Breward · 31/12/2016 21:52

Starts on Monday 2nd Jan @ 11am (new time) each day.

DH always says, "You can tell it is the new year when this deluded escapism is on!"

I for one will have it on series record. Anyone else joining me to escape to Oz each morning?

Yes wideboy! That's why I'm always boggled at the ones who are so enthusiastic about the fabled "family time" when for most of the week the kids have been shipped off to the childminder or dragged around house viewings. One day at a national park with a camera in your face doesn't look particularly like living the dream to me.

flappynewyear · 22/01/2017 08:54

I was watching an episode of WDU Revisited yesterday and a couple upon arriving at the airport in Sydney announced that it was amazing....they could see themselves living there already Hmm

MadisonAvenue · 22/01/2017 11:42

I'm sure I've read before, probably on the WDU Facebook page, that quite often the families go over for longer (hence the mountain of luggage) but their participation in filming is just for a week.

You could buy their house if you have a spare £950,000 Wink

NancyDonahue · 23/01/2017 09:41

It's a stunning house but not for me. I need cosiness. Imagine the heating bills!

AllTheBabies · 23/01/2017 11:07

I'm not that keen on their house either. The front door makes it look like a doctors surgery.

Today's one is a bit different. The husband seems a bit quick to blame so far but it must be a hard situation for them all.

Vagndidit · 23/01/2017 11:34

Today's family wants to live in Queensland for £53k/year, and somehow afford a fancy pants private school for both kids. M'kay....

Calca · 23/01/2017 11:50

I'm sorry but this lot are really annoying me. 53k a year and they want a glamorous lifestyle. She had SPD in her pregnancies (as did I), the last of which was 7 years ago and yet she still can't work now? so unrealistic.

MadisonAvenue · 23/01/2017 12:07

If she has CFS though, that'll affect her ability to hold down a job.

wideboy26 · 23/01/2017 18:15

Ah but the sunshine and warmth of Australia is going to change all that and she's going to be able to work and, and...

I thought they were a lovely family and the children were so well-spoken and polite. The son seemed mature beyond his years and was very protective of his younger sister.

Calca · 23/01/2017 21:28

I don't think k she said she had CFS did she? I only heard SPD? anyway clearly just in it for a holiday, the boy was about to start secondary school! onto tomorrow!

MadisonAvenue · 23/01/2017 21:59

It was on the BBC's WDU Facebook page;

Suffering from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Hayley Hooper’s spent years struggling to cope with everyday life in the UK. At its worst, the condition has left Hayley in bed for up to 18 hours a day and she’s frustrated at being robbed of the chance to be a hands on mum to son Lewis and daughter Aimee.
Believing a warmer climate could improve things significantly, she’s now convinced moving to the Southern Hemisphere is the answer to her problem. But having recently got her health back on an even keel, husband Phil is far from convinced. He worries about coping without the support of friends and family, if Hayley’s health doesn’t improve as she hopes. As the family’s main provider he also questions the financial implications of moving to the other side of the world.

AllTheBabies · 23/01/2017 22:01

The presenter definitely said at the start that she had CFS.

NancyDonahue · 24/01/2017 11:23

Like watching paint dry today so I have given up. I think WDU needs a bit of a shake up. The format hasn't changed in years. The card flipping actually makes me want to throw something at the TV.

Who remembers back when Nadia Swalaha used to do it? The family would be showed locations with clips of work places and schools before they went and then they'd choose where they wanted to go?

wideboy26 · 24/01/2017 11:27

And crikey, young Pria needs to lose a bit of weight. Perhaps the outdoor life in Aus would help. Her mum has a lovely figure, so there's a role model.

LIZS · 24/01/2017 11:28

Mum today is very pushy.

wideboy26 · 24/01/2017 11:33

Suki - Your. Children. Don't. Want. To. Go.

Oldraver · 24/01/2017 11:43

I only came into this 20 minutes ago...whats the story with the Mum ?

LIZS · 24/01/2017 11:48

She was due to emigrate there as a teen but it didn't happen. Both husband and brother have recently died. Update will be interesting as she didn't necessarily have a job opportunity and youngest due to go to uni.

MoonfaceAndSilky · 24/01/2017 11:55

I think she used a bit of emotional blackmail with the kids there, at the end. They soooo obviously didn't want to go but then they voted for the move on the last card Hmm

megletthesecond · 25/01/2017 10:25

Off sick today. So that means a bonus WDU! Back at 11.

ZouBisou · 25/01/2017 11:06

Off work with an injury...first time in ages I can indulge in daytime tv! Wanted Down Under here I come.

At first glance today's is a WTF episode...WHY move to NZ if it means living on the other side of the world from your 6 year old son????

megletthesecond · 25/01/2017 11:06

Getting stuck in with my judging now. Don't go if you've got another child in the UK FFS.

IggyPopsicle · 25/01/2017 11:09

Agreed, meglet. Sad

ZouBisou · 25/01/2017 11:09

As a stepmother myself I just dont understand how they can even contemplate this.
