11:25

Im a bit Hmm that they're planning to move to NZ on the basis of one of them being on a grad scheme and one 'hopefully' being a trainee police officer (who doesn't want to do shift work!)

Where do they find these people... Grin

megletthesecond · 25/01/2017 11:27

Was she not in the police in the UK then? I assumed she was at least qualified.

AngelicaSchuyler · 25/01/2017 11:30

Nope, she was a community support officer.

I think the fact that the daughter is afraid of a duck says a lot about how 'outdoorsy' they are 😂

IggyPopsicle · 25/01/2017 11:31

Community Support Officer, I think.

I was a bit surprised that she brought up her concerns about the fitness levels needed for police training - for something that can be so easily achieved with a bit of effort, surely that's the LEAST of her worries?

museumum · 25/01/2017 11:37

So is this "Charlie" pams step son from a previous marriage brought up living with Pam and Lucy and the ex?

megletthesecond · 25/01/2017 11:39

Ah, I see.

I love Nikki's talky bits.

megletthesecond · 25/01/2017 11:40

I think so muse.

fluffiphlox · 25/01/2017 11:40

More deluded even than the usual candidates.

LIZS · 25/01/2017 11:42

Came in half way through. What is the story with the younger son? Does he live with ex?

LunaLoveg00d · 25/01/2017 11:44

Nikki's voiceover is doing my head in - no idea where her accent is from (estuary english?) but it's the "down un-dah", "fut-yah", "consid-ah" - it's awful.

Heatherbell1978 · 25/01/2017 11:47

Better off...based on them both being accepted into training courses/schemes....all a bit fictional to be honest!

fluffiphlox · 25/01/2017 11:48

Does anyone know if any of these bods actually do make the move? How do they get on?

ZouBisou · 25/01/2017 11:48

I understood he is her son from a previous relationship, he currently lives 5 nights a week with his other mum and 2 nights a week with them.

NancyDonahue · 25/01/2017 11:49

It said Charlie is her son. He lives with his mum but spends two days a week with them. I find it baffling that they would even consider such a move! We often see people struggling with leaving grown up children but this is a 6 year old ffs

museumum · 25/01/2017 11:54

Just found their update. They couldn't get jobs. Have moved to NI instead where Claire has a job and Pam is studying.

IggyPopsicle · 25/01/2017 11:55

Update:
^We caught up with the family recently and they had some good news to share – Pam and Claire got married in August 2016!
The family moved over to Northern Ireland in May and Claire is currently looking for her first engineering job. Meanwhile, Pam has quit her job with the police and started a foundation degree in Digital Arts and Technology.

When they got home from Auckland, they did their best to move straight away, but discovered it was difficult to be recruited as graduates.

So Claire is hoping to gain some work experience and Pam is completing her degree with hopes of working in the media. She has been in touch with companies in New Zealand and is hoping to do her work placement there. With experience and extra qualifications under their belts they are working towards a move to Auckland in a few years.^

LunaLoveg00d · 25/01/2017 12:03

Northern ireland, New Zealand.... no difference really Hmm

Free holiday for that lot.

NancyDonahue · 25/01/2017 12:05

When they were doing the finances they said 'We can afford to see Charlie every year'. Wow... just wow.

Vagndidit · 26/01/2017 11:05

Oh goodie...kangaroo burger, anyone?Hmm

Oldraver · 26/01/2017 11:09

Crikey, she is a cheery soul....

poppadoppadom · 26/01/2017 11:22

A turnaround from the son on the housing front.

AngelicaSchuyler · 26/01/2017 11:23

She reeeeeally doesn't want to go does she?

Vagndidit · 26/01/2017 11:25

She's having some really oddball issues with these homes. The upstairs feels too "disconnected" from the downstairs. Errr, I thought that's what multistory homes were meant to do, create separate living spaces...? And then she just couldn't "cope" with a separate toilet in a bathroom.

And then there's the son declaring he simply couldn't live somewhere that had that type of (albeit hideous) floral tiled entryway.
